Is this what K-pop has come down to?

And we thought Super Junior was a circus!

I just really need to know if this is what Kpop had resorted to just to make a measly buck! The over-crowded group Sweety, performed at M. Net’s “Super Concert” yesterday, a new track conveniently called “Short Song” (키작은 노래) with a sample of Black Eyed Peas’ hit, “Where is the love.”

I just would like to know if people are really buying into this! Especially with all the members being between the child labor ages of 7 and 14, which includes a token boy.  Yes, I understand they are adorable (especially the violinist!), but do people actually say, “Oh my goodness! The new Sweety album is coming out today–I HAVE to get it!”

Anyway, check out Sweety’s performance with the token boy rapping.

Whether its horrible singing, bad dancing, terrible “rapping”, or laughable groups, kpop certainly corners the market in this type of entertainment. You would think the public would demand better, but they don’t, ha!

    This is so weird…

  3. 3 Kiki October 17, 2008 at 7:51 am

  6. 6 angelfish09 October 17, 2008 at 8:07 am

    Sweet Lord…. Poor kids.
I understand that becoming a singer and being famous is their dream, but there’s an age limit to whether they are old enough to handle the pressure. This is really bugging me even though they look adorable.

    sigh ._.”
i come home from a day of kpop spazzing, and this is what i find?

  8. 8 bored girl October 17, 2008 at 8:34 am

hmm i think this is kinda old. i saw their mv during summer. anywho…

i say they should just join a micky mouse club or something and just be cute

  9. 9 himika October 17, 2008 at 8:38 am

cannot you hear the huge crows of screaming fans… or are they fake?

    XDDD

  10. 10 maaya October 17, 2008 at 8:45 am

Their music is for the younger generation. Have some people never heard songs sung by other kids growing up? I have. Children have always been in the music industry and on tv as well.

    People here are overreacting.

  11. 11 Beckbeck October 17, 2008 at 9:02 am

How sad you have to rip off allkpop.com’s article. They wrote about thing a long time ago. Too slow once again!

  12. 12 Jess October 17, 2008 at 9:45 am

that is……….disgusting and a little creepy
    GO BACK TO BEING CHILDREN

  13. 13 Luc October 17, 2008 at 10:01 am

I’d have Super Junior perform in front of me any day over these enslaved children.

  14. 14 ----- October 17, 2008 at 10:02 am

…..i think this is the next “ppo ppo ppo.” if u weren’t born in korea, u probably won’t know what “ppo ppo ppo” is…..it’s like a korean barney.

  15. 15 sad ~.* October 17, 2008 at 10:11 am

lol the little girl playing the violin looked like she could be song hye-gyo when she was little..hhehehe…

  16. 16 isanghe1 October 17, 2008 at 11:28 am

NO WAY the boy has his ears pierced!!! he’s what, 7? 8? and has earrings already?! what’s he gonna do later on?!

and although they are very cute and like kidz bop, they should be in school!! plus, once their voices change when they get older…

and i dont think theyll be popular among the older kpop listeners, mayb the younger generation… but the older ones will definetly still know about them… i can already see heechul and eunhyuk imitating them XP

  17. 17 lev October 17, 2008 at 11:33 am

This is just straight up ridiculous.

  18. 18 ferard October 17, 2008 at 12:50 pm

    suju is not circus…. retarded
snsd yeah especially when they sing live sunny… sound like duck

  19. 19 Forever October 17, 2008 at 1:11 pm

    go back to school…
    oh dear.

i think i’ll stick to the ‘circus’. 8D

    let’s pretend i never saw this…

  20. 20 Jane. October 17, 2008 at 2:11 pm

Seriously, just go back to school and study. This is getting ridiculous. The year of age for debuting is getting younger and younger each year. Taemin is young enough without these kids, and even his age is stretching it. As long as they don’t go on variety shows and whatnot. They remind me of kids bop or whatever.

  21. 21 Ai October 17, 2008 at 2:35 pm

WHY THE HECK DID PEOPLE THINK THEY DIDN’T GO TO SCHOOL??

For God’s sake just because they’re artist doesn’t mean theyr didn’t go to school. Does this mean Wonder Girls, Shinee etc etc doesn’t go to school as well? Geez

  22. 22 shameera410 October 17, 2008 at 2:39 pm

Stop being mean…what’s wrong with kids singing??
    Well…if I joined this group I wouldn’t be the oldest…ok maybe the 2nd oldest..13 years?

  23. 23 Rina October 17, 2008 at 3:01 pm

Oh my goodness… We had 13 year olds frequenting and posting this site…

That explains a lot of the comments on the other articles.

  24. 24 Ann*e October 17, 2008 at 3:06 pm

i’m sorry but this is so
dumb. send these kids back to
school. if they start out like this
already, how will they be later on??

    they’re adorable though.
    most of them have talent…

    (:

  25. 25 Damn... October 17, 2008 at 5:58 pm

If they actually make it far, it’s going to be a damn shame. Fueled by dollars from pedophiles and little kids. Which entertainment company do they belong to anyways? Exploiting little girls like that, what a damn shame.

  26. 26 Not Really October 17, 2008 at 10:45 pm

How cute?! But… no, I’m not camping out to buy their next album.

  27. 27 carribeane October 17, 2008 at 11:08 pm

aw so sad to make innocent children do this! in singapore, we have these chinese variety shows where a segment is of young kids (ard 5years old or less i think – worse than this!) dress up with makeup & garish show costumes prance around the stage and sing. Always thought it was so wrong, and here is a band like that! what a depraved generation we’re in, God help us.

  28. 28 sam October 17, 2008 at 11:48 pm

singapore variety shows is a competition whereby it will ends in 2-3months…but these kids here are different, they are being promote as artistes..

if they start training at this young age, i think it’s fine.. because they can still go to school and train after class….and they are not known to the public/viewers yet but once they are on the stage, it’s a different matter…. there are alot more stress as compared..

  29. 29 riki October 18, 2008 at 5:49 am

i like them. they are so cuuuuute. my suggestion is that they get rid of the two youngest members, they dont fit with everyone else and they dont bring anything to the group. in fact they cant keep up with the dancing and they get lost behind the taller kids.
i love the boy so adorable. too bad they are lip syncing.
hopefully they will go through a revamp like SNSD. good luck kids, i can’t until the album comes out. reminds me of folder (japanese kid bad with kids from 9-12 that had Daichi Miura as lead singer, and look at him now!).

  30. 30 Kawaiicherry October 18, 2008 at 11:35 am

okay this is definitely targeting the younger kids, like 10 and below.
    but seriously. no.
    I find this creepy.

  31. 31 Kang Heejin October 18, 2008 at 3:01 pm

    uh … wtf
gosh, and i thought shinee was too damn young. nasty
this is plain stupid, you do not need elemtary school kids trying to perform dance moves that are not even meant for grown-ups.

  32. 32 tracy October 18, 2008 at 8:19 pm

oh gosh. they need to go to school,
why are they wasting their education? O:
& there are so many people cheering for them O.O

  33. 33 usa October 19, 2008 at 9:01 am

well if they target the childern audiance then theres no problem, i mean, when i was a kid there were also kids from 7-10 singing childlike song and i loved, some lasted for 2 year some for 5 years some lasted til they were 20 or so but their music changed with the time, i think some of thoses kids have talent but i do agree there are so many in this group, it should have been 3 or 4, and take out the smallest one.
We shouldnt be critic over this as they dont aim at us as their public, you should ask a 6 year old kid if he/she like it, we just have to think they are cute and thats all.
its better to have lil kids listening to sweety than to songs like “i wanna sex you up…”

  34. 34 sandy,USA October 19, 2008 at 9:18 am

okay that was cute! but then again only a while.

  35. 35 ww October 19, 2008 at 9:22 am

They’re under Basic Entertaintment. Does anyone know what other artists are under that label?

  36. 36 Kwon Jang Mi October 19, 2008 at 9:41 am

i guess korean music industry is going a little too far…
    cute though.

  37. 37 gloria October 19, 2008 at 10:32 am

…. no this is going WAY TOO FAR! all i have to say is what the fawk, and that they should go back to school

  38. 38 Wain October 20, 2008 at 7:59 pm

again a money making performance, they did this with S club Juniors and they didn’t last long. But I’m sure they still made money!

  39. 39 YuMi October 22, 2008 at 11:54 pm

    lol its kinda cute. :]]
its okay to make songs for little children, so that they wont listen to…well, more mature music i guess?

  40. 40 rainonme October 24, 2008 at 3:14 pm

its cute but for some strange reason i feel pissed off…..

  41. 41 Panda November 25, 2008 at 12:13 am

    OMO !!! Don’t they nid 2 concentrate other stuff like….well, i dun noe…..studies ?!?! They’re too young !!! I dun mean to b rude or aniting but i dun tink they’ll last long….

  42. 42 AntiBoA November 25, 2008 at 12:23 am

They f*cking suck so much, and they are not cute, yes even the little ones. Ew.

The older girls may be able to make it in a few years if they ever learn to sing properly, but the little ones are a waste of money.

This should be illegal, but then again it is Asia.

  43. 43 pappermint December 27, 2008 at 12:30 am

who said that they are not cute? i like them…
well…it’s true that they supposed to be in school right now…but they have choose their way…
