Big Bang goes to college

college_081119
Finally more people are going off to college!

YG Entertainment just recently released the news that Big Bang’s G-Dragon and Dae Sung have been accepted into Kyunghee University. The boys will be joining a vast array of other fellow singers who have attended the school, including our favorite alum, Rain.

With the new school term staring in March (as opposed to September in North America), the boys will have time to learn English while vacationing in the U.S. over the long winter holidays. Once school starts in the spring, we are certain they probably won’t even show up for class…. because they are famous.

  2. 2 아저씨 November 19, 2008 at 8:05 pm

I think they’ll pick up english pretty fast. It might get pretty fluent if they’re just put in a place that mostly speaks english. Best of luck for school!

    yey~! go dae and bong~!

  4. 4 Rin November 19, 2008 at 8:37 pm

Man, G and Dae are going to college when they won’t attend classes? What’s the point?!?! lols and I thought daedae hated school hahas. Oh wells kudos to them for pleasing us fans anyways!! Hey, atleast they can say they went to college right? Have fun in America boys!

  5. 5 felisshi November 19, 2008 at 8:38 pm

Why, could you buy a diploma to finish college? Maybe not.

  6. 6 Nadia November 19, 2008 at 9:02 pm

They may be famous in Korea and Japan but in America they won’t get all the hype. If they don’t attend classes they better have tutors.
    Peace

  7. 7 TomatoJuice November 19, 2008 at 9:08 pm

good for them!! all the way~~

  8. 8 blahblahbon November 19, 2008 at 9:17 pm

lmao. Go GD and Deasung! I love seeing these idols show they care about their education as well. Good good, we don´t like retarded idols. Wait, is TOP in college yet? Excuse me for being slow.

i think you are being pretty unfair.. i know this is a gossip blog, but still… you rant about people not attending college [remember the post where you were all upset about daesung dropping out of highschool] and if they are finally able to get their uber-tight schedule, stressed health, private life and education together, you go all: ‘they won’t even show up’… i don’t ask anyone to be overly generous with compliments but i think you should be fair. especially when knowing that daesung had to prepare for his studies without graduating..

otherwise.. congrats to the boys.. kyunghee university is not that bad…^^

i think wondergirls is a big influence for those people. school and career at the same time… yahoo! :)

  11. 11 HARUHARU November 19, 2008 at 11:25 pm

It’s great that we are going to college. Don’t call the big bang members some ugly names like bong etc….
    They got some hott names..

  12. 12 Kaybee November 19, 2008 at 11:36 pm

    DAESUNG FIGHTING!!!

  17. 17 yay November 20, 2008 at 1:54 am

i hope they follow through and learn english well so when they decide to tour in the US they can converse with us fluently. its slightly better in the newer songs.

  18. 18 idyllise November 20, 2008 at 3:20 am

i HOPE since they got into college, they will actually attend some classes. if they cant make it to most of the classes, fine, but as much as possible, read their books and stuff. singing and music is smexy; but ignorance and lack of knowledge is not. not that im saying they lack it or they are stupid, but its best to learn, especially when you’re still young :)

  19. 19 Sue November 20, 2008 at 3:20 am

it’ll probably take them a while to graduate, but props to them!

  20. 20 sunnyside November 20, 2008 at 3:33 am

So “summer vacation” in korea is december? That’s cool. I wanna go there for winter break then.

“Once school starts in the spring, we are certain they probably won’t even show up for class…. because they are famous.”

Are you kidding me? Not that I don’t see that happening, but why do you quickly judge people, Popseoul?

  22. 22 Ren November 20, 2008 at 4:13 am

wow it would be fun if they attend classes

  23. 23 stopcomingtoAMERICA November 20, 2008 at 4:18 am

whats the point if they dont attend classes its just so they shut up people who will criticize them for being all about fame.

  24. 24 lev November 20, 2008 at 4:21 am

I forgot some of them didn’t finish school. XD

  25. 25 SomeOfOurPictures November 20, 2008 at 4:25 am

  26. 26 XYZ November 20, 2008 at 4:32 am

  27. 27 amy November 20, 2008 at 4:39 am

  33. 33 sovereign November 20, 2008 at 11:21 am

hmmm i smell publicity everywhere…they’re just saying that to make themselves look good, after all, that’s what korea is all about. If you don’t go to school, your a failure.

  34. 34 Maureen November 20, 2008 at 11:46 am

I’m a vip and I’m glad that they are going to school. But seriously, I really hope they’ll turn for classes at least most of the time. But the college that they’re going to is where a lot of celebrities go too. Hm.

  35. 35 Eunice November 20, 2008 at 11:51 am

    Gotta keep up appearances, yo~

  36. 36 dhas November 20, 2008 at 1:02 pm

yup they’ll meet ye eun there. i bet those three will get along fine since they’re int he same major. anyway i wonder what it’s like to have daesung in your class. i’d probably be distracted looking at him to pay attention to class and fail.

  37. 37 haku November 20, 2008 at 1:38 pm

come on now. seriously, is this a joke? are they REALLY going? i mean REALLY?

  38. 38 sierra November 20, 2008 at 2:14 pm

    Aw… they’re gonna get an education… :P

Is this Kyunghee Uni the place for celebs to enroll in and not attend classes? ;)

  39. 39 Vamp Charisma November 20, 2008 at 2:43 pm

Woohoo~ I’m glad this trend is picking up. I guess people are starting to realize that just being famous doesn’t guarantee a future.

  40. 40 anna November 20, 2008 at 6:36 pm
