Bae Yong-joon milks it

Why a cartoon? Wasn’t the drama enough? Does Bae Yong-joon have to milk everything possible from his ajumma fans? (Even though we know that the ajummas will gladly give all the milk they can!)

Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo have agreed on taking part of the animated series of their ever popular drama “Winter Sonata” scheduled for airing in 2009 in both Korea and Japan.

With director, Seong Baek Yeob of “Oseam”, writer Kim Hyeong Hwan of “Superstar Mr. Gam”, and producer Lim Jeon Hyeong of “The Legend”, this all star crew will joint produce this new feature with Japan.

It looks like Yon-sama fever will be spreading like wildfire all across Asia once again.

Nah, Americans are obsessed with celebrity gossip more than celebrities themselves.

But I truly meant what I said about feeling bad for Mr. Bae’s fans.

I once read a story where a fan had come to Korea to meet him. She was a house wife who came from China, I believe. The poor lady upon reaching Korea ended up getting lost and on top of that she was illiterate. However, don’t worry, she was found and she did return home…if she meet Mr. Bae or not, I don’t know.

As for the media hating him, well any journalist will hate an actor who always regurgitates the same thing over and over again.

Whenever he speaks most of the things seem rehearsed and if he didn’t get a chance to write it before hand, he starts to write his ideas down on paper before he opens up his mouth during interviews.

I think even the journalists are fed up and want to see the human side of Mr. Bae and not the mundane prosaic side.

  3. 3 Constructive Critic August 30, 2008 at 1:11 am

Or the media reports gossip on him because they need to generate profits.

And since Mr. Bae doesn’t grant too many interviews nor does he go on T.V. shows, people don’t know much about him. They try to piece together whatever information they have and try to come up with a story to print.

But since the information is incomplete, instead of being the truth…it is just whatever the frustrated journalist’s perspective of Mr. Bae turns out to be.

I think media reports gossips over and over for certain actors because they don’t respect that actor. The actors they really respect, they report on within reason but they don’t constantly try to dig for dirt. BYJ is a man without sperm and I think the media likes to pound him hard. I should feel sorry for BYJ but I just sense something not honest beneath his puffy, bloated face.

  5. 5 POP THIS! August 30, 2008 at 7:15 am

I mean think about it. Who in the name of goddess shows up at a colleague’s movei premeire in shades and a fedora?? Like he’s too good for people to see his eyes? I really don’t like his vain, bloated, spermless self.

  6. 6 POP THIS! August 30, 2008 at 7:21 am

You nailed it, Con Crit. Just like always. He really does regitate the same crap over and over. It’s like a script he has written and just says the same suff. It’s so unappealing. The truth is there is a singer that I really like and he does this, too. He’s a Virgo, like BYJ. Every interview, it’s the same little one-liners, the same little jokes, the same little anecdotes, the same speech when he explains about his project. It’s possible this annoying habit is a Virgo trait, because Virgos want everything to be perfect and they like having to think on their feet becaause they fear messing up in front of people. And they lack self-confidence. So they plan everything out and make sure their life is in control. I won’t blame BYJ 100% for this–I mean, I won’t say this means he is dishionest or something. Seems like just an ordinary weak trait. But the least he could do is write some new sh*t is all he’s going to do is “rinse and repeat”. At least spice up the script once in a while with some new material.

    BYJ. The spermless wonder.

  7. 7 POP THIS! August 30, 2008 at 7:22 am

“and they like having to think on their feet” = that should be “they DON’T like having to think on their feet”.

The spermless, bloated, vain, self-repeating wonder.

    @ POP THIS!

I don’t think he showed up at the premiere in shades and fedora hat to show that he is better than his junior. I mean, it’s Korea. It is the same country where women wear mini skirts in the winter because they think it makes them fashionable.

Mr. Bae may be a big celebrity but the man’s fashion sense is very questionable and his stylists aren’t always so helpful either.

Either Mr. Bae has grown fond of the fedora hat or his stylist has and she has convinced him that he looks really nice in it. And you have said yourself that Virgos lack self confidence, so maybe he is just doing what his stylist told him to do instead of putting his foot down.

Or the man is too lazy to comb those long tresses and wears a hat to cover up bad hair days.

    @ POP THIS!

If he truly is a fearful, lacking self confidence type of a Virgo then I pray that he finds a strong woman.

I guess East Asian astrology does have some logic behind it. The twelve animal signs of the zodiac are coupled together by comparing their weaknesses and strengthen. Each animal is supposed to bring to the relationship a trait that the other animal lacks. What one lacks, the other substitutes for it, sort of like keeping a balance.

Not only is he a Virgo but he is a Rat sign. The reason why the Rat is paired off with the Ox sign now makes sense.

  11. 11 POP THIS! August 30, 2008 at 11:05 pm

Con Cit: Interesting about the Chinese signs. I am a pig. If you read this, can you tell me what I match with?

About BYJ’s stylist, I believe he does whatever she says. And her taste is really poor. She is a very short little quiet woman who has been with BYJ for a long time. So I think he just listens to her and takes her opinion. And I think you are right–she convinces him something is fashionable and looks good on him, so he sticks with it. He is actually a very passive man and has admitted this himself. You know that shirt he’s wearing with the fedora? he’s been wearing it for the past year. You can see it in numerous photos. He’s really stuck on some notion that it’s the most awesome shirt ever. Did you see the nasty long coat he was wearing when he went to NY the first time (when he went to DC to church with Philip)? Nastiest coat ever.

    Hi Pop This!

I have done my research. And it turns out that Pigs are compatible with Rabbits and Goat. Though the signs you should avoid are Monkeys and Snakes, especially Snakes.

And thanks for defending me on the other post.

  13. 13 POP THIS! August 31, 2008 at 10:11 am

Thanks for the Pig info! :)

  14. 14 Constructive Critic August 31, 2008 at 10:19 am

    @ Pop This!

Now as for that long coat. It was designed by John Galliano. Mr. Galliano has won the British Designer of the Year award for the years, 1987, 1994, 1995 and 1997.

And yes I did find the coat odd at first and hideous but…I believe if you look again carefully Mr. Bae seems to look younger in that coat. He looks, dare I say, kinda cute (well he did in the picture, okay…so don’t look at my post a little weird).

The cut of the coat fits him much better than half the suits and sweaters he has worn previously, probably thanks to his stylist.

I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this or not but lately Mr. Bae’s personal clothing style has been changing towards looking younger. The faded denim jeans and blazer are okay but once the fedora hat gets added, the whole look just doesn’t seem to suit his age. The whole ensemble seems appropriate for a young man in his late 20s like Rain aka Bi not a middle age man like Mr. Bae.

  15. 15 Constructive Critic August 31, 2008 at 11:21 am

But it is nice to see that he is experimenting with his look. Anything new is refreshing.

  16. 16 Constructive Critic August 31, 2008 at 11:34 am

I forgot to add that the ensemble of Mr. Bae that I am talking about also had white sneakers.

He had on a white t-shirt, faded denim jeans, a blazer, his black fedora and white sneakers.

  17. 17 POP THIS! August 31, 2008 at 11:01 pm

I thought the coat was the ugliest thing I ever saw. It doesn’t matter to me how many awards the designer won.

About BYJ’s style: I agree, he’s trying to look younger. I think it’s why he’s hanging on to his long hair. I suspected that when he wouldn’t cut it after there was no reason to keep ot long and he stated he likes having it that way. Then he started with the “rock star” necklaces and bracelets. And the jeans and the shirts that have a torn look. It’s just too much. He’s approaching forty and also he does not have the natural coolness of someone like Jang Dong Kun who can pull off jeans and T-shirts. JDG is the same age as BYJ but JDG has a naturaly ease and bright personality, he looks youthful without even trying. Some people say that in person JDG even looks 8 ot 10 years younger than his age. BYJ just looks sad and lonely and he wants to be hip and cool. But he’s not. He has a more natural elegant look and he should go with that.

You’re admitting now that you really go to BYJ sites.
Contradicting what you said that before that you dont.

Tell me who are the other names of the people who are not BYJ fans but who went there too.

You are now shouting on top of your lungs calling people names. ha..ha..ha.. I thought all along.. I am right all along…

  19. 19 POP THIS! September 1, 2008 at 1:58 am

I never denied going there. I denied posting there under other screen names as other people. I never said I don’t go there. Just like you come to Pop Seoul even though you hate it so much.

    @ POP THIS!

Please calm down. I too felt anger at first but then I realized getting mad at a fanatic won’t solve anything. A fanatic can’t be reasoned with, nor will they calm down to even once listen to your side of the story. For a fanatic the entire world is either white or black with no gray shades.

    Look:
Getting mad makes us get stressed.
Getting stressed weakens our immune system.
Weak immune system can lead to catching a cold easily.

So for the sake of your health, please just let them be.

  21. 21 POP THIS! September 2, 2008 at 4:07 am

You are right. There is no reasoning with a fanatic. And they truly are fanatics. Only a fanatic would go to the lengths they go to–accusations of multiple IDs and multiple computers, even accusations of insulting other actors in other sites (???), claiming to know my/our computer ISP numbers, damning people to hell (while claiming to be good Buddhists) and making threats of a stalking and harassing nature (which is illegal on the internet, while criticizing actors and voicing opinions that they seem gay, is not illegal even if it is not nice). Yes, these poor sad humans are delusional fanatics.

Well then, well then. Until the next BYJ post, I’m signing off.

It is the best drama in Korea, and BYJ is the best actor!!

  23. 23 phuong September 25, 2008 at 11:50 pm

Hi Koreans,I am from Canada and i am professional woman , not a desperate house wife . I work in science field but i really enjoy all aspects of arts . Before Korean wave we knew nothing related to Korea except instant noodles , through Korean drama we started to learn more the beauty of your country ,from culture to history . We are so amazed that South Korea such a small country is able to produce such valuable drama .
Criticism is good , in constructive , polite and funny way , for people to see their blind spots so they can improve themself to be better person . Information had to be accurate ,solid grounded if not it will be psychotic , full of hallucination and delusion .
My children criticize me almost daily for everything ,most of the time i ignore but i remember one time i did pretend to fight back , do you know what did they reply to me And i hope that why you guy doing what you are doing right now , criticize your own actors and actresses for what ever they are doing regardless right or wrong . Anyway concept of right or wrong is depending on your own wiew , unfortunately your own wiew only can apply for you but might not suitable for others . Thank you .

I think its really time to say that BYG is one of the most popular actor in Asia because of all the criticism he gets!
It would be wonderful to see the Winter Sonata anminated version! Can’t wait! I love and adore Bae Yong Joon! Hope he comes to Australia.

  28. 28 jeoul08 October 7, 2008 at 11:32 pm

does he speak english or any other languages beside korean and japanese?…just wondering…………..

  29. 29 jeoul08 October 7, 2008 at 11:46 pm

i love byj….i bet byj taste like kimchi..lol….some people telling me that hes a gay and had some plastic surgery…
yeah…he look so feminine but i dont think he need surgery….asian people looks younger than their age and he face look so perfect to me..the skin and body…ahhhhhhh…….hot hot hot!!!!..i dont mind the hair but i want to see him wearing regular shirt without glasses, eating junkfoods and walking down the street like an ordinary guy……………………

  30. 30 Fair October 8, 2008 at 9:05 pm

Ever wonder why there they are always trying to critize BYG?
Because anything written about him sells like hotcakes! that’s how popular he is!

He is not middle age! have you seen Western actors? the older they get the more in demand they are! BYG is such a charismatic person and he dresses well!

More power to BYG and God bless!

  31. 31 Ebony November 1, 2008 at 4:47 am

I just recently watched this drama for the first time and I must say it was good, but I woudn’t start fangirling from it o_O. I really hate those glasses of his. He has nice eyes why not show them? I prefer Legend if I were to fangirl over Yonsama.

As for the animated version, why is it necessary? The drama was straightforward and didn’t leave any loopholes for people to wonder about? I understood that drama more than some of the J-dramas I watch that leave open-ended finales at the end o_O

I’m Sorry I Love You K-drama with So Ji Sub made more sense having the animated version because it showed what happened during the years that led up to her…. So that made more sense to me. Winter Sonata animated version does not!!!!
