With the upcoming return of many pop acts, comparisons are inevitable.
This time around, the battle is between boys men. The return of DBSK after 1.7 years in Japan has caused excitement among fans with their interestingly named title song, “Mirotic”.
Already, within 3 days of its release, “Mirotic” has climbed up to #1 on the KTF Dosirak’s most wanted with over 300,000 CDs preordered. In order to keep up with the demand, the record co had to push back the release date by two days. With so much attention and hype these boys are receiving, Big Bang has their work cut out for them when they return in November.
As of now, the first real battle between the idol groups will transpire on the SBS program “Family Outing”, which will air on October 12 & 19, 2008, where Daesung of Big Bang is part of the cast and Yunho and Junsu of DBSK will appear as guests. And most likely, the boys of DBSK and Big Bang will duke it out for cast member Lee Hyori, who has doted on Daesung all throughout the show’s airing.
Until then, keep your paper and pens out and track these two groups in the battle of the year.
As of now, DBSK is ahead by a point for breaking the highest presale order since the release of Seo Taiji’s 8th album in 2004.

Oh please. Why compare both bands? BOTH bands are talented. Both of them can sing and dance! What is wrong with you people saying that one band is better than another?
So a person sings better than another person makes the less better person untalented? Talent means that you are good in something, means that not everyone have that talent and both of the bands are talented.
Seriously, stop hating -_-. I love DBSK and Big Bang [Though I'm more of a fan of DBSK.] but I love Big Bang’s music too. Because they both have different genre.

i can’t believe there is even a competition about this. it’s like comparing U2 and Taking Back Sunday. Taking Back Sunday is cool to listen to but U2 just f*ing rocks the entire world. DBSK will most certainly win….and if they don’t, I have lost all faith in the world

The reason is because i only love Haru2 n Lies . And it is a very good songs, but after that all songs pretty much the same.
DSBK is not overated. Those who said that really need to go for medical check up or something..maybe they should listen more to DBSK before commenting about them.. It is ridiculous,overated!!!
By d way, DBSK not only have fans in Korea or in Asia but they also have fan base back at ISrael..So basically they r talented enough to gain such popularity. So amazing.
I dun really think big bang can sing like DBSK..In term of singing,believe me DBSK is the winner. Why ? It simple does anyone from Big Bang can sing in high pitch like Jaejoong or Changmin..Mmmm think about it..

Big Bang is still young. and that’s even an honor to be in competition with DBSK who are already oldies.. and already gained a lot of experiences. Plus, they have different effin’ genres! pathetic..
I’m a diehard Big Bang fan but I think DBSK will win with Mirotic…that song is good…and I’m not sure I like the direction that BB is taking with their music though I do want them to grow.
But in light of reading other comments, people are right – two diff. genres and shouldn’t be compared all that much. worry about Battle or SHINee or WG
i don’t know why people are saying that their success is due to fans and not music. they have 800,000+ fans because of the music. they don’t do a lot of variety shows or anything. so without the music they have nothing. they’re not like superjunior. superjunior have fans because of their personality. they’re always doing something. big bang’s music is good but so is dbsk’s. but i feel like dbsk has more stage presence. they do a larger variety of songs and their singing/ dancing is amazing.
I think both groups are winning in their own way.
and it is quite obvious that DBSK has the upper hand in winning, considering the fact that they’ve been away from korea and the cassis for such a long time.
and don’t get me wrong, i’m a diehard BB fan. But i started out as a diehard DBSK fan and really, i still am. I just don’t think that it’s fair to say DBSK is better than BB because both groups are unique in their own ways! DBSK is wonderful at singing and dancing but so are BIG BANG! and their music is equally good in their [own ways]! So i think everyone needs to just calm down and enjoy their music and be happy people because there really is no point in this little feud.

and even if dbsk wins this time… it just means that more people like them for whatever reason there is..

at the end of the day… we listen to our idols songs…to make us feel good…big bang’s songs make me feel happy listening to them…dbsk is not to my taste so I dont…dont mean I have to pick out their faults and lay it out for you guys to see…neither do you have to pick out faults in big bang to lay it out for us to see….

I feel disgusted really by the people who criticize so that their band stands out the best….ermmm hello its not going to change and do anything… at the end of the day you should be worrying whether your idol groups are going to last long enough to sing and produce great songs for you.
Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to music. I think both Big Bang and DBSk are talented. I came from an era when hip hop and R&B was really good back in the day…. For a while now, there’s been a lot of mainstream crap in America … so it’s nice to tune into stuff overseas that’s refreshing like big bang/epik high.
But what I like about DBSk is that….they totally got me hyped up about music again….. I loved DBSk the most while they were in japan because they tried so many different styles of music and went out of their comfort zone to prove themselves vocally. Their appeal is that they are an acapella group and they harmonize just beautifully.
Fans do play a big role in the popularity but since everyone has different musical preferences, different genres and wider ranges of music will appeal to more people. Listening to Dbsk’s Korean and Japanese albums really display that. I think Big Bang is very vocally talented and have catchy music but I really think it’s strange to compare them to DBSK…….. Only time and experience will tell whether they will receive the international recognition and love that DBSK has acquired.
