umm, that’s quite false.
korea and stupid leukemia/cancer have been around forever – ex: autumn tale (2000), secret,winter sonata, popcorn, etc etc.
a walk to remember the movie didn’t come out til 2002? ish, and nobody even read the book before that.

I hope they will remain faithful to the Korean version. Though Im sure it will not live up to my expectations it will probably be more sexual and shallow but hopefully it won’t. A part of me hopes it will be successful as it may expose more people to the wonderful world of Asian dramas. In the last decade or so American television has become increasingly worse, terrible confusing plots, too overly shallow, way too racy and sexual. Asian dramas have wonderful heartfelt plots, they make you laugh out loud, cry like a baby and at the end there is a clear, strong message. Basically they make you feel like life can be a fairy tale, no matter how harsh the world is. They show a world that we all secretly relate too and want, even if they are tragic love stories e.g. Stairway to Heaven

Yes it’s stupid and Americans will mess it up. I want to see Korean dramas/movies made by Koreans. It is very hard to do this in the U.S. I wish I could find a place to rent/buy tapes or vcr but most don’t have english captions and I can only speak a few K words so far

Ugh….this is gonna suck….America sucks at remakes. The only time they got it right was in the Departed and the first Ring brought some chills as well. Other than that they all sucked.
