Taking special leave from his military duties, Gong Yoo pays his last respects to his friend and co-star in the drama, Coffee Prince, Lee Eon by leading the funeral procession early August 23rd 2008.
The day earlier on August 22nd, Gong Yoo offered an apology to his friend on his Cyworld minihompy by featuring a photo of him with the words :
“It’s strange. The night before you left, I happened to listen again to the message you read on the radio for me… suddenly, I thought of you and I missed you, and I wanted to call ? I should have called. I should have forced you to change that persistent ring tone. I’m sorry.”
Gong Yoo arrived at the hospital’s funeral room a little after midnight on August 23 for the funeral procession at 4am. Over 100 friends and family attended.
Model turned actor Lee Eon tragically died in an motorcycle accident on August 21st 2008.

Glad to know that GY would really take time off for his friend. It only shows what kind of a person he truly is. Sadly that Lee Eon has to leave this early…. I tried watching coffee prince again but I couldn’t stop getting sad every time I would see Min Yeop… Rest in Peace.
Rest in peace dear Lee Eon. You’ve brought laughter to so many of us but it’s such an irony that you should leave this world in such a violent manner.
