Lee Dong-gun’s younger brother (21) was murdered by two Chinese teenagers (18) at Sydney’s World Square about 1am today in Sydney, Australia yesterday.
Two eighteen year old teenagers stabbed Lee Dong-gun’s younger brother and his friend, identified as Song because they thought that Lee and Song were looking down at them. Lee died almost instantly and Song is currently in critical conditions.
The argument is believed to have begun at a Hungry Jack’s restaurant on the corner of Liverpool and George streets.
The defendants were caught an hour after the crime and Lee Dong-gun and his family quickly flew to Sydney to identify the body.
What a tough year for Lee Dong-gun. First, the highly publicized break-up, the expulsion and now the unfortunate death of his baby brother…

My heartfelt sympathy goes to you Lee Dong & your family! Your baby brother is now with the Lord & he will for sure be one of the angels looking out for you & your family! The saddest part is it happens before Easter where I’m sure you as a Catholic were planning to celebrate our Lord’s Resurrection. I’m one of your millions of fans & albeit I don’t know you nor your family personally, I feel your sorrow & believe me I mourn with you in your beloved brother’s passing at such a ripe age – it seems that he was a wrong place at a wrong time & he & his friend should never have gone through that, such a senseless killing! I hope you or your talent staff would be able to show you the outpouring of support from your fans on this site! My prayers & love are with you & your family! As a Catholic we believe that he’s now in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope our Lord will give you enough strength to come to grips with what happened to your brother. I know it’s hard to lose someoned we love, I lost my parents, and two sisters and it wasn’t easy! Regardless of race,nationality or even religion, to die at such a young age and in such way is a total waste! Lee Dong Gun and family’s grief and heartache is truly unimaginable.

I live in Australia & yes I am of Chinese descent. We’re actually one of the safest, most live-able nations in the world. I think you just have to use common sense when hanging out in certain areas, just as you would anywhere else on this planet.

Sighhhh, racist comments always pop up in a controversial topic such as this one. No doubt there’s going to be tension on the streets of Sydney between Chinese & Korean gangs for a while.

I feel the same when people asks questions like “Why do they stab people just because they felt like they were inferior?” There is no answer to that. Two specific Chinese gangs in the City/Chinatown area are vicious and unreasonable. Many people don’t believe in their existence, but they are like plague, not only international students join them, Australian born Chinese join them too.
Feeling inferior? They would hurt you just because they feel like it, if they had no reason, they will find one. It’s hopeless to argue.

it is extremely sad if someone in our family dies, but that’s how the destiny is. try to accept and continue on to live as your own journey hasnt ended yet. fulfill what others cant, with their memories always in our minds. my condolences to both of the families and hope the survival guy will recover fast. justice will pay for those who did this. i just hope we can live in a peace world, but differ people have differ minds n emotions. im trying to be as flexible, rational n caring as possible n i hope others would give it a try too.

I think popseoul has done nothing wrong by not hiding the truth that LDG’s brother was murdered by 2 Chinese teenagers as a way of reporting an ugly incident. I’m a Chinese mixed but I do not get offended by the article. I grew up in the midst of Koreans who are vocal when it comes to expressing their opinions, ideas, views etc. I’ve learned to accept them the way they are. No matter how much you dislike someone, that hatred does not give you the right to take the life of another. ABSOLUTELY NOPE!
My deceased friend’s family went through ‘hellish’ moments after his murder and death esp. his mother okasan. May Lee Dong-gun’s brother rest in peace. That the long arm of the law hopefully will bring true and absolute justice at the end of the day!
As an American, I know that most Americans would laugh at the thought of this crime being “race-related- everyone involved was Asian. As an American with a Korean husband and Korean in-laws, I have a deep understanding of Asian cultures and I know that there are a great many differences among them.
It doesn’t matter if you’re Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Australian, European, American, African, or Middle Eastern- people are people. If you do think you’re greater than anyone, you’re forgetting that there will always be someone more attratctive than you, richer than you, taller than you, thinner than you, and nicer than you. Whoever that person is, you do not have the right to harm them in any way. We are all allowed to look at one another and should not have to suffer reprocussion just because someone doesn’t like how they are being looked at.
No one can make you “feel” anything without your consent. Only you can give anther person the power to make you feel a certain way.
That these young men felt “looked down” upon was their own fault, and they are absolute cowards for stabbing unarmed men. They will now be looked at in shame by their own families for doing such a humiliating thing. Will they be stabbing them, too?

I’m American and have Korean friends and lover of dramas and movies. i don’t think this is funny at all because i know that there is some angst between Korean and Chinese/ Japanese and Korean and Chinese. But the point is that i can actually emphasizes with lee dong gun and his family’s feelings because my cousin was stabbed and died for no reason. He was young and died because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. No one should die like that and the pain of the event has to live with you forever. It to me a long time to deal with it and i hope the family try to go through counseling because it help me.
Lee Dong Gun will probably not be reading this….but it is the Thought and Prayers that Counts…..

it’s wierd though, me and my mates were just recently at world square about a four days before the stabbing and we were standing at that exact spot…i never knew too that the korean boy that was said on news was Lee Dong Gun’s little brother on friday. Me and my friends were like he’s korean! coz it’s rare to see asians on news here in sydney, let alone a famous guys brother.
I pray for his family for peace in their hearts and forgiveness towards the murderers…God Bless them always.

O M G… that is really scary because world square is where i go everyday after Uni to eat and shop around with my mates.
Its is terrible to see a life being taken away from a person so young with so much potential to offer. I hope the justice system will see that the people who are responsible for this will recieve the punishment they deserve. No one deserves to have their life taken away from loved ones. our generation is a generation filled with opportunites and freedom. We have been given the chance of an education that our parents, grandparents did not get, and yet people still choose to resort to violence and ending someone’s life because they assumed that they were being looked down upon.

You know why his brother got stabbed? because…. Koreans in Sydney think they own the stretch ( Liverpool St where World Square is ) and so they have some arrogance in their behaviour and manners.
