Kong Hyo-jin is looking for love

What a transformation! Kong Hyo Jin bravely sheds her quirky-cute image for a frizzy haired & ruddy-faced country bumkin. In the new movie, “Miss Carrot” (미쓰 홍당무), Miss Kong takes on the role of a Russian language high-school teacher, Yang Mi-sook, with an unrequited love for the handsome Mr. Suh, played by Lee Jong-hyuk. Sounds like another 200lb Beauty, but without the extra weight.

The romantic comedy, “Miss Carrot,” directed by Lee Kyong-mi will hit the theaters on October 16th, 2008.

Check out the short video clip of the photoshoot for the movie poster at Maxmovie here. It’s obvious that the ruddy skin was photoshopped in but the frizzy hair is her own.

khanhu: she is one of korea’s most versatile actresses, IMHO. she might not possess looks like Song Hye Gyo or Kim Tae Hee but her acting ability is greater.

I loved her in Thank You and I think it takes a REAL actress to be able to portray different roles

isn’t that shim mina? or is kong hyo jin her real name?

  9. 10 jicks August 13, 2008 at 9:51 pm

^Gong Hyo Jin is her real name (“Sang Doo! Let’s Go To School”, “Thankyou”, “M”) Shin Min A (“A Love to Kill”, “The Devil”, “A Bittersweet Life”) is someone else, although both have worked w/ Bi/Rain if that’s where you are getting confused.

BUT OMFG. This poster leaves me speechless. But I do wanna see the movie!

I agree with ’suck it up’; definitely one of Korea’s better actors. An actor’s actor. This sounds slightly crude but, in a country obsessed with superficial beauty (rigidly and narrowly defined), it’s a safe bet that when they don’t fit the standard they’re actually talented. She was also in “Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy”/”Hello My Teacher”.

“The romantic comedy, “Miss Carrot,” directed by Ban Chan-wook”

who is “Ban Chan-Wook”, popseoul?? isn’t it Park Chan-Wook? How can you not recognize such a famous director as PCW? Park Chan-Wook is like the Steven Spielberg of Korea.

What’s with her playing teacher all the time? Well, not all the time but still. Anyways, I bet it was challenging for her to take on this role..
