At the ripe old age of 29, Shinhwa member, Kim Dong-wan will begin his military duties on November 17th. Unfortunately, putting off your military duties when are you hitting 30 is not a good idea when you have to go through 4 weeks of rigorous training. But lucky for him, Kim Dong-wan gets to sit out his 2 years of army duties behind a desk.
On the day of his enlistment, 200 fans were at hand to say their teary goodbyes.
Kim Dong-wan will be joining fellow Shinhwa member, Eric.
he looks the most handsome out of all those other celebs enlisting with the crew hair cut.
it’s cuz he’s naturally good-looking and doesnt need all the crazy hair to cover his face to make him look hot

He got a desk job because he’s the only child and he doesn’t have a father (since he was little). Korea has this regulation that guys who are the only child in the family get exempted from active duty. I mean, if he dies on duty, who’ll take care of his family????

Maybe I’m in the minority but I think Korean women should serve in the military too. Israel also has compulsory military service and both men and women serve.
It would help shed the stereotype of the timid Asian woman and get the female population in shape, as long as they aren’t doing desk jobs like the majority of celebrities.

You know what I think is strange? Why don’t all the members leave at the same time? That way, the fans only miss them for a maximum as 2 years… (and so they can reunite faster).
Just like Koyote: KJM’s gone, but Baekka hasn’t left, so we have to wait until Baekka comes back before we see the group again! (p.s. I miss Koyote soooooo much!)

Dongwan’s birthday is on November 21 so the fans gave him an early birthday celebration since he will be training on that day and they won’t have another opportunity to do it

I don’t see anything wrong with serving his country behind the desk. He is doing his duty regardless of where he is positioned.
