POPSEOUL! needs your help!

Like Rain’s English skills, POPSEOUL! needs to make improvements on the site. We want to hear from you, POPSEOULers on what you honestly think about us…..

This is your chance to give us your best shot.

Fire away!

Please note that if you want to vote on multiple categories, you have to vote again. For example, if there are 3 improvements you feel should be made, you have to vote 3 times.

  2. 2 Mel July 31, 2008 at 3:09 pm

It is kinda ok, I know u guys are doing the best right now…. more Kdrama news and up to date news would be alright for me… but I am satisfied already :)

  3. 3 oh snap July 31, 2008 at 3:38 pm

actually this site is now worst than Rain’s English, i dont really know what it is but this site seems to be missing something that it had before

  4. 4 popseoul July 31, 2008 at 3:42 pm

oh snap- so what is that “it”?

  5. 5 UHM July 31, 2008 at 4:02 pm

Stop the mindless bashing/fillers. and bring back the seoulsister!

  6. 6 I think July 31, 2008 at 4:02 pm

I think he/she is referring to “it”… its missing sarcasm?

  7. 7 rachael July 31, 2008 at 4:04 pm

    stop being so judgmental

  8. 8 kanginGF418 July 31, 2008 at 4:16 pm

    be NICER!
if you hate every single star you write about, why bother to write about them?
to me, it seems as if you hate every single singer/actor/model you write about!
    STOP THE BASHINGG!

  9. 9 choo July 31, 2008 at 4:20 pm

Just learn how it is to be human. That’s all.

  10. 10 Kimhana July 31, 2008 at 4:20 pm

I really want Popseoul to create a forum section for all Popseoulers to hang out and to comments about the specific topic…the comment section is not enough!!!!!

  11. 11 Yanno July 31, 2008 at 4:36 pm

Needs better English and better journalism. Stop the kiddy jokes. Also, don’t make up rumors without any real sources/evidence - it’s pretty ignorant to make generalizations.

  12. 12 pandoracat July 31, 2008 at 4:44 pm

popseoul is okay…i like the star-bashing and biased posts ^^
that makes the celebrities look more like “human” and not “semi-god” that never makes mistake… ^^~

  13. 13 suck it up July 31, 2008 at 4:45 pm

dang! I cant choose everything else?!

some tips: when writing sarcasm dont state it like what you did to that Suju article. try to lessen the hackneyed criticisms/jokes/sarcastic remarks.

ps. dont talk nasties about dbsk [ha! this one im just being a fangirl].

  14. 14 azns July 31, 2008 at 4:46 pm

yes stop the bashing…it is getting so OLD!

  15. 15 sujuftw22 July 31, 2008 at 4:56 pm

    hmm…
well, I rely on Popseoul! a lot for updates, and a lot of
the posts allow me to find new artists and shows, etc.

I’m not at all a fan of the celebrity-bashing.
I think it’s okay to engage in some repartee, but
to have been so downright mean to many artists is
quite the contrary of what a great blog should be about.

I think Popseoul! needs to start telling the news stories
like it is, and … spice things up?
Seems like there’s been quite a few less visitors since
    all the drama.

    Anyway, regardless of the bashing…
[I must admit, even though Popseoul! has been quite harsh towards some of my favorite bands, i.e. Super Junior and DBSK (okay, you've not done too much verbal harm to them), I was very amused at some of the witty remarks made.]

I hope Popseoul! keeps doing well in the future.
    (:

  16. 16 dgedg July 31, 2008 at 5:06 pm

    Allkpop is better.

  17. 17 metro July 31, 2008 at 5:13 pm

since many visit your blog why not practice responsible journalism. this blog might even be more popular than ever. what do you think? you can still add your sarcasm though, but be more responsible in getting your news. heard of the word libel? this may be a blog but the law has it’s eyes and ears too.

also, write not only what interest you or your group but everyone since there is a a scarcity in entertainment news translated in korean.

  18. 18 metro July 31, 2008 at 5:15 pm

sorry that should have been — scarcity in the entertainment news translated in english.

  19. 19 metro July 31, 2008 at 5:16 pm

oh..that should have been scarcity in the entertainment news translated in english.

  20. 20 popseoul July 31, 2008 at 5:29 pm

metro- it looks like we also need a feature so readers can correct their comments!

  21. 21 metro July 31, 2008 at 5:36 pm

you are absolutely correct popseoul, you need a an edit feature in your reply box.

  22. 22 pandoracat July 31, 2008 at 6:03 pm

owh and some login account might do as well

  23. 23 name July 31, 2008 at 6:17 pm

don’t bash celebs for ridiculous reasons and promote fan war.

    more music news.

a feature to correct comments would be nice.

  24. 24 Carmela July 31, 2008 at 6:47 pm

Love your new banner Popseoul!!!!! :)

  25. 25 DUMBO July 31, 2008 at 7:29 pm

Stop asking for feedback and start updating! people will bitch non stop if you let them, no matter how good or bad a site it. Just update often and no matter how crappy this site is, people will continue to come to get their kpop fix.

  26. 26 Jill July 31, 2008 at 8:02 pm

i like the bantering and the bashing..it’s fun..
anything on ..it’s a cool spot.

  27. 27 lol July 31, 2008 at 9:05 pm

    less ‘news’ from korean sources
more posts about korean celebrity fashion
    and please - NO FORUM!

  28. 28 Nick July 31, 2008 at 10:34 pm

Nice job so far. I have fun reading comments and replies. I demand a DBSK banner.

  29. 29 Sara July 31, 2008 at 10:36 pm

Please, be nicer! Stop calling Super Junior the “super circus” and all that. I understand if you don’t like them, but please be nice to them.

  30. 30 palki July 31, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Keep your writing short and simple. Don’t try too hard. And don’t care too much about what other people think. Snarky is good….that’s the whole point of popseoul!

  31. 31 avionne July 31, 2008 at 11:59 pm

I actually like this site..i think it’s fine..and i learned alot about korean celebrities and fashion..so i don’t think it’s as bad as other people is making out to be.

dgedg - getting some good blowjobs for that, I presume.

There’s a borderline between intentional bashing/calling names and being snarky, but I’ve yet to see that borderline clear. It just looks like you’re bashing just to start some drama because that’s the only way the site will survive. Why don’t you show us you can keep this site alive without drama>

  34. 34 Leelee August 1, 2008 at 12:46 am

    POPSEOUL!,

Please NEVER EVER EVER stop being b*tchy — no matter what your readers say. Some of them are in high school or middle school, so of course they would say that — they’re idiots. The only reason I read this site is because it’s funny. Hell, we all love the scandal and rumors. That’s the truth that no one wants to admit — that we all love a good scandal.

Girl, if you stop writing “snarky”, people might be happy for a little while. But then they’ll yawn, stop reading your site, and go elsewhere. And that would be the worst thing of all.

Anyway, there’s nothing wrong with making fun of celebrities. They are public figures and therefore subject to criticism. And isn’t it saying something that your readers are arguing over stuff? Argumentation is GOOD. It means you’re getting people to think.

This site isn’t meant to be a news site. If they really want to look for news, they can go find it — they should stop being lazy.

And for all those people that say POPSEOUL! should practice fair journalistic techniques….STFU! Are you all STUPID? You want to read boring, yawn-worthy articles that’ll put you to sleep and praise everybody and their dog? Get real. You know you wouldn’t read these sites if they weren’t interesting. This is no New York Times — it’s an US Weekly. And you know, I don’t consider that a bad thing — I read both.

  35. 35 Daniel K August 1, 2008 at 12:59 am

The poll would have been better if one could have voted for more than one thing. My vote was to be nicer. You don’t have to kiss ass to the celebs, but I am getting sick of the trash-em/Perez Hilton style of celeb blogs. I come here for pics and info, don’t need the attitude.

  36. 36 popseoul August 1, 2008 at 1:02 am

Daniel K- try the poll again… it should work.

  37. 37 Daniel K August 1, 2008 at 1:04 am

    To clarify my response:

I do like it when your sarcasm gives reference to some other scandal we may have not known about. Or when you make fun of an artist to reflect the poor reception they may be getting in Korea. Those bits are informative. I just don’t like people who are mean for the sake of being mean, and because its trendy now.

  38. 38 popseoul August 1, 2008 at 1:08 am

Daniel K- that was helpful -thanks for clarifying…

  39. 39 popseoul August 1, 2008 at 1:17 am

  40. 40 xbetchayx August 1, 2008 at 1:54 am

popseoul i love your site. i love the b*tchiness, snarkinest and i agree with leelee on this matter. for those of u who are still high school kids, there is more to korean industry than SUJU, DBSK, SNSD etc. i can’t stand them ignoring talented actors like ryu seung bum and “goes who are them”?

i want to hear more news and gossip like who is going out with who or like the IVY scandal. no more posting pictures just to make fun of them. that’s no news just rubbish (but the red carpet critics i like). maybe some papparazi pictures of these celebs personal activities. that would be awesome!

  41. 41 vertigo August 1, 2008 at 2:18 am

    popseoul!
u know i love you right?!
since you threw that other loser out, your site has been improving and going back to its roots. I would enjoy your blog a little more if the info was more diverse. Tired of idol groups….ya, they are already everywhere.. Feature stories with be amazing.. i’m sure u can pull it off…Fighting!

  42. 42 vertigo August 1, 2008 at 2:23 am

and yeah, don’t stop being snarky.. i like the little nicknames you have for celebrities. Its HILARIOUS! like someone said above, get to the point. meaning short sentences.. jokes wear out if u try too hard.. don’t explain your jokes either, its lame…a forum here would be crazy… everybody wanting to rant would come here..since forums like soompi don’t allow people to have their own mind…

  43. 43 Cathy August 1, 2008 at 4:57 am

    All of the above!!!!!

  44. 44 koshita02 August 1, 2008 at 6:24 am

I don’t expcect you to read all of our comments, but I feel impelled to add my 2-cents. . .

For the comment section, add reply and edit features and if possible, add a Positive/ Negative feedback options (e.g. thumbs down/ thumbs up Youtube-like feature).

Also, could you make it so that the order of the comments is from Most Recent to Later (older) Posts. I seems that the order of comments starts with the oldest post, instead of the most recent opinions added to the entry. I just hate seeing the first thing on the comment section being the oldest comment saying “first.”

Yes, your bitchy-ness make your entries fun, but less of it would be appreciated. I voted for your blog entries to be more balanced (not necessarily nicer). More News, less Gossip. . .

  45. 45 poppy August 1, 2008 at 7:23 am

yeah, I agree with Leelee. Don’t ever stop being mean, k? If you do, I’ll never come visit again. I like your sarcasm, sometimes brutal honesty. I think you need to change the site though. I don’t know what happened, but for the last couple weeks, POPSEOUL! seems to be moving around quite often. I think you need to move to a new server or somethin’. But I don’t mind the way it is right now, so keep up the good job!

  47. 47 em2007 August 1, 2008 at 7:45 am

As the saying goes “you can’t please all of the people all of the time!” The site is what it is, we can take it or leave it. As for some constructive criticism. . . diversify the celebrities you write about. Lately, it seems you’re obsessing on Rain. I like the “snarky”, sassy articles. I think that’s what sets you apart from other mundane sites. Popseoul does seem to lack “it” since the split. “It” is something that’s intangible. . . a spark?

  48. 48 SP August 1, 2008 at 8:43 am

I go to a better entertainment news source than Popseoul. At times, they try too much to be witty that sometimes, their remarks become more rude than needed.

Whatever, i’ll check out their site from time to time but it’s hardly encouraging.

  49. 49 Loki August 1, 2008 at 9:16 am

I like Dlisted’s writing style, they can be really harsh though, but highly entertaining.

  50. 50 Victor August 1, 2008 at 11:24 am

What you have to do is find your own writing style. I suspect the “sister” who left had a popular writing style that you’re trying to mimic. Unfortunately, it’s pretty difficult to do so.

Find your own writing style and use it. Then perhaps it will catch on. Right now, it looks like a poor attempt at copying someone elses style and it just doesn’t sound right.

  51. 51 Beckbeck August 1, 2008 at 11:28 am

What can you do to improve?
Put up more Lee Minwoo articles :P

  52. 52 bokjok August 1, 2008 at 11:47 am

    more RAIN articles please hehe…
    please be mean
by the way DUMBO is right just update often and people will come.

  53. 53 palki August 1, 2008 at 1:32 pm

Take Victor’s great advice. Do your own thing.

  54. 54 popseoul August 1, 2008 at 1:44 pm

FYI: this is my own writing style….^ ^

  55. 55 em2007 August 2, 2008 at 3:13 am

The articles in PopSeoul are now nothing more than glorified titles. There’s no substance to them. Popseoul, that is not a writing style. You need to develop a writing style.

  56. 56 ika August 2, 2008 at 11:39 am

can you guys post stuff earlier?

like if any celebrities leave Korea?
(like when Fly to the Sky went to the US!!!)

  57. 57 millie August 2, 2008 at 1:36 pm

i find your current work just fine for me
please just don’t shut down the site again

  58. 58 K August 3, 2008 at 3:22 pm

y isn’t there an option for “Writing style: pls don’t be completely random and lame”, or “Less completely news worthless posts”…

  59. 59 BigBan August 18, 2008 at 12:24 am
