When it Rains….it POURS!

The old saying is right!

Our favorite ESL student Rain, will now soon be starring along side Jun Ji-hyun in a new drama entitled, “Four Seasons”, which will be broadcast by SBS network. The story is supposedly about a war correspondent (Jun) and an adopted child (Rain) who later becomes a mercenary for France.

This seemingly uninteresting drama is costing a whopping 1.5 billion won (though they’ll most likely make it all back since Magic Feet is in it) and with greater reach beyond Korea. The drama is expected to be aired in China and Japan as well.

This will be Jun Ji-hyun’s first return to the small screen in ten years. The natural beauty is most known for her role in the classic romantic comedy, “My Sassy Girl”, with Cha Tae-hyun. As for Rain, it will have been 3 years since his last drama, “A Love to Kill” with Shin Min-ah.

“Four Seasons” is set to air in February of 2009.

It seems with all the music promotions, magazine covers, TV appearances and now this new drama, that Rain is trying to dig his magic feet deep back into Korean soil…. Maybe he’s giving up on his American dream? Should he?

What do you think?

Ehh…. can’t really assume anything. Besides, SBS isn’t doing so good with their drama’s lately.

  2. 2 XYZ November 4, 2008 at 3:51 am

Love Jun Ji Hyun, she is so cute!

  3. 3 mygookness November 4, 2008 at 3:54 am

hell yea! first thing rain will be doing since coming back to korea that’s interesting to me. now this i can’t wait to see since i’ve always wanted to see these two collaborate in something together. he has always said that she’s his ideal woman so let’s see if the chemistry is there. such a pleasant surprise that they both decided on going back to the small screen.

  4. 4 K November 4, 2008 at 4:02 am

Yay? As long as one of them doesn’t die in the end it has potential. Well, it could be bad if they make him use pointless English, though.

  5. 5 Empress80 November 4, 2008 at 4:04 am

I will watch or listen to anything this man does. Also, I really like Jun Ji-hyun. She was fantastic in My Sassy Girl. I can’t believe she hasn’t been in very many dramas.

  6. 6 melody November 4, 2008 at 4:08 am

This will be a COOL drama. This drama will be a hit, and SBS will make a lot more than just 1.5 billion Won.

  7. 7 Empress80 November 4, 2008 at 4:09 am

I just hope this drama isn’t too melodramatic. Rain’s last drama “Bad Love” was too painful to watch, expecially with the very sad story line that the viewers had to follow along with and then both main characters ended up dying in the end. So to the writers of this drama, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t make it overly melodrmatic. I don’t think I can stand to watch another k-drama with the cliched terminal illness, falling inlove with your brother or sister storyline.

  8. 8 melody November 4, 2008 at 4:11 am

I don’t think he is giving up his American Dream. He is in Ninja Assassin, and this movie will be a hit (Americans love Ninja and action stuffs). After Ninja Assassin, he will become more popular. I think will be more popular as an actor rather than a singer in American market. I hope he will be successful in both.

  9. 9 DanielK November 4, 2008 at 4:16 am

I thought both of them were going to be making it in Hollywood? Looks like the early word on both of their projects aren’t that great. But this is a pretty interesting pairing. They are both pretty much the biggest thing in Korea right now. I’ll check out the first few episodes just to see how it works out.

  10. 10 blahhhhhblahhhh November 4, 2008 at 4:25 am

wow! Jun Ji Hyun has “man hands” in that picture. They’re huge!

  11. 11 HAHAHA November 4, 2008 at 4:34 am

i just noticed that she has MAN’S HAND.

  12. 12 latte01 November 4, 2008 at 4:46 am

    it will make a BIG KAAAABOOOMMM^^…Interesting ever^^

  13. 13 otto November 4, 2008 at 4:46 am

they do have a lot in common.

both star in american productions about to release in 2009.

both starred in korean movies that flopped miserably (her last 2: If I were Superman, Daisy; his last & only: I’m a Cyborg But that’s OK.)

i wouldn’t mind seeing him act on TV again. at least it’ll shut him up with the glut of personal sob stories.

  14. 14 otto November 4, 2008 at 4:48 am

OMG you’re right - her hand is huge!

photoshopped like those kim jung-il photos?
    it’s 1/4 of her body!

  15. 15 confused November 4, 2008 at 4:53 am

I don’t think Rain has given up on the U.S. I just have a hunch Rain will still have some U.S. projects lined up.

as for this drama? hmm…both are good actors. let’s see how it’ll unfold.

  16. 16 valski November 4, 2008 at 4:55 am

so wait, he has to learn french too i assume. gosh i wouldn’t even give it a shot. he’s just not the same rain anymore.

  17. 17 nina November 4, 2008 at 4:58 am

Wow, yay! It’s gonna be the two naturals starring together!

I like both, because even though they’re nowhere near on par with the rest of the Korean celebrities, they at least have got one thing, that they’re natural.

I always tell my ugly friends that they shouldn’t be sad, because as long as they don’t get plasticized like the rest, they still have that special, “natural” flavor to them.

  18. 18 guava November 4, 2008 at 5:15 am

    ahh; love rain<3

the drama sounds interesting…well with the little info i know about it so far =P

  19. 19 lemonade November 4, 2008 at 5:32 am

    nina says:

“I always tell my ugly friends that they shouldn’t be sad….”

LOL @ my ugly friends !

  20. 20 soohyun3194 November 4, 2008 at 5:36 am

awww poor Yunho from DBSK. he apparently loveeeees jun ji hyun.

  21. 21 Lady GaGa November 4, 2008 at 5:40 am

I think Korean cinema has an obsession with every freakin season… Four Seasons?! Come on… Let’s see, there was Winter Sonata, Autumn Fairytale, Spring something (I think there was a couple of these) and Summer Scent… And all that is going to be combinned into one powerhouse of tears, sickness and star-crossed lovers. Any hints of this turning into a comedy?

  22. 22 Mina November 4, 2008 at 5:50 am

ahaha. Stay in korea rain, stay in korea.
    :D

  23. 23 taylor November 4, 2008 at 6:25 am

Yay!!! Rain’s coming back, to Korea!!! Although i am not from korea!!! so happy!!

  24. 24 rosanne November 4, 2008 at 6:30 am

sorry but they are not excellent actors at all…..
    no offence…

  25. 25 bubbles November 4, 2008 at 6:38 am

    exciting news

  26. 26 Kmusic November 4, 2008 at 6:56 am

“Rain who later becomes a mercenary for France.”

    For France, really ?

Hum, am I the only one who is worried ?
Will Rain have to speak French?

His english is already very poor, soooooo I have some doubts about french…

whatever, still happy that he will airing in a new drama with Jun Ji-hyun! I kinda miss her….

  27. 27 Jasmine* November 4, 2008 at 7:17 am

I would watch the drama no matter what XD Rain is a great actor as long as he is speaking korean..i really admire his talent ^^ and well JJH she has this charisma going on that i really like about her!

  28. 28 callisto November 4, 2008 at 8:29 am

Jaejoong and Han Hyo Joo’s drama, Heaven’s Postman > This. Even though SBS is broadcasting both. haha

  29. 29 J November 4, 2008 at 8:33 am

Plot sounds terrible. Probably won’t watch this

  30. 30 Alvina November 4, 2008 at 8:45 am

I think Rain should switch to drama now. I actually liked him in A Love to Kill. It was a really good movie ^_^

… or maybe, he should just be a professional dancer…

something where he either shuts his mouth or just speaks Korean >_<

  31. 31 rolleyes November 4, 2008 at 8:59 am

    1. This is old news. This has been floating around in the media since May 2008.

    2. As far as I know, both Rain and JJH have turned down this drama because the filming schedule clashed with their respective schedules in Hollywood.

  32. 32 Sara November 4, 2008 at 9:04 am

I enjoy watching Rain in KOREAN speaking roles. He definitely should do a drama.

  33. 33 asianromance November 4, 2008 at 9:26 am

sounds like it’ll be a melodrama. The two seem to be so busy with their own things- how will they find the time to make a drama together. But I like Jun Ji Hyun and like Rain’s acting so I’m happy for them.

  34. 34 TVXQBBLOVE November 4, 2008 at 9:29 am

Ever since his comeback, it’s Rain. Rain. Rain! And I’m lovin’ it!

  35. 35 ewww November 4, 2008 at 9:36 am

Jun JiHyun sucks! She should just stick to modeling!

  36. 36 Lynn November 4, 2008 at 10:03 am

0__0 her hands are huge! lol, I like her acting, she reminds me of myself sorta with the ways she treats the guys. I wonder how many Yunho will watch this drama lol.

  37. 37 Lynn November 4, 2008 at 10:03 am

    **how many times Yunho
    my bad!

  38. 38 cute_pixie November 4, 2008 at 10:11 am

~Always loved Jun Ji Hyun… Wishes for her …

  39. 39 aj November 4, 2008 at 10:35 am

She does have huge hands! As for Rain, I glad he’s doing a drama in korea again.

  40. 40 Aaliyah8 November 4, 2008 at 10:44 am

Yeah.. I remembered in his early years that she was his ideal kinda woman.. so this should be interesting.

  41. 41 Dee November 4, 2008 at 10:56 am

When I read this article, i was thinking about Yunho XD
    Jun Ji Hyun and Rain.
Aww, poor Yunho. I’m sure he’s gonna follow the drama

  42. 42 FRUITY November 4, 2008 at 11:44 am

this team up is very exciting!! yes its been a long time since Rain’s last drama in korea,,

about unho, he just better support his dream “Sassy Girl”

  43. 43 fangirl November 4, 2008 at 12:09 pm

heheh!!!well, it’s a wonderful thing that they’re both, back in the small screen…i’m really excited to watch it!! actually, many guys love “my sassy girl”.. they have fallen in love, not only with Ji Hyun’s character, but the person of Ji Hyun as well..Like Yunho..weeeeeee!!!!i wonder too.. how many times he would be watching this..GO GO GO Yunho oppa!! God bless to Ji Hyun and Rain.. and Congratulations in advance!!heheh!!

  44. 44 Rin November 4, 2008 at 12:34 pm

A love to kill was the bomb, i really don’t know about this though =/ hrmmm

  45. 45 minnie November 4, 2008 at 12:37 pm

i can’t help but mention SHINee
they have a song called four seasons!
maybe it’ll be featured on the OST? hahaha

but i’m really looking forward to this,
i loved rain in full house
and jun ji hyun in my sassy girl
but then again, that’s how i felt about that drama with hyun bin and song hye kyo.
see i already forgot the title…

  46. 46 haezi November 4, 2008 at 12:51 pm

i’m looking forward to this since it’s the same writer of thank you (lee kyung hee). she also wrote i’m sorry, i love you and a love to kill. i hope it’s not too depressing, though.

  47. 47 missy November 4, 2008 at 1:01 pm

like alot of u ..i noticed THE HANDS first on her..lol my gosh!…they are huuuuugggee on her…is that really HER hand??

  48. 48 nhia November 4, 2008 at 2:00 pm

lmfao… I nearly choked from reading all the huge, manly hand comments.. >O< I don’t find Rain’s acting skill to be too polished. Might as well wait and watch the last episode to see his progression… if this drama does ever get produced with them two in the starring role.

If it is like rolleyes says… heh. There are better dramas to look at.

  49. 49 Vamp Charisma November 4, 2008 at 2:09 pm

Give up on the American dream. He’s just making a fool out of himself. I mean, seriously, were it not for his huge Clouds fanbase, he probably wouldn’t have made it thus far.

  50. 50 tina November 4, 2008 at 2:18 pm

    LOL a mercenary.

that sounds so awful that i will have to watch the first episode especially with his acting skills. o man.

  51. 51 suga November 4, 2008 at 2:20 pm

what a boring concept, probably gonna end up with the same rating as SHK’s recent drama
the full house days are over, you know

  52. 52 rocelle November 4, 2008 at 2:40 pm

They haven’t confirm by each side that they will do this drama…Anyone know??

  53. 53 Raynebow90 November 4, 2008 at 2:57 pm

    new drama???
    exited?? hmmm…

  54. 54 lollipop November 4, 2008 at 3:34 pm

two famous person..hmm, i think it will go well..
i’d like to see rain stars back in korean dramas..dat would be awesome..^^

  55. 55 lOG November 4, 2008 at 3:37 pm

Rain has hardly made an impact in the music industry since his comeback, I guess turning to acting is another way for him to find success

  56. 56 Diana November 4, 2008 at 3:47 pm

I don’t know whats so special about Jun Ji-hyun..she puts on an act and is a total tom boy. Just because she starred in the most popular movie does not make her worth of all this praise. I think they should have cast Im Su Jung who starred in “I’m a Cyborg, but it’s Ok” with Rain..she is so cute and down to earth and her acting is flawless.

  57. 57 luluspg November 4, 2008 at 4:44 pm

i just hope this new drama wont be as sad as A love to Kill… that show made me very depressed…. but i must say, that was when i became a very big fan of Rain…. i dont care what others say…. he is just simply the best….

  58. 58 F.la November 4, 2008 at 5:32 pm

damn~ it’s gonna be interesting to watch it
    i like ‘em both lolz..

  59. 59 Pamy November 4, 2008 at 6:18 pm

    Hey !!
    That’s seems cool !
Does they will film some part in France ?? coz i am french ^^

Does Rain will do the new season of “Full House”

    Bye ^^

  60. 60 meggie November 4, 2008 at 6:21 pm

he has great acting skill, dont know bout her.

i’ve just got my rainism, oh may the album was great.
i think it’s the best compare to his previous’.
there’re seriously thick american flavors in the album

  61. 61 nicole November 4, 2008 at 7:03 pm

    lol, poor yunho.

  62. 62 pandoracat November 4, 2008 at 7:16 pm

    great Rain!! :) good news

  63. 63 tony November 4, 2008 at 7:28 pm

i don’t like the story or sad korean drama , but i like rain
i’ll still watch “four seasons” because of rain , if they
    really make the drama .

  64. 64 Nadia November 4, 2008 at 8:05 pm

NO, like other artists he can have it all, after all POPSEOUL he has a movie being released in the states in 2009 as well. I wish him luck.
    Peace

  65. 65 seung lee November 4, 2008 at 8:40 pm

because rain knows how much asian fans have been waiting for him long time while he was in USA (more than 3years?) he wants to comeback home with his fans for quite time…. that doesn’t mean anyhing about giving up hope for america… idiot

  66. 66 fraulein November 4, 2008 at 8:40 pm

” I just hope this drama isn’t too melodramatic. Rain’s last drama “Bad Love” was too painful to watch…”

Erm…. He acted in A Love to Kill, Kwon Sang-woo was in Bad Love

  67. 67 Mel November 4, 2008 at 9:40 pm

Well I liked A love to kill….. hopefully this would be a good drama!! :D

  68. 68 yana November 4, 2008 at 10:54 pm

    yeppi!!!!! Rain is back!!!
    waiting !!

  69. 69 tynice November 4, 2008 at 11:09 pm

i’m going to watch this drama no matter how boring it will be(but i hope it won’t!)coz it’s rain.

  70. 70 cappycaller November 4, 2008 at 11:12 pm

OMG..i hope this drama will shown in the Philppines..right after the airing in Korea..i love both of them..they are good actors ^o^..the story is interesting..different from the ‘Love Contract’ plots that I watched

  71. 71 felisshi November 4, 2008 at 11:15 pm

Are you kidding me? Rain will continue to be a Hollywood star for sure. Maybe he’s still waiting for the right script though. But I’m glad he’s back doing Korean drama. I’d rather see him acting in 16 or so episodes rather than in a 2 hour movie. The longer I see him on tv the better. I just can’t get enough of him. I wish I were in Korea so I could see him on tv more often. I love all his Korean dramas. They are getting better and better each time. I’m sure this latest one is no exception. Goodluck Rain. When are you coming back to Los Angeles? When is Ninja’s premiere night?

  72. 72 passang November 4, 2008 at 11:42 pm

the storyline doesnt really suit my taste but there are two absolutely beautiful people in the lead so it wouldnt hurt my eyes to check it out…rain fighting.

  73. 73 Hero-JaeJoong November 5, 2008 at 1:57 am

    Huh?
Jung Ji Hyun has been missing from the small screen for 10 years?
wow.didnt know its been so long?
Anw,i hope the drama is good !
cant really say the storyline appeals to me,but i hope Rain adn JJH will do well in this drama ^^

  74. 74 Sierra November 5, 2008 at 2:24 am

    Whatever… :P

  75. 75 soju November 5, 2008 at 4:52 am

i was wondering why, out of all the scripts out there, dRain agreed to do this one.

then i saw jung ji-hyun’s big, manly hands, and it all suddenly makes sense.

    bwahahaha

  76. 76 mastermind November 5, 2008 at 8:19 am

i read somewhere Rain did not take any hollywood offers for the moment because Warner people suggest him not to take another movie yet.
as what i know he is under 3 or 5 years contract with US Warner Studio.

my biggest dissapointment is he rejected the proposal to star in Transformer 2

the writer of this drama is Rain’s biggest fan, it’s her who ask him to star in it, and since she is also one of the best drama writers in korea, Rain puts lots of trust in her.

isnt it great to have a fan from one of the best drama writers in town? he’s sure a big deal

  77. 77 umiez November 5, 2008 at 11:31 am

The drama sounds boring! He only fits fun/comedic roles!
    And Jun Jihyun is overrated!

  78. 78 m-flo November 5, 2008 at 11:39 am

i love JJH! actually they are both JJH! jun ji hyun and jung ji hoon! but i love jun ji hyun! im definitely going to watch this for her! i hope this doesnt turn into another epic-ratings-failure like Song Hye Kyo and Hyunbin’s much hyped ‘Worlds Within’.

  79. 79 Sanjo-chan November 5, 2008 at 6:47 pm

Another Drama with Rain? Yay!! ^_^ I hope it doesn’t end up like “A Love to Kill”. This one sounds like it after seeing “War” and “Mercenary”. But it’s worth checking out a few of episodes to see how to goes..

  80. 80 sssshh November 6, 2008 at 3:12 am

But ‘A Love to Kill’ is brilliant!! It tested out Rain’s excellent acting skills. Respect!!

  81. 81 clover November 6, 2008 at 4:09 am

    y jung ji hyun?hate her!!!

    where have you been girl?
    you’re sure lost

  83. 83 felisshi November 6, 2008 at 5:13 pm

If you live outside Korea like me, and you cannot get enough of your favorite male star, you feel helpless; desperate at times. So, what I do is watch youtube all the time; see his 3 dramas over and over again ; Wait patiently for his next movie or drama. So, whatever drama it is, whether it is romantic, epic or comedy ; we appreciate it so much. Beggars can’t be choosers. I can’t believe I watched “I’m a cyborg, but that’s okay”, and it’s not even up to par. So you see, that’s how I love Rain.

  84. 84 Asianman November 8, 2008 at 5:49 am

why does Rain always look like a girl too me in most of his pic is he trying to be like a girl or what
guess Rain will show his little stick between his leg for the viewer to see so he can get more viewer when it does air ^^
