Korean music industry wants blood

Is blood what it takes to be a star these days?

New music act, Hero has signed sealed and delivered their contract in blood with their management company. The faceless member revealed in the short UCC clip that he has always wanted to be a singer. So pricking his finger to smear his own blood on paper would be considered something trivial to the bigger and better things that await him.

However, the Korean netizens are shocked and outraged that the music industry has resorted to medieval methods of binding an agreement. And the media agrees that the blood pact is totally unprofessional.

In response, Hero’s management released the statement the the 3 members of Hero were gungho about adding that extra flavoring to the signed agreement.
Watch the blood pact here.

The new group, Hero has released their new song, “Only a day” (하루만) but not their faces.
Check out their new video here:

there was a korean man who tried to sue another korean man for breach of contract on a contract that was signed in blood.
The judge threw out the case.

  7. 8 koko October 11, 2008 at 2:49 am

i wish that method was only used for indigestion and smeared on a piece of kleenix, and not for some mafia-like contract.

seriously, as if your signature and your own stamp isn’t enough?

I think this was a nasty way of getting a jump start boost in popularity and attention…

There is no legal difference between signing a contract in ink (or with a stamp, as they do in Korea) or in blood. It was absolutely unnecessary.

i think he’s trying to show his extreme dedication, but to be honest, i feel as though it’s a bit too extreme. a little barbaric and unnecessary. but a .. sweet symbolism.

I love it. That’s hilarious and ironic because it’s so accurate. At least they’re keeping it real now. Instead of hiding the fact that they have you down to your blood in those contracts anyway. I think it shows more authentic communication than before.

But it also goes to show that young bands still believe in trying to get that brass ring. They think that the major record labels have some magic potion or secret to launching their careers. It’s “BS” because all the majors have is money. Sure…that’s the fast way to reach a broad audience but it’s the lazy way out. It’s a fireball ride into the sky and a faster meteor ride burning back to the ground.

How about trying a little hard work? It can all be achieved if you spend the time and do the work. You don’t need big bucks. You need great songs and to be committed to doing what you love (making music) for your lifes work. Doing the ground work will build a better solid base for your tower of success to stand on.

Sure it gets so big that you may need a team at some point but don’t sign away your future (ie: 3 option deal and high% of publishing…your retirement). Those big labels will tie up your whole life and never let you go.

All I’m saying is be unique and creative. Work hard to share it with the world. And find success in the “now”, not the “when”. Because the “brass ring” tarnishes fast.

I truly wish you lots of luck and success too.

    weeeeee!

just like Naruto when he made an agreement letter for calling a big frog with Jiraiya sensei. He also used his blood to sign the letter, haha…

  23. 25 yayaya October 11, 2008 at 1:49 pm

Oh, blood pact is sacred IMO. Shame they use this for a public stunt.

  24. 26 jagadgurusriwirdi October 11, 2008 at 2:14 pm

Hmm.. seems like this is their method of gaining attention.
It’d better not influence any other people that are planning to make a debut :[
Noooooo why have they copied another celebs name? That name belongs to JaeJoong :(
Anyway I hope they are successful, but seriously please change the name otherwise they’ll have to deal with Cassiopeia- AND ME! LOL

  32. 36 sovereign October 12, 2008 at 8:19 am

Wow. I agree with many people here, if that’s the signers choice to be “gungho” about it and go as far as blood signing, so be it, but if that’s not the case, this is simply ridiculous.

  33. 37 tia.lovee October 12, 2008 at 3:19 pm

    EW.
this isnt extra flavouring. more like, extra disturbing.
