Sigh. The preview looks pretty crappy. And i loved the original My Sassy Girl. And yes, Hollywood seems to copy so many asian movie...And always manage to make it a dumbed down version with horrible acting and story is much weaker...Search movies like The Eye for example. The american version was lame. Check out many more movies... what's going on hollywood? stop making such craptacular copies.
They need to start being more original.

Wow...the trailer gives a TOTALLY different feel from the Korean movie. It seems darker and doesn't have that funny outrageous spark. Does it take place entirely in the gloomy surreal like bowls of the earth aka subway?

It makes me wonder who culturally specific elements of films are and who they are hiring to rework the movies.

I think a more literal translation (zany, silly) would have done realy well given the current US market for low-brow comedies.

If I never watched My Sassy Girl or knew about it, I'm still not sure I'd want to watch this (US remake) film.

I'm curious to see how 'My Wife Is a Gangster' turns out.

why the hell does Hollywood keep remaking asian films?

I mean they just suck all the greatness from the films and make them sucky.

don't get me wrong they have made some great remakes but they should just leave some movies alone.
Have anyone learn a foreign language or have them all learn to read the sub titles

aaaarrrggghhh!!!! another hollywood remake of an asian classic????

***spit!!!***

can't hollywood create some profound and something that is not formulaic as their recent movies nowadays?

first, there were RINGU (Ring), JU-ON (The Grudge), Dark Water, One Missed Call... and Shutter---which are all remade by Hollywood---but Hollywood fails to please Asian audience because american producers went overacting with their effects and almost distorted the idea of an Asian original.

then, they remade THE EYE. Dang! Just because they starred Jessica Alba doesn't mean they can surpass the Thai-Taiwanese original.

and just before MY SASSY GIRL, there was IL-MARE, which was remade in the persona of THE LAKEHOUSE. Gawd! I'd rather prefer the first one. THE LAKEHOUSE is damn boring. Sandra Bullock and Keannu Reaves looked worse than awkward with their corresponding roles.

Now.... there's MY SASSY GIRL. I bet you guys! Not only the American remake will go crappy but overacting as well because that so-called loveteam above loooked awkward with the role JJH-CTH did.

well, what else is next????

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE?

PARK CHAN WOOK'S VENGEANCE TRILOGY?
(Hahahaha!!!! Is any of the Hollywood stars can give justice to the roles originally done by Song Kang Ho, Shin Ha-kyun, Choi Min-sik, Bae Doo Na, Lee Young Ae? In your dreams hollywood people and its fanatics! None any of those hollywood actresses can play the role great like Lee Young Ae did! They will definitely fail to garner sympathy. Not even Ben Affleck)

SECRET SUNSHINE?

JOINT SECURITY AREA?

To korean movie bashers, before you start accusing korean producers as imitators, better think if hollywood never imitated asians. Korean movies are not as formulaic and trite as Hollywood films. Nowadays, Hollywood films are gettin' uninteresting. If they hit, then they're overrated---especially their romantic comedies.

@ dirty basement, can you list us some of the examples then? They say imitation is the best flattery but too much of it isnt good. And in this case, hollywood making too many remakes.
