Song Seung-heon says no to Japan

So Song Seung-heon said no to a 20 million USD, 4 year contract with a Japanese management company- who really cares as long as we get another chance to put up a different shirtless picture of the smoking hot actor.

The 32 year old rejected the money so he could star in the 47th anniversary project for MBC, “East of Eden.” Good choice.

I don’t know how much he could earn from East of Eden, as opposed to the Japanese deal, but it’s his choice. Maybe he rejected the Japanese offer for a patriotic reason, who knows? Anyway, I’m sure he has enough money already to live a comfortable life.

  6. 7 Empress80 September 24, 2008 at 3:09 am

dang, me must be hella rich to just pass up $20 mil. but like you said who cares, it’s just another reason to post a shirtless pic. thanks pop seoul!

  7. 8 Eh? September 24, 2008 at 3:53 am

    How is he an idiot?

Who knows.. maybe 20 million isn’t even much to him and who knows… maybe his pockets has more than 20 million anyways XD

But it’s his choice, so why do you guys care. It’s not effecting you guys.

I’m sure he makes good money anyways.

WOW! 20 million usd?! What the hell is wrong with him?!

  9. 10 sovereign September 24, 2008 at 4:47 am

No, it affects all the people who want to watch “East of Eden”. Hell, screw the japanese, I’d rather turn down the money if I was him and choose what I would want.

  10. 11 sisilya September 24, 2008 at 5:10 am

  15. 16 dwilliams September 24, 2008 at 7:58 am

WOW! 20 million usd?! What the hell is wrong with him?!

What’s wrong with him, Uh you do realize EAST Of EDEN is kicking azz right? Why would he sign with another management company when he already has one. If he signed with the company his company would sue him. Now is 20 mill USD worth getting sued for. Oh wait 10mil usd as they will be taking out taxes.

  16. 17 Big A September 24, 2008 at 8:03 am

DAYAM!!! 20 MIL USD?! That takes some serious thought to walk away from that. I wonder how long the contract was for. From what Ive read about other actors getting paid for product endorsements and tv series roles, that seems like SO MUCH MORE than he would’ve gotten otherwise. Also, he is from the batch of older, more senior actors who most likely got paid less than what they get paid now…which isn’t much (relatively speaking).

But he prob has enough to live comfortably on (hopefully he set some aside for retirement) and this is prob the more comfortable choice for him.

I will remember this choice of his whenever I think of him tho. Dam.

  17. 18 nessa September 24, 2008 at 8:29 am

although 20 mil is a huge chunk of change, i think it’s safe to say he’ll have plenty more opportunities.

  18. 19 tricky September 24, 2008 at 8:39 am

Song Seung-heon is still making crazy money with East of Eden. He will be paid 3-3.5 million US dollars from salary alone, and that doesn’t include royalties and future endorsement deals when East of Eden is shown in the rest of Asia.

Song Seung-heon’s star had faded greatly since the military scandal. East of Eden has reasserted his star, and you bet that he’ll be getting lucrative deals soon after the show finishes.

omg he’s getting sexier as he’s getting older!!!!

  20. 21 NYCgrl September 24, 2008 at 9:02 am

He is becoming the matthew mcconaughey of Korea.

  21. 22 romele September 24, 2008 at 10:52 am

    he’s way sexier than matt.

  22. 23 Jane. September 24, 2008 at 12:00 pm

How will he “regret it”? East of Eden is number 1 right now, and its only on its 9th or 10t episode? He’ll be getting better deals after it finishes, Cfs and other things.

  23. 24 Nanny@maid September 24, 2008 at 1:29 pm

~SSH stays with what he has already started…
Who knows that after East of eden, he will get other offers that will give him more than 20 million…
    Good choice..SSH..

  24. 25 s123 September 24, 2008 at 4:54 pm

maybe he got more than USD 20M in East of Eden, though not in lump sum…

  25. 26 nobody September 24, 2008 at 9:02 pm

ssh chose east of eden not because of any reason aside from the fact that he got to have pulled his own money in order to have this project to continue since his BIG pride will get hurt if his comeback won’t be big as he hope it to be.
as a result of him being producer, he changed each and every person that was previously set to do the film… like the director, writers, staff and even the actors. some bailed out since they sensed that SOMEONE is playing god.

  26. 27 stra September 25, 2008 at 3:30 am

its good that SSH chose EOE. I m enjoying each & every minute of this drama.

  27. 28 otto September 25, 2008 at 12:26 pm

PS,your sense of humour is getting better ^^

regarding the turning down of the deal, maybe he wants to stick to korea?
but its good that he does’nt cared much about the money.
