Well, another movie is being remade by Hollywood.
The 2004 flick, “A Moment to Remember” (‘내 머리 속의 지우개’), starring Jung Woo-sung and Son Ye-jin, has been picked up by the new CBS Films to be recycled for American audiences.
Originally based on the Japanese drama, “Pure Soul” (2001), the story involves the process of painful discovery within a relationship and learning to live with Alzheimer’s Disease. The screenplay of the remake will be penned by Susannah Grant (“Erin Brockovich”).
Based on the track record of Korean films being remade (i.e. straight to video of remake, ” My Sassy Girl”), it will be interesting to see if the story will stick with international movie-goers.

Man that movie was damn depressing. I really dislike American remakes… They don’t necessarily make bad remakes but.. It still kinda ruins it for me =/
great another korean remake in america = bad.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. and I’m sure the american version will never beat the korean.
i love a moment to remember! ONE OF THE BEST I’VE SEEN
but, i honestly think that the original asian films aren’t being credited enough after being remade by the westerners.
agree with lala! it annoys me how barely any credit is given to the originals! damn westerners!

What the hell is up with all this American bashing, huh? “damn westerners,”…wtf? nice way to promote blind ignorance and unjustified hatred and bashing of a culture and ppl(american) you either no little to nothing about or are so fixed in hating b/c your a f*cking asianophile who idolizes eastern cultures while totally disregarding your own. I agree that most remakes, (usually) regardless of the country remaking the film, don’t do the originals justice.
But, it’s not like America is the only country who remakes films badly. And it’s not Korea never re-makes something original and re-packages it as its own: like the Korean music industry isn’t notorious for lifting beats/melodies, etc… from American artists and promoting them as their own, original songs…you definitely never see them crediting the original composer/songwriter/artist,etc…
Every country/culture, etc… has its flaws, but as a Korean-American I find it ironic how ppl from our culture can easily overlook our own flaws while pointing and snarking about similar ones in other cultures.
yea, lala and chuey are damn right.
it’s so annoying. there are a lot of remakes of asian movies – especially hong kong movies – done in that other side of the world, particularly in the usa, that barely get enough credits.
it’s just unfair in my opinion.
ftr, if you were talking about me, ji-hyeon, i wasnt bashing the westerners or whatever you might think. that was just an honest opinion.
and you seriously need to take some chill pills.
and you seriously need to take some chill pills.
HAHA lmao.
but seriously, both sides are right, alright? sheesh, you dont have to make a big deal our of this, do you?
*out
Americans are good only with futuristic/investigative/courtroom movies but on love stories they sucks because their culture about love is sex all and end all. Few Americans I can say stay together for love of their family and being true to their marriage vows.
nooooo!! stop it you stupid americans!!!
i didn’t know that the korean version was taken from a jdorama… thought it was original… wish i could watch the jdorama…
nway, stories with fatal diseases are plenty in the market.. n it’s not that difficult to create one… the Americans shld create a new one instead of remaking other movies… if they still wanted to, it’s better if they try remake the ‘Lorenzo’s Oil’…
ON NOEZ!!!!!!!! x(
Me don’t likey this newsie.
Hollywood would bastardize this really good film.
x_x
Well…we also have to remember that US already remade quite a few Korean movies. 2 of them starred Jeon Ji Hyun of My Sassy Girl. One of course was the straight 2 video Sassy Girl and the other one is Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves and originally was Il Mare. I hope this comes out decent enough and enjoyable enough to see.
I can predict how badly this film is going to turn out ….
Hell no.
I loved that movie.
This was one of the first Korean movies I watched. What impressed me most were the production values and the beautiful Son Ye Jin and the other guy wasn’t bad either.
The story starts out well but the ending is laughable. The movie can’t decide whether it wants a happy or sad ending.
This movie may translate more easily since the setting and characters at least to me don’t seem as uniquely Korean like My Sassy Girl.
My Sassy Girl well that was just so unique and fresh that you probably could never hit gold like that twice.
vid the ending isn’t “laughable” its lyrical…
can’t wait so see this remake, i just hope they cast the right actors for this one coz woo-sung and ye-jin pulls this one nicely. such perfect chemistry, both are excellent actors. needless to say ye-jin’s acting skills is superb, now who can match that amongst hollywood stars..
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
THATS NOT GOOD IDEA!!
