what the hell are you trying to say popseoul?
seo in young isnt ugly
and her chin is fine
why do you have to bash on seo in young when she’s pretty
her sisters pretty too but so is seo in young
girls can never be pretty in korea. everyone accuses them of having plastic surgery done. whether it’s true or not is not the issue. i’m just pointing out the fact that without even knowing anything, they immediately say “plastic!”
What is it with Korean’s and their obsession with plastic surgery? And by that I mean, their fanataicism with trying to pick people apart to see if they’ve had plastic surgery. So what if they have,it’s their business. These guess who had surgery? posts are so lame. Are Koreans so insecure that if someone does not accept their idea of beauty, they feel slighted? It’s so ridiculous.
“girls can never be pretty in korea. everyone accuses them of having plastic surgery done. whether it’s true or not is not the issue. i’m just pointing out the fact that without even knowing anything, they immediately say “plastic!”
I’m not saying SIY is not plastic but I totally agree with this. It’s practically a CRIME if a Korean (specifically Korean) girl is pretty (just pretty at all, not even gorgeous). Nobody gets the benefit of the doubt. Any pretty Korean face is considered fake. Any ugly Korean face is used as proof that Koreans are all ‘naturally’ ugly. While Korean celebs get ps, no question – this accusing of EVERY remotely pretty Korean girl, celeb or not (I’m not talking about SIY and her sister specifically) of being plastic is bordering on sheer RACISM. And it IS racism because being specifically Korean is strike against you if you are a pretty girl, period. The fact that Asian celebs from non-Korean countries that have FAR HIGHER rates of plastic surgery/capita people (link above) mysteriously escape this stereotype only supports this idea.
This assumption that no Korean girl can be pretty w/o extra ‘work’ is made even worse because people assume that plastic surgery somehow automatically equates to some kind of moral deficency.
Example: “What is it with Korean’s and their obsession with plastic surgery? And by that I mean, their fanataicism with trying to pick people apart to see if they’ve had plastic surgery. So what if they have,it’s their business. These guess who had surgery? posts are so lame. Are Koreans so insecure that if someone does not accept their idea of beauty, they feel slighted? It’s so ridiculous.”
Albeit this is a website about Korean entertainment but for example, at CrunchyRoll, it’s shocking to see how often topics like ‘Korean plastic surgery’ regularly pop up. This growing racism is truly slowly taking away all Korean girl’s right to BE pretty or, for chrissake, be photogenic without being assumed to be somehow morally and emotionally deficient.
Obviously, an entertainment site shouldn’t demand critical thinking – but keeping an open-mind and refraining from making sweeping generalizations is a simply an act of decency. Needless to say, comments like the above say far more about the moral and emotional deficiencies of the Commenters than the celebrities themselves.
nah, they look kinda alike… the pic is just a bad one of seo in young and a good one of the sister… also, the sister has angled her head quite a bit, so the chin isn’t that visible.
Maybe its just the pics but I think the ygr sis looks cuter…way cuter. Im not really into SIY’s looks.
BTW, I dont give a dam if any actor/actress gets plastic surgery, as long as they feel better about themselves and has the $ then why not. Thats what freedom is all about.
Thank god the sister doesn’t look like Seo In Young! She’d have to get plastic surgery too! There’s nothing pretty about that face at all! Even AFTER plastic surgery, Seo In Young still looks weird!
@ Racism? I hope you did not misunderstand what I was trying to convey. My issue is with the commenters and Korean society, not the people who are accused of having had surgery. I think the stars,or whoever chooses to have surgery has every right to do what makes them happy.
“76 percent (!) of Korean women in their 20s and 30s have undergone plastic surgery. Most of them were epicanthoplasty (i.e. the “double-eyelid surgery”.) (So does this mean that 24 percent of Korean women are naturally hot? Something to think about.)”
omgg eww. Disgusting plastic faces. Ew. I do admit, her sister did come out better than her. but still, I hate anyone that has done plastic surgery. Come on. There are so many natural beauties out there. -__-
It’s good for the lil’ sis that she doesn’t look like big sis who looks plastic and ugly as hell! Hopefully she doesn’t have the same fake and annoying personality as well!
stop hating on her… damn! siy is pretty nd a btr singer than hyori nd in Korea most artist retire at 30 TOPS 35 uhm jang hwa is a very rare case so siy will still be hot even when hyro vanishes frum the seen… nd siy is vry pretty gosh if u dnt like her stop writing about her!
all three girls had plastic surgery on their eyes. There is nothing racist about pointing that out.
In fact, I think it might actually raise awareness about the insecurity of Koreans about their looks. It is very true that the majority of Korean girls do not look at all like the female stars in the entertainment industry.
No matter how much Korean girls try to deny having any surgery, there is a specify type of scar that all eyelid surgeries leave behind. So there is no running away from the truth.
It is really sad that these korean girls resort to eyelid surgery. It comes to show how little self confidence they have.
it seems like in korea if you have bad looks it’s a lose-lose for you. you get laughed at for being ugly and when you get plastic surgery you are accused of being fake. sad, sad world.
yeah i hate it how people bash basically all korean celebs on plastic surgery, actually asian celebrities in general, however koreans more specifically.
I think there is a general perception that Korea is full of plastic surgery, and hey it probably is, but it’s not nice to bash ALL these korean celebrities.
^^ Her sister is pretty. Seo In Young just has a longer face and smaller eyes. I still think she’s pretty~
Hmmm, to me siblings just don’t look alike at all(from what I’ve encountered). I don’t look like my sib, not at all.
her sister is so pretty
how old is SIY…?
her sister looks really pretty…
i don’t even look like my sibling too..
Maybe they’d look more similar if Suh In-young wasn’t a man.
if she hadn’t gone under the knife so much..maybe they would’ve resembled. but it looks like her sister also had some work done
her sister is so so so much more prettier than her -______-;
Her sister’s pretty bomb.
what the hell are you trying to say popseoul?

Her chin is so weird looking. Plastic not fantastic.

SIY is scarey looking why do some people insist that she is pretty when she clearly isn’t???
they looked alike before SIY did all that crap to her face.
girls can never be pretty in korea. everyone accuses them of having plastic surgery done. whether it’s true or not is not the issue. i’m just pointing out the fact that without even knowing anything, they immediately say “plastic!”
her sister looks pretty and she doesn’t have a mushroom head!!
What is it with Korean’s and their obsession with plastic surgery? And by that I mean, their fanataicism with trying to pick people apart to see if they’ve had plastic surgery. What is up with all of this annoying news about Sun In Young. Does Popseoul really have nothing better to write about?

but they do look like siblings.. I think they reminds of each other in some way.. but it´s def. not “scarily-alike”, like some siblings..
re>_____lol

That’s cool they all don’t look alike but they are all pretty in their own way.

Her sister doesn’t really look like her. Or maybe because… *keeps mouth shut*
It’s good for the lil’ sis that she doesn’t look like big sis who looks plastic and ugly as hell! Hopefully she doesn’t have the same fake and annoying personality as well!
why do korean chicks always take close up shots to make their faces look distorted..its like trying to look like damn anime faces..
i agree with rob lol siy’s sister is trying to be all cutesy thats annoying and she is pale as can be… siy is attractive and she’s herself. siy aja!

I won’t judge by these photo’s unless I see a normal photo of the sister without heavy lighting and close angle.
