You’d think after his 2-year musical comeback, SBS cold-dissing his song and THEN on stage, that he might be rewarded for his efforts, but noooo, he wasn’t.
The 10th Anniversary of the Mnet KM Music Festival could have at least invented an award like, “Most Welcomed Back Artist” or “Best Chicken Breasts” or some other ‘creative” award that they like to invent.
The real reason why Rain did not qualify for an award was because has been out of the pop scene with his Hollywood movie making. Besides, his comeback was timed for October of this year. A bit late to qualify.
Maybe next year! We look forward to more chicken breast flashing from you.

DBSK won album of the year and they weren’t even around for the whole year, so it wasn’t impossible for Rain to win something. It’s just that, groups dominated this year and I find it quite unfortunate. We need more soloists like Rain. IMO he had the best performance at MKMF. He’ll win some stuff next year.

Actually, the reason for him not getting nominated this year was because the cutoff date for the awards was October 14th. His album came out on October 15th.
Unfortunately they do have to cut it off somewhere (which I think was their plan).

Camera angles and lighting play a huge part in how he looks. It’s obvious by many of the candid photos of him that Rain is more lean then truly built. He’s obviously in great shape, but there’s only so much a guy with Rain’s willowy frame can do without using illegal substances.
I’m not the biggest Rain fan, but I’ll give him credit. He tries to get the most out of what he has and in an honest way.

At least I wish Rain should get some special awards too, but think again he has been contributed to the dramas and movies much more than the music industry. They already valued hin enough to put his perf as the last one.

It was clearly stated that MK Music Festival’s cutoff date was October 14th and his album was marketed a day later or thereafter. Whether it was a strategic plan on the part of JTunes’ camp or not, we shall see next year if Rain will garner all the awards that was accorded to him. At the rate of his popularity, his wonderful performance, not to mention the beautifully choreographed songs and MVs, I think he has big chances to go home with awards next year. He gave a spectacular performance, I heard that even his fellow artists gave him a standing ovation. That only shows that they respect and believe in Rain’s talents. Suffice it to say, that regardless of what props he used, costumes he wore, adult- themed songs he sang, and overrated dance movements he performed were all part of his act. I think that was what makes him different and unique from other male Korean performers. Hey!!For Rain that’s ” showtime” and he gives it all 100%.

okaaay..i’ve finally been able to hear his whole new album..and i’ve got to say that it’s pretty good..well, at least it surpassed my expectation..lol, not dat i had sucha high expectation from the start, considering he just got out from JYP ent and made a comeback from J-tune..
he still hv star power and i wish him the best of luck in korea..! and about not winning anything, it’s really is a competitive year for k-pop..i’m not dat dissapointed dat he didnt win anything..in fact, all the awards went to its rightful owners in my opinion..i hv nothing to complain for this recent MKMF

Anyhow… Yeah, he did an amazing job with his performance, but as everyone had already stated, he wasn’t even qualified, so there’s no point in being upset over it, for the album category.
I personally don’t think Rain has outstanding talent; rather, he works immensely hard for what he gets, and that’s what I appreciate most about this man. He himself said that nothing came easy to him in singing or music, since he was basically clueless when he started (as he had no background in music, a vast contradiction to someone like Eru, who has a ultra-famous singer daddy). JYP also mentioned in Rain’s documentary that he saw no talent in him, but saw his fierceness and his craving to work hard for success.
And really, in the entertainment industry, talent eventually gets passed by hard work; most top singers in Korea right now are more hard-workers than really “talented” people, and while a lot of people get really upset and dismayed that the true talents aren’t getting as much limelight, I think it’s also a good work-ethic-success pattern that’s been going on (of course… sleeping with your manager for certain females… I’ll leave that to you to decide if you want to think of that as hard work or not… XD)
DBSK was away for basically 2 years and they got 4 awards…..poor Rain.

The TVXQ boys actually pulled a fast one and came back to Korea very infrequently within the 2 years, so that they would technically not count as having been “completely absent”. They released small-scale songs/activities in lieu with “Travel Log”, “Purple Line”, and various activities on SM Town projects.
But yes, on the whole, they were pretty much absent. But the reason why they got the Best Album award while Rain didn’t is pretty clear; Rain missed the deadline by a day, so it’s not really a debatable topic.
If it’s regarding the other awards… Well, I suppose that would come down to fanbase, popularity, respect, loyalty, music… all sorts of things.
