SBS bans Rain’s lumps and rumps

Rain_081026 (4)

One of the 3 largest broadcasters in Korea, SBS, has announced that Rain’s fresh track, “You” will be banned from television.

SBS deemed the song as inappropriate due to the suggestive lyrics:

I am stuck in your lumps
hide your rump, because of you I need to take a dump
Wet my body so I can feel it whenever
Your sexy lips are touching me all over

Ok. If you have read this far, you are probably thinking, “WTH”? “because of you I need to take a dump.” Well, that’s not Rain’s line, it’s ours. We just had to add it in because it rhymed with “lump” and “rump.”

Hee hee. Here is the real translation:

I am stuck in your lumps
hide your rump, because of you, I am going crazy
Wet my body so I can feel it whenever
Your sexy lips are touching me all over

The original:
“너의 그 볼륨에 내가 꽂혀 있어” “엉덩이를 감춰 너 때문에 정말 내가 미쳐” “내 몸을 적셔 언제나 내가 느껴지게” “섹시한 네 입술이 날 만지고 있어”

Well, we know that SBS has a track record of not making smart moves. So by banning Rain’s song from television will only create more hype for Rain and his new album. Duh.

Listen to “You”

@ BB Fighting! You are AWESOME! Where can you find a post that successfully expresses ones opinion without insulting and being vulgar? It’s your post man, I am lovin’ it.

It seriously p*sses me off that the West gets to decide what’s vulgar or not. a hundred years ago when Britian colonized Africa they called local Africans ‘barbaric’ and ‘backward’ and ‘vulgar’ for walking around without clothes – today? taking a nude family portrait is called ‘art’ in Europe. WTF?

If you guys like Rain’s Lyrics than that clearly points out how un-Asian you’ll are. For the rest of us, who consider modesty a form of beautification and classiness thoroughly agree with his song being banned. So I think it’s disrespectful and narrow-minded to call another country’s culture and [high] standards ‘un-liberal’ and ‘backward’. Little do you know that the ones being rude and backward are, in fance, yourselves – for not RESPECTING other NATIONS.

About the Lyrics: Rain obviously did not think it up, and its about time he gets a teacher to tell him whats he singin!! Becuase he does not get it!

Whoever wrote the Lyrics for Rain (I’m not sure whether he’s literate at all) was just shooting blanks. or not getting any. The more you sing/talk/think about sex: The less you’re actually doing it. (Indian saying)

True songs have beautiful lyrics; not horny bullsh*t.

    Aja Aja SBS!

Rightly or wrongly, I think he’s trying to assert something about his ability (or attempts) to step out of JYP’s shadows.

  4. 4 Aaliyah8 October 28, 2008 at 1:32 am

Bummer… that song is so HAWT! But anyways… it’s only SBS, hope the rest don’t follow suit ;-)

Whoever said that conservatism leads to racism and discrimination forgets that conservative values was what lead the charge of the emancipation of American slaves, and Conservative values was what drove Americans to fight the Nazis.

As an ex-liberal, I know how deceptive the liberal facade is. In the twentieth century alone, it has been extreme liberalism that has led to the most oppressive and murderous regimes. Think Stalin and Mao tsedong.

Of course, all conservatism and liberalism are not created equal. But don’t blindly pigeonhole american conservatism without studying its history. Liberalism today also is a total slap in the face to what it was originally intended to be a hundred years ago. Now Liberalism has become mostly emotionalism with no logic, and conservatism is being discriminated against by fallacious misconceptions.

Call it what you want, but Rain’s lyrics are dumb and crass.

If you want to break out of your shell and be original, work a little harder than just throwing in a bunch of sexual terms.

Rain is like a social retard trying to get attention by mooning people in his neighborhood.

WOW i think we see the influence of the WEST! hmmmmmmmm rain Oppa go back to your pure romantic roots and forget the raunch!

  8. 9 Korean Ajusshi October 28, 2008 at 5:36 am

I’d expect maybe KBS to ban this song because it’s a semi-public TV station in Korea, but not SBS which is private and has the reputation of being the racist of the three South Korean commercial TV networks!

  9. 11 sc October 28, 2008 at 6:48 am

it’s not even a good song.
it sounds so amateur!!!!!! why rain why

    Gals, relax!!!!

I’m not sure how to have my own opinion about this because I really truly think it’s not that much to actually bring moral issue.

It’s just 4 verses, which if you take a closer attention, it is very very very acceptable, and it is still very normal. I don’t think kids/teens would consider it as far as we think they would, they are our best concern, aren’t they?

About the artist himself, I don’t think he’s doing anything wrong.
I don’t find the lyrics gross, I think it’s rather glamorized and sexy, I have to say for certain reason I like it. Still remember Ricky Martin’s “Living La Vida Loca” ? exactly. The lyrics of the song, kind of glamorized and sexy, love it. The MV was super cool as well

Personally, I would like to see Rain having short of sexy MV and song. He was like always doing it with his dance steps. Forget it Rain! It’s time for adults, the majority of your fans aren’t teenagers. The ending part of Rainism MV was a step closer, but too short, haha… it was still very sexy of him.

  15. 17 soju October 29, 2008 at 4:03 am

    soju’s back from korea!

went to the lotte family concert on october 18 in seoul. what to say? fly to the sky and big bang ROCKED. alex was good, also. but dRain? eh. forget it. that concert didn’t change my mind about him. big bang should have closed that ooncert. at least it would have ended on a good note.

the sound and video for the concert weren’t all that, though.

as for these lyrics? gay overtones. rump? he’s looking at rumps? wants to jump, hump and pump a rump? wet my body? with what? bodily fluids? haha. yeah. whatever.

  16. 18 yatel October 29, 2008 at 6:14 am

    @ soju

    Yeah, whatever!

  17. 19 soju October 29, 2008 at 6:46 am

    whatever what? the gay overtones?

  18. 20 judy October 29, 2008 at 8:26 am

haha. yeah, i was like, “take a dump?” i thought perhaps it was a cultural thing that i didn’t understand. hahaha.

hahahaha…. funny that i heard some other people talked the opposite. the cheering when he performed rainism was crazy. people said it could bring down the whole stage. some had to cover their ears, it didnt happen when other artists performed.
hmmm… it’s you tried to twist the reality or the reality twisted you, hahaha… funny

you can’t see what you dont want to see right?

  21. 23 soju October 29, 2008 at 9:42 am

    ^doha

you must have heard that from other clouds. sure, dRain got audience reaction. i didn’t say he didn’t. in my opinion, tho, big bang totally eclipsed him in their performances. there’s just no comparison.

btw … if your “other people” had to cover their ears, then they are lightweight, non-concert-goers. in which case … what would they know about a full-blown, “bring down the whole stage” (whatever that’s supposed to mean) performance? absolutely nothing. the decibel levels from the audience weren’t off the charts that night. i left the stadium with my full hearing intact. no fuzziness. no nothing.

now the people in front of me might have left with ringing in their ears from all the screaming we were doing during big bang!

same thing back at you. you can’t see what you don’t want to see. right?

  22. 24 shinta October 29, 2008 at 9:54 am

^ Ha! Come on soju.. we’ve had enough of your hate! Time to give Rain some props! Was he sexy?! did you drool?! Did you take a picture of him? Video perhaps? Got some freebies? I could’ve sworn I sensed some soju vibe cheering with the crowd, “Jung Ji-hoon, Jung Ji-hoon!” lol!! You should’ve at least brought his album and gave it to me! It’s not available in my country!

    Peace!

  23. 26 soju October 29, 2008 at 11:00 am

^my co-worker bought me a lightstick. costed her 2000 won. i ended up giving it back to her because i have no use for it.

there was a guy hawking cellphone charms outside the stadium. round ones with a dragonfly clip at the top, and another design with “bi saranghae” in hangul. silvertone. i think my co-worker said those costed 3000 won each. i didn’t bother with those, but i think she bought one or two.

i’ve got a couple of pictures of big bang and ftts. and the program. and, yes. i do have a video of big bang performing “haruharu”. wanna see it?

i might even have one of dRain. might. wanna see THAT one?

and no. i didn’t buy the cd. you should have told me that you wanted one. i would have bought it for you. but then again, it’s cheaper on yesasia.

  24. 27 shinta October 29, 2008 at 11:19 am

^Lucky you!!! You should’ve approached Rain, took a picture with him, and told him you’re his no.1 hater! Wonder what his face’ll be.. lol! Just kidding..

Nah..not interested in other k-pop acts..Just Rain..But I guess I’ve seen enough of his vids on youtube. But thanks for the offer anyway..I came into a realization that you indeed have a “fangirl self” in you..I thought you’re just a bunch of hate trapped in a person’s body..lol

Oh well, I’ll have my time one day..Who knows I’ll be up on one of his concerts..and who knows(again),you and I might bump into each other’s butts when that time comes! lol..

  25. 28 felisshi October 29, 2008 at 2:08 pm

I totally agree with American Tale 100% times 10.

  26. 29 j k October 29, 2008 at 10:07 pm

he is like the britney spears of korea.

  27. 30 chaz October 30, 2008 at 12:19 am

well, thing is, he can’t write beautiful lyrics, and he’s not wroking his ass on that. people can write for him of course, coz he’s just a singer/dancer, but i don’t know if he seriously wanted to be known as a serious singer/ artist by singing those kind of songs. or maybe he just want another catchy song to dance to. so what if he wants to inform others he’s changing and stepping out of JYP? that doesn’t necessarily equate to resorting to suggestive lyrics. people can still have dat bad boy image and still be praised for their music.

oh well, maybe Jay Chou is already a god of music for most people. but he’s one perfect example of someone who people see as “cool”, w/ a semi bad boy image, but is highly praised for his artistry and music quality.

for Korea? i always admired Big Bang for their hardwork in their music.

  28. 31 miki October 30, 2008 at 3:48 am

^^ “he can’t write beautiful lyrics, and he’s not wroking his ass on that. people can write for him of course, coz he’s just a singer/dancer”

Oh I think he goes beyond “just a singer/dancer”. He is also a newcomer to writing lyrics and from what I’ve heard from his latest CD, I think he did just fine as he had a hand in writing lyrics to many of his latest songs.

Anyone remember an interview he had about a month or two before this album came out where he said something to the fact that the album will make people stand up and take notice and will surprise a lot of people? Boy, he sure did that because aren’t a lot of people talking about it now…good or bad, it’s all publicity. IMO, he wanted to break away to a more adult image. I’d like to think of it as the evolution of Rain and he has gained a greater respect and attention from me because of it.

  29. 32 LOL October 30, 2008 at 6:32 am

“he is like the britney spears of korea.”

    LOLOLOLOL.

  30. 33 doha October 30, 2008 at 11:12 am

    @soju

of course i can’t see what i dont want to see, that’s why i dont go to other singers forums/articles/topics and trash talking their performances. trust me, it’s going to be uglier than yours. i’ve seen some of those boys performances… but what for?

yah, whatever you say, Rain made it bigger than those names. i guess nature did its own selection. we have seen who stand the trial of time. that speaks a lot

  31. 34 soju October 31, 2008 at 3:34 am

    @doha

you think ps is a dRain-only site? you think i go to dRain-usa to read all the idolizing, albeit, blinded views of clouds? no, i don’t. i can’t stomach all the blind testimonials.

i come to ps because i like this site. just goes to show that dRain ISN’T the only game in town and not everybody idolizes him. if people want to trash-talk him, fine. people trash every other artist out there. why should he be an exception?

as for standing the trial of time? dear, i think that 6 years is a drop in the bucket. its too early to say that he “stood the test of time”.

where do you think dbsk will be next year? 2009 will be 6 years in the biz for them and i think they’ll be hotter than ever before by then. in your estimation, will they have stood the test of time? how about shinwha? they debuted in 1999.

and someone mentioned him being the britney spears of korea. i think that statement is pretty much spot-on.

  32. 35 CeceliaS November 3, 2008 at 4:18 pm

I guess people just fear change and the truth haha
but yeah American music is WAY DIRTIER and I don’t
    see it banned anywhere o.O

OMFG the taking a dump part
    WAS GOLDEN!! Haha
it wins my GOLDEN AGE AWARD
    hahaha

  33. 36 markie November 27, 2008 at 3:43 pm

When I was reading the first set of lyrics.. i was like WTH “dump”, then I started thinking okay.. I don’t think I want to like Rain anymore. LOL but WTHthose lyrics aren’t as bad as some of these rap songs I hear.
