Jaurim offends Muslims everywhere

Jaurim_mkmf_081119

First blood and now sacrilege.

Pop act, Jaurim (pron “jah-oo-rim”) must have thought it was “cool” to sample random Islamic music at the beginning of their song, because they are “cool.” However, little did they know (or perhaps didn’t care) that the sampled track has religious significance ? it is the Islamic call to prayer or the “Azan/Adhan/Atan.”

Even so, the call to prayer sounds more magical than Jaurim’s song “Magic Carpet Ride.”  The offensive performance was held at the Mnet KM Music Festival on November 15th.

And what is the front woman supposed to be? A princess? puleeze.

Fast forward to 4:55 to watch their performance.

Hmmm, she wasn’t exactly “smart” by doing that.

    yo PS you’re slow..

  3. 3 felisshi November 19, 2008 at 8:34 pm

Artists should know religion and respect what it represents.

  4. 4 leeza November 19, 2008 at 8:41 pm

    this girl is stupid.

  5. 5 Jung HyeHoon November 19, 2008 at 8:48 pm

who gave her the right to offend other religiouns?!
she has to do her homework!! or she’ll get into troubles

  6. 6 Shaikha November 19, 2008 at 8:50 pm

If this performer done this out of ignorance then May the Almighty Allah will forgive her and show her the right path but if they did this on purpose then in NO TIME the WRATH of Almighty Shall be with them!

  7. 7 Editor November 19, 2008 at 8:52 pm

First the Nazi cosmetics commercial and now this.

However, Jaurim is one of the very few Korean pop groups with any talent to speak of, after all they can at least play instruments and they know how to write music–unlike all of the producer-puppets du jour: the make-up plastered “sensitive” boy groups and the silicon-injected faux sensual pop-tarts, and of course let’s not forget the teary-eyed simpering ballad-uh whiners. For standing as tall as they do in such a pathetic musical wasteland, I think Jaurim deserves a little slack.

  8. 8 sakuradxb November 19, 2008 at 8:55 pm

she isn’t only stupid.. it makes me wonder how the organizer of this HUGE festival ignored that simple fact. How could they organize such a part of a song without searching about what it simple means.. Plus, why that part. Why used the prayer call and not any other Arabic words that can mean for example ‘red carpet magic’ or something.

As a Muslim, I was in a very big shock when I first downloaded the festival’s videos. I like Korean music, but using the prayer call in a Music is really a big thing to us.. you can check youtube link to check out what the words she used means in Muslim’s prayer call.

  9. 9 iskwe1456 November 19, 2008 at 9:02 pm

perhaps they could change it to try using some arabic singer song as replacement…arab do have great musician out there….

i guess this time was ignorance…she or whoever produces the song must not have known better…i do believe d muslims will understand….except the extremist…..

so they should change it….now im curious where the find the prayers…usually it’s always comes informed…from mosques….even when it’s on the internet somemone always put descriptions…oh well …never to late to change

  10. 10 Jill November 19, 2008 at 9:03 pm

    I am shocked..Jaurim should apologize…
    and i agree with Shaikha.

  11. 11 jhon November 19, 2008 at 9:04 pm

lol that just stupid of her should know what she doing before sing the song

  12. 12 CoffeeWithCake November 19, 2008 at 9:04 pm

The public has to learn to excuse these kinds of mistakes. Of course different nations will have some areas of knowledge where they are completely oblivious. This was obviously not meant for any malicious intent!

  13. 13 Jill November 19, 2008 at 9:04 pm

    Jaurim must apologize!!
    i agree with Shaikha.

  14. 14 TomatoJuice November 19, 2008 at 9:07 pm

Uh-Oh not so cool!! She’s over if muslims do see this little crap.

  15. 15 kinmochi November 19, 2008 at 9:08 pm

    what???!!!
    i am a muslim n i am totally offended..
in malaysia it is called azan and d purpose of it is to let everyone know dat our prayer time has begun…
it is a sacred thing n whoever written d song should make some research before putting it in the song

  16. 16 Uhm November 19, 2008 at 9:22 pm

Thats offending and stupid..its obvious they want to do that to attract attenion…they should respect other ppl’s religions.

As muslims we don’t even put it in songs or anything …I don’t know who those ppl are but Its obvious they are idiots who don’t deserve attention at all.

  17. 17 Plot November 19, 2008 at 9:28 pm

    Seriously?
I still don’t get why they should apologize.
Every religion makes fun of others. But for everybody’s sake the pope nore the dalai lama never asked somebody to apologize! How many times a music band?!!

Im not trying to be direspectful towards muslims but im just sick of all about that useless complaining. People are dying in Africa and Irak!!!

To conclude, im pretty sure JAURIM didn’t know adhan’s meaning when they used it.

  18. 18 Lina November 19, 2008 at 9:33 pm

I don’t get why are ppl offended by that..i mean they simply are not muslims and they probably had no idea it was that important to muslims..I don’t blame them really!

  19. 19 Shaikha November 19, 2008 at 9:34 pm

Athan or Azan -call for prayer in our Masjid (mosque) 5 times a day in which apply to worldwide muslim including KOREA! this is the part they taken… “Hayya ‘alas-Salaah (hasten to the prayer) and Hayya ‘alal-Falaah (hasten to salvation)-we muslim if we heard this calls we do response by saying “Laa hawla wa laa quwwata ‘illaa billaah (There is no Might and nor power except by Allah) then what this performer doing she is calling the muslim to HASTEN to SALVATION by listing and seeing her performance onstage!???

This performer and the people behind should apologize sincerely to the muslim around the world.

  20. 20 alyn November 19, 2008 at 9:43 pm

hey girl!!!…(jaurim)..you should`nt have to do like this….u have make a fool wit what muslim people respect of…your song. is not godd at all^^

  21. 21 BeeBee November 19, 2008 at 9:44 pm

Whether they knew what they were doing or not, a public APOLOGY must be done.

    Because the fact remains:
    1) They used a CALL TO PRAYER, whether it be a Muslim one, Christian, Buddhist, whatever, and used it on a set where girls are dancing sexily and gyrating around in their lingerie.
Any religion would be put off by that!
Adhan has been used in music/movies before but in settings where they respected for what they are.

    2) A lot of people, Muslims, Christians, others are really upset by this. Not knowing what they meant does not change the fact that at the end what Jaurim did was still wrong.

  22. 22 Plot November 19, 2008 at 9:45 pm

    @Shaikha.

I truly understand what you’re saying but Dang!
    Adhan is on YOUTUBE!
Something so sacred, muslims should just keep it in mosque or at home, in a safe place. It’s because it’s on youtube that JAURIM didn’t care about the importance of the calling.
For me the fault is shared.

  23. 23 Ria November 19, 2008 at 9:49 pm

I don’t mean to be offensive, but… Muslims take EVERYTHING too seriously, UGHH. There was nothing offensive in that song from a gentile viewpoint, just taking a couple passages from the prayer isn’t in itself a slap to islam, they’re just taking it that way because they take *everything* that way. The Euphemism Store needs to open up a branch in every Muslim neighborhood so they can stock up on Chill Pills! Maybe then one day you’ll hear about Muslim people having fun, enjoying life, cracking jokes and laughing, like everybody else on planet Earth. NEWSFLASH: Jaurim isn’t anti-islamic! They just don’t speak Arabic so they didn’t know what their musical director chose! NOT AN OFFENSE! Just like that video game “Little Big Planet”. Everybody got their panties in a bunch over that too, and it REALLY wasn’t offensive, it wasn’t even a prayer or anything. I wonder what regular, non-anal retentive Muslim folks think about this. They probably don’t even care that a Korean band they’d never heard of used a couple lines from a prayer by accident. Not caring is OKAY! It helps you move on with life, getting to that whole “having fun, laughing” thing I was talking about.

  24. 24 unhappy November 19, 2008 at 9:50 pm

um, why are there muslims on this korean site? personally i cant stand their religion and could care less about what offends them. muslims are too sensitive. what will they do now, destroy the 63 building?

  25. 25 nyssnisacha November 19, 2008 at 9:53 pm

i think rather than being cool she better do some research first..i hope she know now that it is a mistake..i hope whoever responsible for the song apologize..i’m a muslim too but i dont think it is intended, but it is seen as an ignorance, something that wasnt supposed to be done..she better did a research first if she wanna pull something like that again…

  26. 26 Sophia November 19, 2008 at 9:54 pm

    she’s just simply stupid..
    sigh..
    simply stupid Jaurim

  27. 27 Sheng November 19, 2008 at 9:56 pm

    to: Plot and Lina ,

Simple world RESPECT. Please know that why we muslim always accused of being extremist it’s because of mainly people who acts in haste w/o knowing the world respect. We muslim would never sell our soul, we will die depending our religion NOT the religion will die for us. And part of our FAITH is respecting any other religion.

  28. 28 hanayuri November 19, 2008 at 10:00 pm

    @ Plot & Lina..

all these are not useless complaints.
everything related with religion is a SUPER SENSITIVE matter..
whether u did it on purpose or not, u should apologize because it doesn’t offend only a person, but billions! she’s lucky that d muslims are minority in Korea, or else she’ll be dead meat.

and Plot, i dun understand what dis hv to do with the death of ppl in Africa & Iraq????

i can except that maybe jaurim didn’t know its meaning but d composer????????? where he got the azan???? damn.

  29. 29 Sheng November 19, 2008 at 10:00 pm

oh that applies to RIA also. we don’t need chill pills our prayers is more than enough. Take your own religion seriously otherwise who would if you won’t!?

  30. 30 seksiu November 19, 2008 at 10:02 pm

oh..dont know..should we called she and the song writer or who ever did this song as stupid? pls check out the meaning pls? or do some homework about song u r going to sing? this is really too much!!! this is azan…pls respect others religion…

  31. 31 hauntition November 19, 2008 at 10:03 pm

I’m a Muslim, I think it’s ignorance on their side and I must admit it’s disturbing hearing something of religious significance in an entertainment show.

  32. 32 arelynn November 19, 2008 at 10:13 pm

    is she stupid or what?
she suppose to know what should or shouldn’t do

  33. 33 Shaikha November 19, 2008 at 10:14 pm

    @Plot.

My dear why youtube? it is not forbidden to be there, it is there for the people who needs/wants it for in anyway it would help them expand their religious knowledge or uplift their faith.

  34. 34 unhappy November 19, 2008 at 10:15 pm

islam = hate. end of story.

  35. 35 hanayuri November 19, 2008 at 10:18 pm

“um, why are there muslims on this korean site? personally i cant stand their religion and could care less about what offends them. muslims are too sensitive. what will they do now, destroy the 63 building?”

@ unhappy..u should think carefully before u say that. seriously.

OMG, u made me really sad. i dunno why i feel like crying now..(actually i’m crying already)
muslim & korean are 2 different things.
    and muslims are everywhere.
visiting a korean site is nothing to do with this.
for God sake u think all muslim are terrorists?

  36. 36 Fuyu November 19, 2008 at 10:18 pm

I’m a Muslim myself and I do think that lots of Muslims are a bit too extreme about our religion to the part where they just can’t stand people talking about our religion, but they themselves aren’t really religious when it comes to praying and such.

However, I also think that using a part of Adhan when you’re not actually Muslim is a bit.. odd. But hey, Queen also used “Bismillah” in one of their songs.

  37. 37 lalala November 19, 2008 at 10:19 pm

Ria -> “Not caring is okay”
That is called ignorance babe…stop living in denial, you have to respect others too albeit their race, religion or country

Unhappy -> DO NOT stereotype muslims with people who destroyed the WTC. Educate yourself before you you throw ur own opinion.

  38. 38 Ria November 19, 2008 at 10:19 pm

By the way, Jaurim isn’t SHE or HER, it’s a group. Leave Yuna alone, she didn’t come up with the idea to put a prayer in the song, nor did any of the other members. If you don’t even know who or what Jaurim *is*, why so much vitriol towards them? If you think Allah is in heaven right now all pissed off, shaking his almighty fist, fuming mad at Jaurim, you’re probably delusional. I’m sure he has better things to do.

OH NOES, did I offend any Muslims by talking about Allah?! :( ((((( How dare I have freedom of speech!?!

  39. 39 Fuyu November 19, 2008 at 10:20 pm

Sorry, I would also love to add that not all Muslims are like that. I mean, everybody has their own good and bad. : |

  40. 40 Shyshy November 19, 2008 at 10:20 pm

    @unhappy

Sorry to know that there are really people like you. such a pity. May the guidance be with you and if your heart stuck with HATE then so sorry that you shall die with it and such sorrow and unhappy soul you will be.

  41. 41 Plot November 19, 2008 at 10:24 pm

    @ hanayuri

Death in Africa and Iraq: More important than adhan used in a song.
    Don’t cry,Ignore “unhappy”.

    @Sheng
    You talk about
respect too easily. Im not making a generality but muslims disrespect christians. True or False?

    @Shaikha.
LOL. Yeah, it’s not forbidden. It’s on a liberal site, so it could be taken as a liberal stuff. Don’t blame the manager.

  42. 42 Ria November 19, 2008 at 10:29 pm

lalala, actually, not caring is called APATHY, not knowing is called IGNORANCE. There’s a difference, thanks ;) You can know something, yet not give a crap. It helps prevent ulcers, gray hair, and unnecessary stress. Look, I can even use it in a sentence:

I am apathetic towards random Korean music producers using random lines from Islamic prayers in less than 10 seconds of a song. I am also apathetic towards random American music producers using random lines from the Bible in songs. Does that mean I love Jesus any less? Nope. It just means I won’t listen to that song. I also won’t get online and write angry letters complaining about it.

I know I’m coming off as a total bigot and racist, though I’m not. I’m just sick and tired of hearing angry Muslims! I know for a fact there are happy Muslims on this Earth, I just need to see some for proof! Make the news, happy Muslims! Do something lovely and enjoyable so it’ll get on CNN, because right now, a lot of people are thinking you guys are depressing meanies!

  43. 43 Sheng November 19, 2008 at 10:30 pm

    @Plot

FALSE my dear. THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION-(Qur-an) please know that. I have loads of friends from any other religions and we all lives in harmony. Aren’t you the one now being disrespectful to muslim?

  45. 45 hm November 19, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Wow. This entire article was about cultural insensitivity, and your comment just exemplifies that. Don’t make blanket generalizations about any group of people. This site and those like it are for EVERYONE interested in Korean music and entertainment. Diversity is the defining word for our generation…learn to embrace it.

  46. 46 shaikha November 19, 2008 at 10:41 pm

to the sisters/brothers with me in this, let us rest our case by this dua.Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahul-’Adheemul-Haleem, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu Rabbul-’Arshil-’Adheem, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu Rabbus-samaawaati wa Rabbul-’ardhi wa Rabbul-’Arshil-Kareem .ameen.

  48. 48 OH SNAP! November 19, 2008 at 10:43 pm

Who cares what the Muslims think? They are already causing enough trouble for people all over the world. They need to show the same respect to non-Muslims that they demand for themselves.

  49. 49 Plot November 19, 2008 at 10:52 pm

    No, my dear.LOL.
Your happyness with your non-muslims friends is not the same for many in the world.

  50. 50 Clara November 19, 2008 at 10:53 pm

I must say that as I’m not a Muslim or even religious at all, I can’t fully comprehend how offensive this is - but this doesn’t mean that I think Jaurim shouldn’t apologize. I think both sides need to at least try to understand the other. Perhaps Muslims should keep in mind that Jaurim and their music producers simply didn’t know about the religious significance, and others should refrain from making insulting generalizations about Muslims. Attacking the other side doesn’t help this along one bit…

  51. 51 orca1604 November 19, 2008 at 10:57 pm

hi…from my opinion when a composer or singer want to make a song they should do some research because every word in the lyric have a meaning..maybe we should do some research before blame her.but for the performance i totally not agree because the meaning of azan shows harmony and peace.if they don’t know the meaning they can ask muslims who live in korea and how they can express azan in their song.there’s no wrong to sing the azan but how we perform the song to the people.in islam when we want to other muslims know the time of prayer, we sing the azan.not just sing the azan in anyway we want, but in a proper way n tone.don’t afraid to know about islam..peace =)!!

  52. 52 my my November 19, 2008 at 10:58 pm

everything about religion is sensitive. just as simple as that. if u cant help to understand others or have some respect, please remain silence.
@ pilot, the answer is false..call me bias but Muslims will only speak out if they are being oppressed or disrespect.
@ unhappy, you are not the only one who is unhappy here.
@ ria, if u got tired listen to angry muslims, listen to calm muslims then.

all human will fight if they were seperated from their own rights.

they are so many songs out there, out of billions, why azan, which is not even a song? btw pilot, there is absolutely nothing wrong with putting azan on youtube.
if youtube is liberal, it is still not equal or strong enough to put it in the same way to azan.to compare any religion to youtube is plain ridiculous and stupid.

  53. 53 perky November 19, 2008 at 11:00 pm

    @ unhappy
I’m not even a Muslim, but i really think you’re hitting below the belt. You might not care about Muslims but what you said could affect them badly.
How can you be so cruel? I really wish you’re the only Korean who can be like that, because if there are someone else, then it’s a disgrace for the entire race. And i’m really saying, “you’re a disgrace!” seriously!
These words wouldn’t even affect you coz i guess you’re a heartless creature. Anyway, I wouldn’t care about how you feel. Also, i don’t really mind if i would offend you. Why don’t you kill yourself now? Look for a rope and hang yourself in the bathroom. hahaha…
    :P

Muslim with interest in Korean entertainment get offended by this, whereas they are watching, listenning Lee Hyori, Dong Bang Shin Ki (don’t tell me they are not popular in Malaysia, Indonesia or Singapour) nearly naked, and you are not shocked by so many lust showed off? It’s just hypocrisy…
I think reaction should be wiser than the event… But seems it’s not, cuz we even have translations of muslim pray… As Rie said, no one get offended when Bible is used in songs… I’ll add no one is shocked when a star is wearing a big cross without being Christian, or when Madonna used the Jewish tefillin in her video whereas she is tortured ( see ‘die another day’… )
You want to show the Islam is an open religion and a religion full of beautiful principles, change your way of thinking, read the Coran with other eyes.

  57. 57 who? November 19, 2008 at 11:11 pm

we Muslims always respect other religions. Have you ever seen us bashing any other religion?talking bad things about other religion? We are taught in our Holy Book (Al-Quran) to respect other religions. It pains me to see some people here making fun of my religion. Please respect others if you want others to respect you.

@Plot….people are dying in Africa and Iraq….so what have you done to help them? you thing you are helping them by spending your time bashing Islam on Popseoul here?

so they will not be in this kind of situation
and it’s better for jaurim to apologize before things get more complicated

  63. 63 eun hee November 19, 2008 at 11:33 pm

hey people all of you what are you making noise about?the problem is much more easier than this.we are not here for the disputes at first any type of art is sipposed to be amessage of love and understand and respect to all people and any artist is supposed to be asource of hapiness to the others not to arouse bad things like what we are talking about now other wise he or she is not really an artist hey may be any other thing but not hat soft smooth character.and you moslems be cofident more about your self and your religion you dont need to prove any thing to any one.

  64. 64 chakiru November 19, 2008 at 11:36 pm

    @Ria

Dude, when u said i don mean to sound offensive, i thought, oh ok. when i read what u post, it is preety offensive. u said muslim take everything seriously and all, and that maybe ‘one day’ we heard that they have fun and laughing and all, we do have fun and laugh at a pecefull country. but in the news, they show unhappy angry people is because they wan to wake up with alarm clock not bomb on their doorsteps every single day, if that happen to you, will u still be happy and not angry to the people who are responsible to what happening to you? ask your self that question.

  65. 65 seoul86 November 19, 2008 at 11:38 pm

    You too remain silence.
Because, you don’t tolerate opinions regarding your religion. Everything should be white right? Islam is the perfect religion ever, huh? When you say “oh my god’” every 5 seconds,do you know that you’re pronouncing God’s name in vain and that it’s forbidden by the holy bible?

    @ who
LOL. Im african voluntary during summer holidays. The food leaves Cameroon towards Ethiopia after girls and boys like me help to load trucks. Now I have the right to bash? Are you serious when you ask me if i ever seen a muslim bash other religion?

OHOHOHOH Hanayuri said it. It’s getting worse here. Im off.
And i am not bashing Islam btw, im giving my opinion. I am catholic and i have a worse opinion of my religion! Just to clarify things.

  69. 69 perky November 19, 2008 at 11:47 pm

    @ eun hee…
you could be right, things wouldn’t have turn out this way if only some “stupids” above did not mention things that have hurt others specially the Muslims.
Muslims just ask for apologies anyway, but those “stupids” have mentioned things that made all the fuzz here complicated.

    Maybe it’s true that some Koreans are nothing but filthy racist! (i’m not concluding yet}

  70. 70 S November 19, 2008 at 11:50 pm

    @unhappy

you know, you are being rude & mean. DOnt you have any respect for other religions? would be happy if someone insults your religion like that? Seriously just shut the f**k up.

& what the hell is wrong with muslims visiting korean websites? It’s like saying that koreans shouldnt be watching american movies and listening to american songs because they’re not american?!..what you’re saying just does not make any sense at all..

omfg. u’re such a freaking HATER.

I don’t see the point of you posting such insults. You’re just adding fuel to the fire. But too bad, a lot of people thinks that your comments are pretty low… =]

    xoxo
    you know you love me

  71. 71 sakuradxb November 19, 2008 at 11:55 pm

eun hee .. it’s not about being confident or not.. or proving anything.. this is just wrong.. we DON’T use prayer calls and Quran “holy book” in music. It’s prohibited !!!!!!

That’s why usually Muslims don’t like it when someone add such religious things to something really useless..

Plus, Muslims never talked badly about other religion or used them in their music. Our Music is something different from religion and we shouldn’t mix both of them !!

  72. 72 m.e November 19, 2008 at 11:59 pm

    pegi mampos!!!!!

  73. 73 yu jin November 20, 2008 at 12:03 am

what is this it is really disgusting and disrespecting in the sametime

  74. 74 perky November 20, 2008 at 12:03 am

Given the fact that it was not intended, then what’s so difficult about asking for apology then? That’s what Muslims want, just a respect.
When Cameron Diaz offended Peruvians just by wearing a sling bag with a Chinese character on it, she humbly apologized. She didn’t even know about that, it was not intentional but she easily accepted her fault.

  75. 75 who know November 20, 2008 at 12:10 am

i am a muslim..i think this singer is so not polite and very rude to my religion.

    RIA and PLOt
first thing what is your religion?
second are your respect other people in the real life?
third are you from other planet?
fourth are you know about islamic or other religion?…
    then answer my questions

dont bashing other religion it may cause you unpredictable accident…..
    think it deeply
    thank

  76. 76 berryberry November 20, 2008 at 12:11 am

    yeah hana
i’m kind of agree with you.We should respect each others religion.Thats the important thing in life.Human should respect each other to make peace among themselves.
I mean its not totally Jaurim’s fault to put that ‘Azan’ in the beginning of the song. She’s just doing her job.

I’m a muslim and i totally understand.Yes its true that the first time when i watched/hear it i’m kind of shocked. But come to think of it,maybe they don’t really know how important the ‘azan’ means to us.
Yes,they should do a research about it.But how do they fully understand muslim’s custom because you barely meet a muslim family in Korea.Anyway the PD should think about that too.

Also those people who thinks that muslims are too sensitive,so what if we are sensitive?I mean you guys think…if other religion kind of offending your’s,you would act the same way too right. You will be like WTF! right? Same here.Thats what we muslims felt..Its about the understanding and respect of each others religion.Have muslims ever offended or talk bad things about other religions? I don’t think so.If there is,sorry ‘cos i’m not aware of it.So I just really hope that other religions would understand. We are all humans

and sorry for the long post and also my english language. =)

  77. 77 Lina November 20, 2008 at 12:12 am

@Sheng and whoever replied to me

Well just so u know i grew up in an Islamic country..and well i know about it enough!
Respect is an important matter still i think it’s the time for Muslims to u know take it a bit easy..instead of getting offended over a Korean band using just a tiny bit of Azan…i have studied Quran as well…i’m sure there is a way to forgive ppl who did something that they didn’t know about the consequences, instead of pushing them to apologize.
Anyway i’m done here..hope i made my point!!

  78. 78 LOREN November 20, 2008 at 12:18 am

    I loveeeee jaurim <3
    yuna probably didnt now..

or maybe she didnt on purpose? ;] who knows…haha

Dont fight about religion you guys :/
its enough that there are wars over this, the young generation (equals, us) should be more respectful and understanding.

so lets group hug now, hm? ^^

muslims, koreans, white, hispanics, christians, african americans, asians, ALL OF US!

  79. 79 who? November 20, 2008 at 12:19 am

    Plot said:
“I am catholic and i have a worse opinion of my religion! Just to clarify things.”

oh, that just speak a volume about what kind of person you are. You don’t even respect your own religion, no wonder you did not respect other religion. Alhamdulillah (praise to ALLAH), Islam taught us Muslims to always respect our religion first. We never have any bad opinion about our religion because we believe in our faith. by saying you are having worse opinion about your religion, you are implicating that your religion is not perfect. why have faith in an imperfect religion then?

and before you talk about people dying in Iraq, sit back a few seconds, take a deep breath, and ask yourself…who is killing them?

  80. 80 punkovie November 20, 2008 at 12:20 am

i think they shoul ask somebody before they use the azan
    they should apologize
me as a muslim so dissapointed with what they have done…

  81. 81 Hanmi November 20, 2008 at 12:28 am

    WHAT THE HELL!
What on earth she was thinking, using a religious ritual in a stupid song just because its “COOL”!!!! I’m not saying this only because I’m a Muslim but it is outrages to have this level of DISRESPECT of other peoples’ religion and beliefs! HAVEN’T SHE HEARD OF ARABIC MUSIC !!!!!!
She just brought her reputation to the dirt… our religion will not get affected…she is nothing but a pitiful singer who had no regard to other people… no Muslim could care less if she apologized!!!! 7esabha 3end Rabnah!

  82. 82 sakuradxb November 20, 2008 at 12:39 am

The least thing we demand for is an apology. They tend to do it or not.. we can’t just say ‘it’s fine’ cause it’s not.

We don’t want to make things sound bigger than it is.. but apologizing can satisfy us as Muslims.. because it’s the least thing we can seek for when our religion is insulted.

We want the world to be aware of our religion and what to do and not to do things.. if we just let it go.. then they might repeat the same thing again and again..

So their awarness is important because it will prevent this thing from happening again.

sending them emails is the least thing to do.. here is the jaurim’s manager email (manager@jaurim.com) and this is Mnet Contact (mnetmaster@cj.net).

    Don’t you agree with me?

  83. 83 Plot November 20, 2008 at 12:41 am

Faith? perfection? where and when i talked bout that?
have i denied something about who is killing them?
And LOL. sorry to say that, but G.W.B are killing them because of oil, not because of Islam.

But i sat back, took a deep breath and even farted a little….thanks to you i realise that Islam and Christianity are not perfect. Al-Quran and Holy bible…written by mens!

    Dang…i said i was off.

  84. 84 100%Fury November 20, 2008 at 12:42 am

wth…this articles hould be removed!since everybody keep aguing!…since some ppl dont know bout islam let them talk all the way!iam not gonna say anything!but still apologize is apologize…if somebody did this to ur religious are u gonna sit back and enjoy it?i bet u ppl didt understand trully what what had u learn..AND ONE MORE THING!DONT MIX UP WHAT U CALL IT 9/11 WITH ISLAM!THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO PPL OF BOSNIA AND CRISTIAN!

  85. 85 ja syu November 20, 2008 at 12:44 am

apology is very required right now!!!!

  86. 86 hmmy November 20, 2008 at 12:48 am

well..sorry seems to be the hardest word huh?

come on! it doesnt take much effort to offer a sincere apology. just that one word can ensure peace between both parties. while it may be true that jaurim was not aware about its sensitivity, an apology is indeed necessary to show some respect to the named religious group.

    world peace people ~

  87. 87 Rin November 20, 2008 at 12:49 am

It doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not. They should apologize anyway. That’s like if you bump into somebody on the street; you should apologize whether you meant to do it or not. It’s common sense and shows that you have respect. This is just pure ignorance and stupidity (like some of these comments).

    -peace-

    Plot !!
    another mistake :P

Quran isn’t like bible. we all know that bible has been changed and written by someone right?

But Quran.. it’s God words. It came from God through his angel to our prophet. It’s hard to believe when you aren’t muslim cause this is our religion and our beliefs.

I hope you understood that part now ^^

hopefully no one would say something VERY BAD to u~
(guys plz understand what u r talking about before saying it to public)

    We call God “Allah”.

  92. 92 To: POPSEOUL November 20, 2008 at 12:59 am

Popseoul, it would be advisable if you remove this article. It not only further the argument, more sensitive issues will soon surface if this article is still up, because people have the freedom to comment at their own will and sometimes insensitively. So, it’s best if you bring down this article. Trust me, you won’t hurt your pride by doing so.

  93. 93 sakuradxb November 20, 2008 at 1:06 am

I’m against that.. It’s a good place to share our real thoughts.. I want to hear ppl opinions bad or good.. i want to hear it all.. I want evreyone to understand the basic of respecting Islam.. you don’t need to know everything.. but at least you know what to do and not to do..

Popseoul taught us to talk freely in everything. It’s a matter that is important.. but i hope Muslims or none Muslins to share their ideas in a polite way without using words that can be very sensetive.. In my case, I accept everything and i dont mind discussing it freely without limitation..

all i hope that everyone here posts reasonable replies and without hurting each other feelings :D

whoever wrote that has an opinion.. and we should respect that ^^ right?

believe me .. if we use nice, polite words.. none will fight and everyone will be heard clearly ^^

plz.. be wise enough.. you are the generation that should be wise enough to deal with the world and its problems :D

so please everyone.. i want to hear you all and i want you all to hear me as well. let’s use that statement when we reply to each other.

what a complete dumbass. oh and btw someone said muslims are causing enough trouble around the world :S like what exactly???? 911? because of one attack on the US? can you count how many attacks the US has made? oh…those attacks are legitimate? the Hiroshima bombing is enough i think. and all the fighting that you hear about the muslims is in their own country fighting occupiers. and they have every right to. anyways Jaurim is stupid and she should apologize

  99. 99 My view November 20, 2008 at 1:22 am

Why not Jaurim opening song a christian song or japanese zen or buddhist chanting song which is more related to the korean belief. She is educated, she not ignorant, there are many korean muslims and muslims living in korea, no excuse to defend her, she did it on purpose.

  100. 100 Plot November 20, 2008 at 1:24 am

  101. 101 Me! November 20, 2008 at 1:26 am

some said that Muslims are over sensitive and they take things to the extreme… it’s NOT THAT.. it just.. if we didn’t respond now.. they might do other bigger mistakes in the future… so we are not trying to make things bigger than it seems.. we just want to show that they crossed the limit!

  102. 102 sakuradxb November 20, 2008 at 1:28 am

kholoud.. i did the same ^^

why wrote under the name my view.. daaaaa~ the song is called “red carpet magic”.. where such thing can be .. of course ‘alla-adin”..etc~ so it’s more arabic oriented..~

  103. 103 sakuradxb November 20, 2008 at 1:32 am

Me! Yes, Muslims are over sensetive.. but not all of them.. but we shouldn’t say they aren’t.

We Muslims try to do is to make more awareness that Islam is a very important religion to Muslims and so whoever did something wrong for Islam, they at least should apologize. We can’t just ignore the mistake.. because it might be repeated again in the future..

so asking for apology will help the other party to understand that what they did was very sensetive to Muslims..

  104. 104 To: Khouloud November 20, 2008 at 1:33 am

honestly, replying to this blog about complaining isnt going to get ANYTHING done.

if you REALLY want to do something about it, go the mnet site of Jaurim’s fansite and complain.

You all seem pretty passionate about it, so it shouldn’t be hard to go to their site and complain right?

if youre having hard time registering or reading the korean language, go find a korean friend who can to help you.

no need to complain here, because the reps of mnet nor jaurim are going to read this blog

  110. 110 wana November 20, 2008 at 1:43 am

obviously anything regarding religions is SENSITIVE. see what you’ll do when the same thing happens to your religion.
in case you didn’t know, islam is always made fun out of by the public. there are comics published to disgrace us, videos all over youtube making false statements, which get on my nerves all the time.
and i hate the fact that people seem to associate muslims and terrorists.
and i am a muslim. it’s obvious i’m not a freaking terrorist. geez.

  111. 111 byul1232 November 20, 2008 at 1:43 am

  112. 112 Agatha November 20, 2008 at 1:49 am

    @unhappy:
Its sad to see some people put such ignorant and derogatory comments towards Muslims. Uh, newsflash to you buddy: Muslims are not limited to the middle-east and they don’t all wear turbans; They are the second largest religion in the world. If we are talking JUST East Asian countries — Indonesia, Malaysia, and China have A LOT of Muslims. China actually has more Muslims than Saudia Arabia (133 million) at 11% of their population! 95% of Indonesia & 52% of Malaysia is Muslim. Thailand has 8 million and the Philippines has 10 million, both at 14% of population. 17% of Singapore’s population is also Muslim. All these are EAST ASIAN COUNTRIES.

Get you facts straight and stop relying on biased TV and news channels to educate yourself about people, before you write such insensitive comments.
Also, who are you to say who is limited to come to this website?

  113. 113 hana November 20, 2008 at 1:52 am

    I love your comment (((( Agatha )))))

  114. 114 miracle November 20, 2008 at 2:06 am

Wow thanks everyone who is against her doing that. I’m a Muslim and for the first time I’m really really mad at someone in the kpop industry……wow I don’t even know what to say

  115. 115 deemo November 20, 2008 at 2:10 am

wait wait.. ok. I’m not religous cause one thing, people take religion too seriously. thats why they are so defensive bout their own religion.. I think its not the group themselves who wanted to put that prayer thing into the song. maybe it was the music director. besides, isnt it a free country in korea?
or maybe when it comes to religion its offensive. but seriously, i think its just a song, a performance. No need to get angry. if it promotes islam, so be it.
I think its like the world is too serious with everything.
Its quite weird that religion forces people to believe that they shouldnt do this or that, or whatever. If i’m not wrong, non muslims cannot even touch the quran? its a sin? whose the person who said its a sin, there is no proof.
if they say “Allah” then they are just one of billions of religious people. but i believe humans should have the freedom of doing whatever they want and not be coerced into believing something. It should be freedom of choice!

  116. 116 Jung HyeHoon November 20, 2008 at 2:14 am

“Al-Quran and Holy bible…written by mens!”

Holy Quran is definitely from Allah as well as Torah & Bible, the only difference is that Allah preserved his Holy book Al-Quran from alteration, which have happened to Bible & Torah.
It would be a waste to explain cause you are not ready to accept what we would say, will whatever makes you happy!! i couldn’t care less about someone who wouldn’t care less either.
However, you must know this.. if you ever had the chance to truly learn and understand the Holy Quran you would simply realize that nowhere on earth this Holy book could have been written by a man!! nor a bunch of them. NO WAY!!

To be honest i don’t care if they apologize or not, i mean it’s getting ridiculous. Whenever they wrong us we demand an apology.
All i’m gonna say is “hasbuna Allah wa ne’em al wakeel”
to tell you the truth whenever anyone makes fun of my religion or try to offend, i try to remember that my religion is not paper thin to get offended or disgraced by what ignorant people do, i also realize that i can’t just stand still doing nothing, but remeber there are many ways we can help our religion and make it proud of us, one way is by simply being a good Muslim which i know i’m far away from that!! but i will always try to get closer to it.

another pleasant idea that occurs to me is “judgement day” i’m sure you all heard of it! well, on that day everything is exposed and made known and nothing is a puzzle anymore!

so one way or another you will swallow your words, how do i know?! because i simply believe!! and i’m sure i do have the freedom to believe in whatever i want!
so do you!! end of the subject.

  117. 117 100%Fury November 20, 2008 at 2:15 am

  118. 118 dem0n November 20, 2008 at 2:18 am

regardless of what everyone just said………

since when do composers use words they don’t know their meanings in their music!!!!!!!! really! D8

they could have used any Arabic word (non-religious) that would have sound beautifully with the show.

and I don’t see it as a disrespect, it’s just ignorance.

  119. 119 bleach16 November 20, 2008 at 2:18 am

Thanks to all of you for understanding this. I’m a Muslim and this makes me feel…speechless. When i was about to watch the part in the video showing it…my heart started beating faster…it makes me feel so sad. I cant believe this. I’ve taken a liking to kpop and stuff but this seems… unbelievable. I’m not gonna blame it on her because i dont know the exact circumstances of this music coming about but I do hope that who ever did this will apologize or at least know that they’ve done something…really offending and they’ve made a mistake.

  120. 120 akh November 20, 2008 at 2:19 am

    @ plot, lina & ria,

not apologizing is actually OK. but IF jaurim have manners, they should show some respect after making mistakes (wether they know or not that it is adzan).

i live in malaysia and i know how muslims are. they are happy people, just like us. they have fun at school, go to funfair and all. they are cool. and them to be here just show that they have live like us, watching korean drama and all. it was just the mass propaganda that only know to show the extremist.

  121. 121 april November 20, 2008 at 2:35 am

i didn’t know many muslims read this blog. hehe. i’m a muslim too. i hope they do apologize. maybe they didn’t know it was an adzan, but it is more polite to apologize. and it wont hurt to say sorry, rite? and, maybe they have muslim fans too. i mean, it must be shock for me if DBSK were the one who did this.. uUuUu~

  122. 122 deemo November 20, 2008 at 2:35 am

imagine. just imagine if the world did not have any religion. we wont be here even discussing any of this! i wished our world had freedom of speech.
I think the group didnt know that it was “wrong” to use a religious line. but you know what, people are too sensitive sometimes cause they believe too much in their religion.
im not saying its a bad thing.
the best thing is to be free from all religions. in fact, i only believe in people. does god(whichever one u prefer) control us? or we control ourselves? the world right now is no doubt in a bad situation. how did terrorists arise in the first place? they use islam as an excuse for bombing stuff. Terrorist changed the rule so that they could hurt others. They arent the majority of muslims around the world so i dont think its right to directly link Islamic values to the stupid terrorists.

  123. 123 ayay November 20, 2008 at 2:39 am

it seems that you don’t even read a lot about this religion
I’m not trying to be offensive to you but some of ur arguments are annoying me so much

  124. 124 juile November 20, 2008 at 2:49 am

everybody go study islam first most people judge islam by looking in the face of it not searching in the deep meaning

if you dont care if your own faith used in bad way this your business but to me my faith is my identiy my way of live if insult you inslut me nobody would like to be insult it this group is first who uses Azan in their songs if Ipost this video in youtube and said korean group inslut islam Iwill create big problem for this group over million muslim around the world will watch this video it same when they inslut our messanger Mohammed peace be upon him it weird korea banned songs that that sexy meaning but when it come to insult other people faith is another thing

this our duty to protect our faith in peacful way

  125. 125 Jewels November 20, 2008 at 2:52 am

  126. 126 Jung HyeHoon November 20, 2008 at 2:56 am

at people who comment that the world is just too serious and we need to take a chill pill and whatever..
i think the world has been silly and meaningless enough,, we were given brains to think with it,, no to put it on freeze,, that’s what you do when you are too relaxed and taking a chill pill..
get it right,, people are serious because it is a serious matter!! we are not in the middle of a comedy movie,, so what’s wrong in being serious?!
if we were serious during a comedy than you should start worrying don’t you think?!
so please enough of the seriousness comments cause this is serious!!

we Islamic people suffered a lot!
we were made fun of and they insulted us..

hella, you people are so wrong bout Islam..

“imagine. just imagine if the world did not have any religion. we wont be here even discussing any of this!”

i imagined… and i was frightened!! thank GOD for Islam,, thank GOD for religions..

without my religion my life would have been impty,, and my living would be purposeless and my existence meaningless..

religions arguing is just a minor problem,, if they didn’t exist we would have been in bigger problems..

there would be no point of us being humans and having minds,, animals are even better than that!!

do you think that these religions always existed?! no they didn’t..
and do you know what people did?! they wanted them and prayed for them, that’s why you see so many religions.. you know that they weren’t there out of the blue!!

that’s just my freedom of speech,, Thank you Allah for creating me a Muslim!! “alhamdulillah”
