Wonder Bakery wants a “bun in the oven”

The new MNET show, “Wonder Bakery” debuted with its first episode on November 5, 2008 but there was no baking involved- unless that means “a bun in the oven.”

According to the intro, the premise of the show is supposed to be a survivor type deal with bakers vying for the monetary prize at the end with professional sponsors like Crown Bakery. However, Wonder Bakery is more like a blind date set up between the Wonder Girls and five decent looking guys than a professional baking competition.

Here’s the breakdown:

1. Use cute creative ways to set up the partners.
The show utilized fortune cookies to determine the partner arrangements.

2. Make sure neither partner knows the identity of the other.
Neither boy nor girl knew the identity of the other person until the actually meeting.

3. Go out on an awkward date.
Yes, the girls and the bakers went out on an awkward date to an amusement park of all places.

Wasn’t this show supposed to be a bake-off of sorts? The first mission was to bake a one-of-a-kind cake on their major test day but why of all places did they go to an amusement park? Was it supposed to serve as an inspiration for the teams?

Hmm, guess we’ll have to wait and see until the next episode to see all of them in action, baking action that is.

i first thought hmm maybe the kinda like antique bakery. yeah except that they are girls boys involve.

    in my view:
one.if its called wonder bakery, why shouldnt one another to know thier identity. introduction first of evrything. talk baout stuff which definitely is about making sweet cake!

two.takes place in the bakery well arent they suppose to be there? the perfect place for the next task young bakers teach the girls to make the most simplest,delicious,eye-catching and most importantly the sweetest taste that only the both two will share.

three. finally, on for a date might sound appropiate.
bon appetite! taste and compliment/complaint after all they got their hands on it.

at least by doing this, makes a sense. and everything we all really wanted and matters the smell of sweet sweet creme patissiere oh tempting!

and i get what the writer really means by “bun in the oven”.
    lol

i love wonder bakery and c’mon this is just a entertaining show, you can choose not to watch it, why bash the girls?!

  3. 3 marr November 10, 2008 at 7:50 pm

well you really have to watch the show first viewers,
before commenting or even anything for you to “leave” your words as reply. articles are just summaries not always right. the reason why im regretting so much after knowing the details. dam.

actually quiet feel the wonder bakery means and i dont really get whats “bun in the oven” ;B they have mission baking together for an occasion not actually dat-ing-ah, feel the escape: letting go the awkwardness or whatever it means.
and yeah dont always believe the views and whats written on articles before acknowledging yourself first with whats really happening my bad always. i like videos better its full details and keeps you searching and wondering and logically thinking did i get any fun watching or wasting my time? decide. a waste

I watched the episode and it was to bake a cake that would take the stress off the students sitting their exams. So the inspiration was to go somewhere where you release that stress.

It was an introduction episode so I didn’t expect them to get straight into baking. I thought it was good eitherway and it has to appeal to the age ranges that’s watch Wonder Girls so of course they picked young men around their age.

And baking (or general cooking) isn’t just taste. it’s aesthetics. Their cakes may end up having a mini rollercoaster or hot air balloon somewhere on it.

Eitherway, whatever jsut have ot wait and see. ^_^

How in the world can 5 talentless girls make in it in the music business? The Korean music industry has really lowered their standards. Shame on them.

Why is it even called bakery if they’re not gonna bake anything? Should be called “Wondergirls’ Blind Dating”, or something like that.

anyway, watched it .. it’s a slow start.

  23. 24 Minjookie November 15, 2008 at 4:45 pm

The show seems interesting, I just realize WG did a “food song” for some special food expo, lol. I was like ‘OMGGG I can totally make a fanvid out of wonderbakery with that song LOL’ XD

SunMi on this show is beyond stunning, I miss her full long gorgeous hair. =/ But it is funny, I like to see how they talk to their partners, lol. Sohee’s partner is much older than her so she feels shy around him x.x; I think sunmi’s partner likes her lol until he found out she was in high school.

SunYe’s partner is a fan lol xD the other two partners I can’t tell much about them yet, lol. But sunmi’s partner is adorable.
