Wondergirls do Perez Hilton

It’s more like the other way around.

The flaming pink-haired (now blond?) Perez Hilton is loving the Wondergirls’ new hit, “Nobody.” This is HUGE exposure for the 5 girl group to the U.S. market since over 1.5 million  people visit the most talked about celebrity site each month. The dancing gorilla (aka JYP) must really be dancing now.

Check out the post here.

wow this is HUGE exposure for WG.. And without a doubt JYP definitely paid massive amount for Perez to be blogging about a Kpop song! It’s just another addition to the k-wave phenomenon happening in the Western culture atm…

it’s hard for American to accept any music but their own. Because they think they are simply “the best” how ignorant.

  3. 3 jj September 23, 2008 at 9:50 pm

wait until he posts their live performances! lol!

regarding racism, of course everyone can be very racist. Even filipinos like us also have our racist side. unfortunately, it’s the americans who have been the worst of all racists.

my work experience in a BPO/Call Center Industry might be shorter than other Call Center veterans in India and Philippines, but I’ve experienced how bad their racism. chinese, indians, arabs can be very racist but americans are goddamn foulest. granted the fact that we filipinos aren’t that spontaneous english since that is not our vernacular language, they aren’t also given the right to trash those whose english is not their mother tongue. americans can commit grammatical errors and are bloodyhellishly computer dimwits. i don’t want to end up so arrogant out here, but this is how i observe with americans as far as computer literacy is concerned. those people make lots of excuses or drama just to make their wishes granted.

I can only imagine what it would be like if there was a site like Perezhilton.com for the Korean music industry. The majority of artists would get cut up so badly, even worse than they do on this site.

Btw, the type of language used in comments on this post is disgusting. What does Perez’s sexuality have to do with anything? Get educated!

he posted the vid of WG because he thinks the song is catchy and the mv is really interesting…i bet some s♥ne emailed perez snsd vids…

you’re wickedly right! Americans—if not chauvinists—-are bunch bearin’ a great deal of superiority complex.

i can still remember what’ve read in wikipedia regarding american stereotypes on east and southeast asian people, and i can’t remember how american women viewed chinese men as sexually corrupt and how americans viewed asians as simply bunch of immorals…well…as if americans weren’t losin’ their moral fiber.

But hey, it’s not like Koreans aren’t racist too – and from what I’ve seen when I visited the Philippines, they can be especially mean over there when they think they’re ‘above’ the people.

  9. 9 Gaby September 24, 2008 at 1:15 am

Many of those comments were bad but some of those trying to defend Koreans/Asians made it worse. Especially one comment where the person said “Koreans are racist because we are the best”. What kind of thinking is that? That person just made it worse.

  10. 10 Gaby September 24, 2008 at 1:17 am

@ferociousroxy: What about Koreans/Asians? They have a lot of stereotypes as well. If you say Americans think they are the best what about Koreans thinking they are the best. Also, an American can also be Korean (descent) so are you also talking about them?

  11. 11 Brina September 24, 2008 at 2:14 am

    Everybody is racist. God.

Anyway, I don’t understand the Wondergirls hype. But oh well.

  12. 12 lol September 24, 2008 at 3:59 am

That’s just funny! Perez Hilton is a fag with no taste so this is actually an insult to the wondergirls! Well I guess ppl with no taste would go ga-ga over wondergirls…..

  13. 13 franco September 24, 2008 at 6:25 am

not everyone is racist, and to be accepting of that is rather illogical. there is no excuse for racism whatsoever. i think everyone who is aware of racism and find it deplorable make an attempt everyday to avoid any part of such an ugly behavior.

  14. 14 franco September 24, 2008 at 6:30 am

okay. i think what a few people are trying to say here is that there are racists in every culture. that is true. but there are also people in every culture who fight against discrimination–be they american, asian, african, european, etc.

in my opinion, the wondergirls aren’t that great, but just the same it would be wonderful if they can penetrate the international market, just to show the western world that the eastern side is just as capable of beautiful things.

  15. 15 franco September 24, 2008 at 6:34 am

Tenderly, I agree. There are some deplorable slurs here that just perpetuate discrimination. Those people making those comments are not any different from any racist that promulgate inequality and narrow-minded thinking. Besides, Perez’s sexuality is irrelevant to him being jerk or to him being cool.

    WHOOT! GO WONDERGIRLS =]
PEACE FINGERS UP, INDEX FINGER DOWN TO ALL THE HATERS.

you mean perez hilton does wonder girls…

  18. 18 sc September 24, 2008 at 8:05 am

the nasty and racist comments were expected. honestly, america isn’t ready for an all-asian group. the rare asian stars that make it in this business are completely white washed.

even i think it would be weird to here Rain or the Wonder Girls on the radio. it’s just not time yet, no matter how much JYP wants it

  19. 19 Blazinist September 24, 2008 at 8:07 am

That’s what I hate about America, sad i live in this damn god forsaken country, lol but oh well, and for a black man I fight for discrimination, especially for Asians. Dang right baby woo. I listen to asian music everyday! Even my myspace is Asian themed! YES!Why? Cause its awesome and different from the sub-par American stuff. The rest of America just isn’t ready for a change..which is lame..but whatever right? :D And to bad this country don’t realize the great music that Asia has to offer. Bring some worthy Japanese and Korean singers to America for a big concert and I bet atleast one or two people will be in awe in the crowd. And I’ll say, I told you so!! :) I do wonder hm are half those people saying negative stuff white or black? :D heheheehehe

  20. 20 ----- September 24, 2008 at 8:31 am

he should have picked a group that actually represents koreans

  21. 21 Sierra September 24, 2008 at 10:35 am

I gave the song another listen… an unbiased listen… okay… it is arguably better than their previous attempts.

I agree with kriza09. The general public of America is probably more open to cute girls than pretty boys… sadly. So I retract my last comment. We should send them SNSD… hahaha! Their songs are more Korean… Or Jewelry? ^_^

This song is nice, but the lyrics kinda remind me of Christina Aguilera’s ‘Ain’t Nobody’… the tune isn’t very creative… albeit a change within the Korean music industry since other bands don’t usually do this kinda style… but the MV… it’s kinda been done… not exactly… but it feels like as if I’ve seen it before… hmmm…

  22. 22 sooo September 24, 2008 at 10:36 am

Koreans and Americans are just the same – rude and xenophobic. They deserve each other LOL

  23. 23 sooo September 24, 2008 at 10:39 am

Well they WG release Tell Me the Americans will get pissed as it was a Two of Hearts by Stacey Q rip-off. Plagiarism isn’t taken lightly in that country.

  24. 24 Big A September 24, 2008 at 10:48 am

Wonder Girls getting some exposure, nice.

On a side note, Perez Hilton sucks. I much prefer What Woulda Tyler Durden Do….much more witty with the same pics. (WWTDD.com) I hate how PH writes on his pictures with that pink lettering found in PS or MS Paint. It looks so dam juvenile….turned me off the instant I saw the site.

  25. 25 S September 24, 2008 at 12:41 pm

I am happy for them but not.
I’m glad they’re getting international fame, but I’m wondering if Wonder Girls will still be the same, because after alot of celebrities get REALLY famous, they just arent themselves.
They go downhill or either their music sucks.
    Well good job wonder girls.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

well, i am not saying that americans are always bad. of course, there are some americans who are having open mind.
koreans also suffer the same way like the americans, but americans are just really bloodyhellishly worse. in my career in a call center, we can just determine how our off-shore customer deal with us agents. japanese/chinese/koreans and those whose mother tongue is not english are hard to understand. some of these races can be bloody racist. chinese is so far the most racist and arrogant than japs and koreans (japs so far are nicest of them all and can comprehend easily!). they couldn’t even speak english so well, and they are equally victims of racism but they’ve got the temerity to bash us filipinos, declarin’ “can you transfer me to someone from the united states (as if american agents can understand them)”. Even some indians and arabs do the same thing. However, compared to americans, some non-americans are not as a bit slow-witted than the former.

i am not here to bash any race here. i also recognize how filipinos can be racist too, but in my line of work, i haven’t experienced racism from my fellow filipinos outside the philippines. they are even more delighted when they are talking to filipinos. i also haven’t experienced harsh treatment from european countries as well.

  27. 27 ferociousroxy September 24, 2008 at 1:02 pm

another thing, simply because it’s western-made, doesn’t necesarily mean that american thang is the greatest of all. don’t you watch mtv? american pop is laced with loads of decadence and sex—-not only in their music but some of their movies and tv shows, featuring steamy bed scenes that ain’t suitable for all viewers. some of them (or almost all of them)are overrated.

  28. 28 riki September 24, 2008 at 10:24 pm

i wonder how he came across this video?
anyways i love the video and the song. why hasnt popseoul been all over this like they were on DBSK. as soon as mirotic came out they had the video posted here but nothing from wonder girls which came out on monday. HATERS. loved DBSK’s video especially the dancing but wonder girls’ nobody’s video is just better. there is a storyline and it pays homage to the beginning of rnb/soul music which has inspired JYP and made him into “the asian soul”.
say what you will but the man is a genius and except for some questionable stage costumes the man can do no wrong.

    f*ck all those racists

  31. 31 UHMJUNGHWA4EVER September 26, 2008 at 4:10 am

@ Dylan P or whatever your name is – you need to fall your stank ass back and appreciate that your Wonder Girls is getting exposure. Or better yet, you left your buttplug in my closet.

ok, so I know I must be living in a bubble if I ask who the hell peez hilton is but “who the hell is perez hilton?”

  33. 33 Marissa June 26, 2009 at 2:16 am

being a person who enjoys many types of music purely from the fact that they are all different and have their own goods and bads, i think its wonderful that perez posted this on his website, but i can understand how many people who arent usually exposed to asian music [kpop, jpop, etc] would think that the style is a little strange. now matter how much the koreans make their music similar to american music, americans still seem racist to them just because they’re “asians copycats” >.< truthfully, i was a bit like this at first too; but then i got to learn more about the culture and music and now i love it :)

  34. 34 iWin uLose July 8, 2009 at 11:16 pm

Ok not everyone is racist, but stereotypical yes. Im a asian american and all i have are blacks friends cause i live in the country side of Tx. And me and my friends go back and forth with each other with stereotypical jokes, its funny and it doesnt hurt anyone. i lived in 15 states in the US, and i can tell you that i have only met one TRULY racist person, and he was old about in his 70’s. the only TRULY racist people in the US are the ones that lived back in the days. the new generation of americans are far from racist imo, that is why our generation will have the most interracial families that have ever seen the earth in the future. but even then stereotypes will be here, but racism will most likely die. there is a reason the US is called the melting pot… alot of people use the word racist in such a easy way, racism is extreme hate for another race or group. just because they made some jokes or said mean things to you doesnt mean they are racist. i hate how people here on this blog throw that word around so much, its a heavy word.

  35. 35 Narsha July 24, 2009 at 1:13 am

i wonder how much JYP paid for tht….
    i am just curious…… i mean ,i like them!!
