Kim Hyun-joong of SS501 overdosed on sleeping pills and was rushed to the emergency room in an unconscious state last night. Revived and in stable condition, he was released this morning at 7:20 am on September 16th.
The singer had taken 6 sleeping pills in an effort to get some shut eye. He explained the situation on his cyworld, minihompy by first apologizing for not writing for a while and then announcing that he is preparing for a 2nd album. He added that he tried to catch up on his sleep and couldn’t so he took the drugs.
Luckily, Kim Hyun-joong is fine now and will resume his schedule as planned for the 17th and taping of “We’re married” on the 18th.
Wow..some of the commenters are clueless. Do you know how many sleeping pills there are in the market? They all have different doses, some are chemical and some are herbal.
I find that this guy is extremely stupid to have taken 6 at once if he had no intention of killing himself. What do you think these pills are? M&Ms? Freaking read the instructions properly.

I thought the news report was that he checked himself into the hospital complaining of stomach pains after taking the pills. I also thought he was taking an over the counter light dose of a sleeping pills from Japan. Apparently, the Japanese sleeping pills are not as powerful/strong as the Korean sleeping pills.
why do people have to be so suspicious? I have a cousin who overdosed on sleeping pills and she was released the next day as well/ So pessimistic. Just be glad you’re not mourning another death! As for Hyun Joong, THANK GOD he is ok! Stay healthy cuz ss501 wouldn’t be the same without you and what would your wife hwangbo do without you? lol.
Taking sleeping pills are dangerous in long run, he should find some other way to overcome his sleeping problem. He work too hard…need to slow down a bit if otherwise he’ll be worn out. His health should come first b4 anything…..anyway hope he is getting better and with hwangbo around he will have a speedy recovery!!!!
he’s starting to get so unhealthy this year…why don’t they just give him a break..insomnia is something you experience when you have serious problems..
of course he’s not that stupid to take his life through sleeping pills (a kind of death that lacks of suspense)…At least he can take some rest..

Yes, kids… 6 pills. Yours truly used to take sleeping pills due to a serious bout with insomnia. You start out taking 1 or 2, then your body builds up an intolerance, so you have to take more. In less than a year, I was up to four just to dose off. Sleeping pills are very dangerous as your body can only handle so many. Apparently, Kim Hyun Joong can only take five.

HJ ddnt want to take 6 pills. he took them so that he could sleep and get enuf rest so to practice for the asian music and university music blah blah . hes pretty hectic .

To be honest, i think that if he wants to knock out himself, taking 8 one shot would do a clean job, -.- not that im cursing him, but its causing tons of ppl to worry over nothing. I also have to agree that no hospital will release a patient so early if they suspect overdosage.
