Rumors have been circulating for a while that Tablo and the Epik High gang are done for good after their long-awaited mini-album Lovescream. The boys have stated that in the beginning, their underground music served to showcase hiphop to the Korean pop world. However, now they are saying that initial vision may have been lost. The trio also added that they think people do not like their music as much as before.
It makes sense if you think about it- for example, take any pop star from a relatively unknown city/town. After being discovered by a major record label, their image changes to fit the celebrity persona. Maybe they lose sight of who they used to be.
Mithra Jin stated in an exclusive interview with Newsen that just like baseball players, they have had the chance to earn a living doing something they love. Tablo said that if it were possible to give up the stardom but keep making music, he would go in that direction.
As of right now, Epik High is standing on rocky ground. Looks like the boys need some loyal fans, especially in the motherland! We can only hope that they stay together to continue to make inspiring, innovative music.

i only got to know about Epik High recently and now im really into their music.
They’re definely different from the other typical boy/girl bands nowadays !
They’re one of those few groups in Korea that has talent and earned many people’s respect for that.
Their music is influential and well liked too.

You know what, with attitudes like that they SHOULD break up!! One thing I hate more than talentless “musicians” are people who have real talent, throwing it all away because they cant really “express” themselves. If you want to go back to making the music you started with then JUST DO IT! I think they are just worried that they are losing their popularity and they would rather bow out now than fight against the teeny bob music crap thats going on. Either way they are quitters are that’s just LAME!!

i love them! and i love them more with each album that they come out! i think that celebdom always takes something away from bands and singers, but epik high is one of the few groups that actually try to stay loyal to what they believe in. plus, i love their lyrics.

this reminds me of tablo’s words, he once said he will stop epik high if the piracy rate increases. cant blame him tho. the piracy rate in korea is, well, everyone knows.
They may not have many fans in korea, but i never doubt their immense popularity globally. That’s all.
That is so like them. I don’t know if it’s to garner interest, but they do have an attitude that is undoubtedly different than most celebrities in the industry. Just watch Tablo’s appearance on the old YSMM, and you can see exactly what I mean.
I sincerely hope they don’t disband though. I love their music, and have been getting even more into it lately. It’s just such a different feel. Wish them all the best! Epik High fighting!
