Wow, she’s pretty! I LOVE her make-up! lol

    @ janepak

I agree! Look at how hard Bi and 7 are trying and she gets picked up in an instant! The lesson for today is not to try so hard! XD Go lexy!!!

  10. 10 Jackie April 3, 2008 at 3:46 pm

Bi opened for Usher and Big Bang opened for Ciara, it’s not THAT big of a deal really and doesn’t guarantee anything other than a song to perform on 1 night :-P
    So yeah
I like the photo. She looks like she had so work done cuz the last time I saw her (nearly 2 years ago) she was lookin old.

  11. 11 like April 3, 2008 at 4:13 pm

She’s really good. The beat is great and her voice is awesome. It has a really interesting quality to it! And she’s tough and sexy at the same time. We need more Korean Women artists like her. Forget Wonderdorks.

  12. 12 fina April 3, 2008 at 4:15 pm

She did NOT just call one of her songs ‘MA’ people. GTFOH. And america will yet again, make us the laughing stock…

i agree with Jackie, its really not big deal.. if i remember correctly, minwoo and ivy both opened for beyonce for her two-night concert

maybe because im not a big neyo fan, but i heard a lot of good things about him when he came to the philippines
according to articles, he was really, really nice

  20. 20 Donski April 3, 2008 at 7:41 pm

lol…epic fail note to KOREAN “rnb”: dont try too hard. hahaha

  21. 21 ky April 3, 2008 at 8:33 pm

Good for her! She’s extremely talented, and I’m glad she’s been chosen for this. :)

  22. 22 Taejus April 3, 2008 at 8:37 pm

ooh. Now I thought her career was over when I last heard her song, but now, I know that she’s still alive and surprisingly… the chosen one!!

    *gasp*

  23. 23 Blahblahbon April 3, 2008 at 9:17 pm

Why does she sound like a man?
She’s got JYP style sunglasses XD

  24. 24 okeydoke April 3, 2008 at 10:27 pm

  25. 25 Dumpling April 3, 2008 at 10:41 pm

    “MA people”?? Embarrasing.

  26. 26 han April 3, 2008 at 11:01 pm

how does Ne-Yo know of her?

  27. 27 Cheah April 3, 2008 at 11:09 pm

just wait and see… This girl is going to get booed off the stage quicker than you can say POSER. Who the hell came up with ‘ma’ people? who are ‘hurr’ people? They need to check her and her spelling mistakes, cuz she gon get laughed at…

  28. 28 mickyislove April 3, 2008 at 11:54 pm

== ga..we can’t blame her for the track name..
    and it’s just a song..wth
why does it bother some ppl so much?

btw~ she looks better with long hair >.<

  29. 29 aeri April 4, 2008 at 12:52 am

i love lexy… i might be the odd one out but i loved her little tomboy concept during haneulwiro and i love her look in that promo pic.

    CONGRATS to LEXY

    I find Asian RAPPING
    too SORDID for my taste.

And other than the CITIZENS of
Massachusetts, “Ma People” happens to be
    a Mon-Khmer-speaking ethnic group
    in VIETNAM.

  31. 31 asianromance April 4, 2008 at 1:12 am

I’m guessing her people are her supporters and as for it being gramatically incorrect - not like american hiphop singers misspell stuff on purpose all the time like that song by t-pain “buy u a drank”. i like her ma people song- it has a nice beat and though i usually don’t like low voices for female singers, i love lexy’s! I’m glad that NeYo is aware of korean music and singers and had personally chosen her. that’s so sweet!

  32. 32 Dumpling April 4, 2008 at 1:14 am

“not like american hiphop singers misspell stuff on purpose all the time like that song by t-pain “buy u a drank”.”

That’s because that’s how they actually talk. Lexy is not black. She just sounds stupid.

  33. 33 Aasya April 4, 2008 at 1:22 am

I never actually sat down and listened to Lexy.
    Her song is catchy.

  34. 34 Raye April 4, 2008 at 2:15 am

Lexy is so pretty but her music suck. I wish she was a Missy wannabe maybe she’ll have some better songs.

  35. 35 soju April 4, 2008 at 2:45 am

ohhhh yeah … i just BET ne-yo wanted to meet her.

  36. 36 ESL-shrimpeyed April 4, 2008 at 2:46 am

Why didn’t she just title her song “Ma Peeps”???

  37. 37 Cindel April 4, 2008 at 3:07 am

Sheesh, some of ya’ll need to stop hatin!

Lexy is just doing her thing.

  38. 38 Jane. April 4, 2008 at 3:35 am

I dont know why..but she reminds me of Kim Ok Bin. Especially when she smiles

  39. 39 xmissy April 4, 2008 at 4:09 am

congrats to lexy. she deserves it.
her new album is fantastic =D

  40. 40 kanZENmuketsu April 4, 2008 at 4:17 am

“Lexy is the chosen one” HA!

It matters to me more when
US artists ask or invite K-POP stars
    to perform in the States
than to “CHOOSE” a native star to “OPEN”
a concert for the visiting US artists.

    Her ‘world-wide’ exposure
    is still PERIPHERAL.

  41. 41 seri April 4, 2008 at 4:28 am

    congrats ^^
i like it how Ne-Yo requested her instead of someone else being told that “hey! we’re popular! so lets open the show!”

    good luck :)

  42. 42 lin34 April 4, 2008 at 4:44 am

Such a pretty girl. But I don’t get why her music, her swagger, and even the title name is so fake. She’s not from the NY streets is she? She didn’t grow up in the dirty souf or did she? I wish her the best of luck, but I’m sure people are going to find her, like somebody already said, too poser-ish…

  43. 43 mirakhil April 4, 2008 at 6:03 am

omg-i didn’t know that she is so pretty-cuz she looked boyish at her last MV-well, that’s when i started to get to know abt her-well, i dun really like this MV but I’ll give her 4/5-

  44. 44 Mitsuki April 4, 2008 at 6:09 am

I haven’t really heard of her and after watching her music video, I don’t like her voice. Her video was boring to begin with and her voice is terrible. It doesn’t sound original and it is lacking substance.

  45. 45 nx512 April 4, 2008 at 6:21 am

    omg she got pretty!

  46. 46 megan April 4, 2008 at 6:32 am

Neyo is half Chinese !! :D

  47. 47 Alysia April 4, 2008 at 7:23 am

@Mitsuki- I don’t think its terrible, and I think it sounds different… from other korean female singers.

I’m glad for her… but can they STOP with the “gangsta” theme here? Se7en looked like an idiot with that, and now ma people?

MY people or even ma peeps is better. Its like half gangsta half normal everyday english. It sounds really really awkward. And yes, making it completely gangsta is better than half and half… IMO… because I think weird like that. >_>

Stop trying to hard to be American. Take it easy.

  48. 48 WillIRememberMe April 4, 2008 at 8:09 am

Lexy’s been singing stuff like this for years, and her tracks are always catchy.

Please don’t complain about how “gangsta” it is though. I’m tired of liking a song with a beat, just for everyone to call it “oh my gosh it sounds so black!” I mean chill out already.

  49. 49 karitho April 4, 2008 at 8:23 am

Anyone else notice how the sunglasses she wears in the MV resembles the ones worn by Kanye West in Stronger?

  50. 50 tangy April 4, 2008 at 8:38 am

i like lexy….was sad when she left yg

the makeup is so pretty and the shades were cool in the video

    so happy for her!

  51. 51 Ru April 4, 2008 at 8:44 am

“That’s because that’s how they actually talk. Lexy is not black. She just sounds stupid.”

It doesn’t matter if she’s black. Tae Yang did the same thing with his song. Sometimes people mispell words on purpose to make it look trendier or more appealing to fans. “Buy U A Drank” is actually a perfect example. I’m more than sure that she knows how to spell “MY People.” Like, seriously….

I’m glad Lexy’s getting recognized for her talent.

  52. 52 ladytron April 4, 2008 at 8:59 am

nothin’ is cool about being black! IMO rap artists and their listeners alike have I.Q.’s to that of a room temperature.
    talent? yeah right.

  53. 53 gypsymm7 April 4, 2008 at 9:18 am

Love her bad boy style, B*tch makes it look Sexy. Love the single, I hope she rocks the house opening for Neyo.

  54. 54 Leigh April 4, 2008 at 9:25 am

The jewels at the end of her eyes look…unhygienic in a way. =o

  55. 55 Leigh April 4, 2008 at 9:30 am

    The music…and the video…is…lacking, I’d say.

Lexy’s outfit looks really tacky and cheap, especially the glasses.

  56. 56 cindy--rox April 4, 2008 at 9:48 am

lexy looks sexy in the picture!!

  57. 57 SZA April 4, 2008 at 10:03 am

she looks so pretty in the picture..and make-up is perfect and flawless..

  58. 58 tomoko April 4, 2008 at 10:28 am

i usually read all the comments so i don’t repeat something someone else has already said but i’m feeling a little lazy.

i actually like her. very catchy song; she’s not like the typical too-sexy-that-its-overkill type you see other korean singers sporting.

i REALLY like that picture of her. i’d like to try to do my makeup like that… but people would look at me like i’m a retard… so i won’t.

  59. 59 Leigh April 4, 2008 at 11:30 am

    Actually Tomoko, the exaggerated eyeliner do is quite nice. I’d say do it. =}

  60. 60 saewon April 4, 2008 at 11:43 am

    i LOVE lexy!
her new song is differnt, but it’s catchy!
sure the video is a bit cheap, but i don’t think that sb&w has the kind of funds that yg does… no offense.
i love her new style though… it makes her hot even without having to wear revealing clothing.

  61. 61 wendy April 4, 2008 at 1:42 pm

Love her sound!! If this was in English it would so hit the radio stations, clubs, and myspace pages. lol! I like this girly look better, plus her deep voice suits her and her flavor. It’s ok for her to use ghetto slang, she’s label hiphop/rap for a reason. If she was pop then it would sound retarded. Hell look at Chingy’s “Right thurr”. Don’t even complain about her voice! Nelly Furtado sounds worse and she still release a whole bunch of hit singles. I think she’ll do really good.

  62. 62 jj April 4, 2008 at 2:16 pm

    @ karitho: i know huh?..thats the first thing i notice..haha..

the songs is aight..gotta say korean r&b artists have a long way to go if they wanna surpass american artists or @ least to their level..find ur own unique style

    ——————————————————————-

Ladytron, ur comment was very ignorant and condescending as hell! There you go labeling a whole race of people based on a kind of music a small % created and listen to, not all blacks raps and not all blacks listen to rap, people all over the world listen and copy our music, Blacks created R&B, Soul, Pop, Rock & Roll, Country & Gospel. And if being black is not cool, then give us back all the stuff you’re copying on a daily bases, wether it’s our music, dancing, style and creativity!!!

  64. 64 annie April 4, 2008 at 3:15 pm

she’s like the Korean Missy Elliot only better looking. never listened to her before but i like it!

  65. 65 Sharon D. April 4, 2008 at 3:51 pm

    Better looking = yes
    More talented = hell no!!!!

  66. 66 Sharon D. April 4, 2008 at 3:57 pm

And their dancing hurts my eyes. Please, get some Asians or anybody who can actually dance Hip-hop for ur videos. I say The JabbaWockeeZ are the perfect choice, a mostly Asian dance crew who dance hip-hop like it should be done!!!!!!!!!

    P.s., Mah People, is a no-no!!!!

  67. 67 measuringsummer April 4, 2008 at 5:41 pm

Yeah the dancing isnt so nice. Have no idea who she is but her music is very erm.. american.

  68. 68 Dumpling April 4, 2008 at 7:21 pm

I finally clicked on the video. God, she’s hideous. The hiphop act is embarassing, complete with the hand gestures and the head jerking. Also, Lexy looks dyke-y. She just does. Don’t know if she’s actually gay or not, but Americans will think she’s a lesbian. Hope she’s prepared for that if she wants to ever “make it” here.

  69. 69 87yaa April 4, 2008 at 8:37 pm

Dumpling, she’ll never ‘make it’ here. Congrats to her, but she should to korea. This is another embarassing disaster waiting to happen. She might be talented, I don’t know, but she needs to reinvent her whole schtick. This brokedown fake r&b/hiphop flavour is played OUT and will NOT be a hit in the us of a. Ma people? No way.

  70. 70 seung lee April 4, 2008 at 9:43 pm

    it’s only in korea anyway…

  71. 71 lol April 4, 2008 at 9:57 pm

No, Americans are gonna think “Why is a chink trying to act like a nigga?” and end up laughing at what a fool she is. Now if she went for the mullet or skin head look she would pretty much take the cake right there.

  72. 72 Ru April 5, 2008 at 2:47 am

No, Americans are gonna think “Why is a chink trying to act like a nigga?”

Actually, most Americans don’t have a problem with that these days. Most black people actually play along or find it cool to see Asians being urbanized. Doesn’t necessarily make it a bad thing…

  73. 73 oluchi April 5, 2008 at 3:22 am

I have no idea who she is and I can’t understand anything she’s saying but either way, any publicity is good publicity. go girl!

  74. 74 oluchi April 5, 2008 at 3:32 am

on second thought, she sounds a tad dumb. but then again, incorrect grammar has never been attractive, even in accepted music genres. AND she totally copied off a Sean Paul videos. Underground dance off/party and cops come, people scatter concept.

  75. 75 Blubear April 5, 2008 at 3:56 am

She looks beautiful and the song has a really catchy beat!

  76. 76 millie April 5, 2008 at 4:29 am

    good luck lexy!

  77. 77 WillIRememberMe April 5, 2008 at 5:49 am

    Oluchi,

Nah she ain’t dumb. You just need to listen to her other albums.

And if you don’t like her underground dance theme, you probably should have told her that career advice 4 years ago, although I’m not sure if that would make a difference since fans like me don’t drool over Sean Paul.

  78. 78 IT'S A FACT April 5, 2008 at 7:43 am

the only way blacks will accept asians is if the asians act like the blacks. talk like them, dress like them, make music like them. that’s a fact. don’t think for a second that blacks will respect asians on asians’ own terms. they won’t.

  79. 79 Dumpling April 5, 2008 at 7:46 am

    —————————————————————————-

you say all that, Now ask yourself would Asians do the same to blacks!!!!

  81. 81 IT'S A DOUBLE FACT April 5, 2008 at 12:25 pm

no asians wouldn’t do the same to blacks shar. blacks are not and never willbe on a same par with asians and asians know it. asians are busy becoming doctors lawyers and engineers. blacks are covering the sports field and hiphop music. asians are considered to have the highest aptitude for learning among any people in the world and in the united states asians are considered “the model minority”. blacks are known for crime and having multiple children out of wedlock and not going to college. if you have a proble, with this i challenge you to prove me wrong. provide stats and figures please. asians dont have any need or reason to stoop to the level of blacks in order to be accepted by them but blacks do in fact need to rise to the level of asians if they want to get respect from asians. you will no doubt shout “racist” over this but you see this is the problem when it comes to this topic blacks cant handle the truth. they know what the truth is they just don’t want anyone to say it. they have access to the same stats and facts as everyone else does. but they just won’t abide by anyone stating what those facts are. they want people to just not talk about it so they don’t have to face it. by facing it they would have to change and changing takes too much effort. change is not for lazy shiftless people. thats why when someone dares to talk about it blacks right off shout “racism”. its to shut people up. well i wont shut up. let me tell you something. asians like lexy and all the rest debase themselves by lowering themselves to the level of blacks in the hiphop world a world that glorifies drugs, crime and the degradation of women. some asians may think there is something glamorous about the hiphop lifestyle because all they see is the money and the fame that goes with it but as soon as they get a closeup look at the ugly world of american hiphop they will think differently. its easy for lexy et al to sit in korea as outside observers and copy all the moves and the look but who dont know the first thing about real hiphop culture and what a corrosive influence it is on society. theyre just posers. you dont see large numbers of asians in america trying to break into the hiphop world because they know better.

Yeah, black people. I was referring to white people. Almost all white people think asians aren’t up to date with things.(I.E. Music) Thus, the ridicule and the confusion. let’s face it white people are just oblivious to the fact that other cultures change through out time.

  84. 84 Shar April 5, 2008 at 2:18 pm

    To: IT’S A DOUBLE FACT,

please stop acting like you know everything about Blacks, Yes Blacks are on the same par as Asians, you just look it up. There are Blacks who don’t amount to nothing and refuse to do something positive with their lives, but you are talking about a small group , whereas we are all over the world and many, many of us do get our educations, as wells as becoming doctors lawyers and engineers. Please stop generlizing us in one catagory, u sound like someone who hasn’t done your full homework. Please google Blacks inventions. You will find we have hundreds of thousands inventions to our names, as well as many other great achivments. just because Blacks dominates the sports & music industry in America, doesn’t mean thats what all Blacks are about. That’s like me generlizing Asians as having small penises and only do karate, that’s not right and it’s not true, I am an educated black person who happens to have many asian friends and a great respect for Asian culture, I don’t call Asians out of their names, nor do I disrespect them, I judge a person by the content of their character, not by their race or religions, I treat you the same way u treat me. And their are many Blacks who believe as i do. I have been disrespected by Whites, Blacks, Asians and Hispanics, but I also have been treated with great respect by people from those same races. Stop judging any race as a whole. Know the person first, before u give judgement. Thank you!!!!

  85. 85 WillIRememberMe April 5, 2008 at 3:32 pm

    Shar,

Don’t bother with that guy. And while I’m proud of us Asians, I’m pretty sure humanity as a whole has a LOT to learn about the station of any person in life, which means in the scheme of things, blacks, asians, and whites today are all pretty much judgemental morons.

  86. 86 Shar April 5, 2008 at 3:53 pm

“asians on a par with blacks” that’s funny. i did make one mistake i’ll admit and that was that i didn’t clarify i was referring to blacks in america. blacks in other places are very different. they have more self respect and are hard working and all around more classy types. its blacks in america that have the issues.

Wow. All african americans have issues huh…? I love the way you generalize the people who made the music A LOT of your korean flop favourites are influenced by. Lexy. DBSK. Hyori. Big Bang. Go’head baby you name them. Face it. I can give you enough korean ‘artists’ who straight up jack the american (black) R&B hiphop sound and try to make it sound fly and hip in their watered down kind of way. School them Shar.

    Again, to remind you:
