Lee Dong-gun’s Japanese single will be released on March 26th, the same date of his younger brother’s funeral, which will take place in Korea.
Despite the tragic event, many are anticipating Lee Dong-gun’s single release, which consists of four songs.
Is it just me, or is it a bit insensitive for the record company to proceed as planned while Lee Dong-gun is going through hard times?

The release date was arranged prior to what happened to his brother. If it clashes with the day of the funeral, I’m sure it will be re-scheduled. Popseoul will surely update us on that , won’t U popseoul?
Poor LDG. He’s been through so much these past few days. And I agree with the first poster, Orchid, that the record company should postpone the release date in the wake of LDG’s brother’s funeral.
We all know that he wont be able to promote his Japanese singles atleast for awhile. I think its ridiculous if the companny wants pity sells in this tragedy. Sad but my condolence and prayesr are with the Lee family!

) but LDG had a special relationship with his bro, so that’s kinda sad and somewhat degrading to also have a single released and a funeral for your own brother that day.

That just proves to show how much these record/movie execs really care, or lack thereof, in regards to their “momeymakers”. They just want to squeeze how much they can out of them and when they’re through it’s out with the old and in with the new.
It doesn’t matter if Lee Dong-gun himself requested to continue with the release as planned. He’s in a state of shock and is not in his right mind. Actors/Actresses who have always been in the limelight uses work as an escape from tragic events. If it were Lee’s decision to go as planned, the record execs and his agent should intervene and offer him an alternate date to release it. He needs to grieve properly. If he goes through with this, one day he will regret doing so.
I know it takes a lot of money for these record releases to happen and execs need to make their return as soon as possible. But this is just insensitive in every humane aspects. Are execs using this tragic event to their advantage in hopes that fan’s sympathy will lead to purchasing his singles? That’s a DAMN SHAME!!! Like they say in Hollywood, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity”….. no matter what country you’re in.
People should be careful here and not take Popseoul’s word by word. We don’t actually know whether or not the release will go ahead as planned. We don’t want another ‘Bad PR company’ blog-fight like the one involving Se7en.
Things are already bad enough for Lee Dong Gun!
So long as the record execs don’t expect him to attend a release party or participate in any media promotion, I don’t think the release date should change.
Releases happen all the time while stars do something else unrelated. It’s not like they have to be present for boxes of albums to arrive at stores and be put on shelves. In fact, I think it’s the perfect time for a release. He can focus on healing while his fans take care of the rest.

it’s a product with his name going out. he won’t be completely missing from the market while he has time off to grieve. there will be pity sales, no doubt.

releasing new works should be a happy occasion, and that certainly won’t be the case if lee dong-gun’s single were to come out on the day of his brother’s funeral. with just a few days to change the plans that were most likely put in place well before the untimely death of his brother, however … who knows if the record company will go through with the release.

who knows maybe he decided to keep the day? Some people deal with grief differently. Maybe he’s the kind who throw them self into their work to “get away” from reality. As long as he is not being forced into it, then I see nothing wrong.

Yes the entertainment industry is heartless. Money in the industry is all timing and opportunity and capitalizing on it. The heart break he must be feeling i cant even imagine.

It’s a bit insensitive and for once PS isn’t blaming or exaggerating things out of proportion. Well, I hope his album does well due to his efforts and not the publicity from death in the family. I didn’t know he sings Jpop, then again I don’t know him as an entertainer that well, just glanced at his name now and then along w/ other news.
Poor guy! After all these tragic setbacks, I wish only good things will happen for him. Keep your chin up, Dong-gun!
PS, do keep us updated on whether the record company will postpone the release date. Regardless of when the single is released, I guess that it will be well-received due to his brother’s highly-publicized demise. I sincerely hope not for his sake. Remember, LDG started out as a singer first before switching into acting because his singing career did not take off. He has a pretty good voice so let’s hope that his singing career will take off this time for the right reasons, ie his singing abilities. Would also like to extend my condolences to him and his family in this post as the previous one was filled with much anger and hatred over wrong issues. I didn’t want my comment to be part of that.

1. For LDG’s brother - Justice for his untimely demise,
2. For his family - that they may see the reason behind this such tragic event, hope they recover in due time,
3. For the record company and LDG - may they decide what is best for his upcoming album,
4. For LDG - despite what is happening to him personally and career wise, to remain strong and steadfast he still have his family and fans who still love him and would certainly support him.

i read the newspaper today stated that LDG had attended his brother funeral at sydney on 26th instead of attending the releasing of single.
He will be return back to korea on 28th of the month with his brother’s ashes and have the buriel ceremony done on korea on 31st of the mth.
Thru’ the picture shown in the newspaper i can see his sad, tired grief face. Poor LDG.
