Our favorite ESL student, Rain was the man behind the disappointing Anydream MV. According to J Tune Entertainment, the Pinky took upon himself to produce, write, choreograph and star in the MV.
No wonder it failed to impress.
Interestingly, Pinky’s mentor, Brain aka JYP is also taking on a producing role for Korean remake of Flashdance.
Well at least Pinky and the Brain are living up to their name by trying to take over the world and well, you know how it goes.

Rain isn’t perfect okay? Nobody is. Rain has had more impact on korean entertainment than any other artists. His career may not be as exciting as it used to be, but come on, you can’t expect perfection ALL THE TIME. Even Einstein has had flops in his career…yea!

Nobody expect him to be perfect, he WAS never perfect (his face 0_o) but it’s a basic courtesy in trying his best as he used to do, not throwing out these embarrassing unoriginal crap with him flopping around and it’s the official whatever for the Olympics, it should be huge, not a boring laughing stock, wrong,lame and dumb on his part on so many levels. I don’t think it was a disappointment. It sounded like any other Smasung Anycall whatever music anyway. So, at least it lived up to the former SDamsung songs.

He doesn’t need to impress you because whatever he does, it’s not good for you anyway.
People thought he couldn’t produce,write and choreograph anything after he left JYP. And now that he did, you think it’s not impressive. What’s new??! It’s not very very very good, but it’s not poor.
The only thing you could do is find faults, even if there’s none or anything worth mentioning, to anything you thought he couldn’t do.

It was super boring and I couldn’t watch the whole thing. Too bad they couldn’t just stick with Anyband — why didn’t they anyway?
I went back and wathed the anyband one and I think Rain’s is better. I don’t like either song but Rain’s vieo entertained me more.
hmm i don’t think the anydream video was any worse than anycall and anystar- though i wished he had stayed away from the theme of newbie-turns-out-to-be-great-dancer theme. i think anymotion and the anyband were samsung’s best.

I’ve been a fan of Rain ever since I got my hands on a copy of the Omarion’s 21 (European version); Man Up was the hotness. I was so angry when a loser band and their nobody record producer sued over the rights to the name “Rain” and ruined his U.S. tour prospects. I wish he’d come back- I’d like to see a “Hard Rain” tour! YUM!

I have to agree that this review’s pretty biased. I see no clear-cut, credible evidence that Anydream is officially a “fail”; just POPSEOUL’s opinion (and the opinions of many commenters on his MV - including me). But that’s no reason to jump to conclusions.
this MV is made for selling more Samsung phone and promotinig Anycall brand particually in China..

I think parting ways with JYP in May 07 marked the start of his downward spiral. Like someone said before, he’s spreadinghimself too thin with too many projects (read : distractions)
I know Dumpling said he’s a better actor than singer but I wld not mind so new (music) material from him. I’m getting bored with the songs which he keeps repeating - I do, It’s Raining, I’m Coming
Then again, he hardly sings these days. That 4 song showcase in Busan was the last we saw of him
IMO, he shld go back to music. Find a good producer, heck reunite with JYP. The old Rain was what worked. This experimental phase, including the long hair does not work
Why start filming another movie when the first hasnt been screened yet? Is he that desperate for recognition in the US ? Let’s get real, even IF and that’s a big IF, Speed Racer does reasonably well, americans are not gonna sit up and give him that recognition.
Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun Fatt, Zhang Ziyi all tried but only succeeded with mediocre results. And i am being kind.
Until i see speed racer or ninja assassin, i am gonna suspend judgement on his big screen acting.

I don’t get all the bashing. I actually liked the Anydream.
Why are you guys critizing him so much? Is it so wrong for him to experiment new things in his life, no matter the outcome? Rain’s doing this because it satisfies his OWN judgement that he sees fit. Give him a break, he’s just doing what he wants to do. You critizers are really biased, and for the critizers that have a smart mouth are just educated biased. It’s hard to picture his friends and fans speak so badly of him, you guys are just people who never liked him in the first place, and seize or stumble upon every chance to speak badly about him. For the most part, if you even feel a slight satisfaction of speaking so lowly of of Rain, then most likely you someone that likes to be the opposite of what everybody is, just to be different, and used this topic as an excuse to take that chance. If you even know how to counter this comment, then you just proved my point about “critizers that have a smart mouth are just educated biased.”

Anydream is no way poorer than Anyband. Dance is so cool. As long as sales is up, it’s all that matter for Samsaung.

It’s been barely a year since he left JYPE. It took him 2, 3 years as a JYPE talent before he achieved superstar status in Korea and Asia. He’s basically starting over again now. Have some patience and give the guy a break.
Oh, and btw, for the gazillionth time: the ‘long hair’ is NOT part of the experimental phase. He has long hair because his new movie role requires him to have long hair. As a fan, you should know that.
Also, Rain did not offer himself to the Wachowskis and Joel Silver to become part of Ninja Assassin. You know that’s not how things work in Hollywood (if you don’t, then now you know). He was asked to audition, and he passed. If it’s a bad idea to cast him even before his bankability as an actor in the US has been tested, then the risk is in the producer’s hands, not Rain’s. Rain would have been very, very stupid to let such a big opportunity pass.
Besides, I don’t see anything wrong about experimenting with new ideas. A true successful artist does that. He can’t keep on sticking with the old formula all the time, it’s gonna go stale. Honestly, if he was still wearing those stupid It’s Raining vests until now, I’d drop him like a hot potato.

I’m not Korean or even asian for that matter but I lived in Japan for two years and traveled all over Asia. I don’t speak Korean but I love Korean entertainment. As an American my buddies are constantly asking me why I watch and listen to Korean movies and musice. I think Korea has awesome talent! I have all the Rain CD’s and his two DVD concerts. I am very suprised to see all the negative Rain comments on this blog. I always assumed he was very popular. I’m assuming the overwhelming majority of people on this site are Korean and therefore I’m suprised that you would be cutting Rain down. He is trying to accomplish a crossover to Western entertainment and do something no Asia singer has been able to do. Rain could open doors up for other asian talent and create a positive image for Korea. Don’t hate…congratulate!
