Numero Magazine (Korea) has the right idea.
Instead of getting an American celebrity with a not-so-sparkling reputation, why not just slap a blond wig on a Korean celebrity- you know, let’s say, Sung Yuri?
The 27 year old is another virtually unrecognizable star in a magazine feature. Set on a desert backdrop near Los Angeles, the singer turned actress could easily be mistaken for a white person in the wig and washed out colors.
Sung Yuri has reached the ultimate beauty ideal in Korea-to look non-Korean. And did I mention, she looks fabulous?
Um…helllooooo….she looks unrecognizable because her face is covered and she isn’t looking straight into the camera…not because she’s blonde. She’d look like Sung Yuri if she looked into the camera close up (as in the 5th picture).

I actually think it is sad how Koreans try to be caucasian at all cost… thinking that being white and blonde it’s being beautiful… *tsk* *tsk* sadd…

BEAUTIFUL! she looks like an anime/manga character to me! not that many asian people can pull off that blond wig. It’s wonderful how she retains a bit of her asian face but keep everything else caucasian- so you can’t really tell if she is asian or white or mixed.

this is a travesty. hot or not. i hate it when folks pull this crap. i guess the photog was going for an interesting concept. but it comes across to the west as self hatred. there are enough white folks going around saying that asians are trying to look white (which is not the case… the standard of asian beauty with the big eyes and egg face were around long before any interaction with white folks. and the japanese even thought they looked like freaks when they were first encountered).
this is just giving white folks more wood for their fire. two thumbs down.

As a “white folk” I have to ask how this is personally giving me more proverbial wood for my fire. I don’t see this photoshoot as self-hating at all, and anybody that does is either blind, an idiot, or both. I think blonde suits Sung Yu-Ri perfectly, and as a matter of fact, I think she looks better blonde than alot of caucasian women would.

chill out, man.. what’s wrong with the “white” thingy? yes, she is spotted with white wig this photoshoot. so what? what’s the big deal about it? does it mean she is tring to be a Causasion or “non-Asian” just because she wears a white/blonde wig? it’s just the concept of this photoshoot. and she is borned with fair skin, which is a truth.
she dosn’t looks like a Caucasion to me, even with that white/blonde wig. she looks fabulous. like the concept cuz it’s unique.

Why are you people blaming Yuri?? Hate to break this to you but her entire look AND the angles of her face in the photos are dictated COMPLETELY by the photographer. So don’t blame Yuri for trying to be “white” or that she has no pride/ self esteem or whatever.

its like when asian wear blue and green contacts, and then dye their hair blonde, and then use bleaching products for their skin to appear more pale. why are so many people hating on whites? “white dog” or w/e your saying. calm down and stop acting like 2 year old children. her skin is whiter naturaly than alot of white people, so in a way she is “white”, not caucasian though, but she’s not claiming this, is she? I personally hate that wig, but I also think asians look good blonde (some of them), and have alot of friends who do this. it’s their hair, let them decide what color they want it.
yeah, I don’t like how alot of asians (especialy koreans, I’d know) are trying to look “white”, but there are also whites trying to look asian, I’ve seen this as well. & whoever thinks whites made that the standard of beauty in korea, I dout it, becuase alot of whites think latinas are the standerd of beauty, and again, some also think asians are. beauty is what you want it to be, so just calm down.

Stop hating on Yuri. Everything she does someone hates. She’s only the subject..Not the person taking, producing,or manipulating the shot. She’s does what she is asked. The shots are great-a bit Gothic..but beautiful. She’s human-First-(that’s all of US). Beautiful Second-(that’s some of US). Korean-(who’s counting). She could be green She still is a beatiful Human being.
