American actor/comedian Ben Stiller and Chris Rock landed in Korea to promote their new movie, “Madagascar 2″ at the Shilla Hotel on November 19th.

In the Q&A session, Chris Rock announced that he is happy that Bush is no longer President and happy that Barack Obama is the new President. In response to the question of who would be the perfect actor if there was a movie about Obama, Chris replied with “Will Smith.”

How nice of these Hollywood people to visit us here in Korea….

  5. 5 otto November 20, 2008 at 4:31 am

kinda unusual they’d fly over just to plug an animation film. didn’t do this in the old days (pre-economy bust? :D )

  6. 6 Jung HyeHoon November 20, 2008 at 4:31 am

    correction!! forth ><

  7. 7 otto November 20, 2008 at 4:33 am

they should pick a smaller non-star for obama - all the big ones have a set image too different. like brolin is not big star but fits dancing monkey dubya with his acting talent.

  8. 8 hay hay November 20, 2008 at 4:40 am

How does the presidential campaign relate to the movie itself? They came all the way to Korea just to talk about that? What a stupid question. Anywho, Denzel Washington would be my vote.

Popseoul, don’t be so naive! They just want your money. After Japan, Korea is the second biggest market for Hollywood and that’s why these stars are showing up there. Asia is soon going to become the biggest market and I want Hollywood to cast some Asian stars in their movies. We Asians should demand it instead of hero worshiping and feeling so grateful.

  11. 11 palki November 20, 2008 at 5:56 am

Obama has made history…..that’s why we are talking about him. He’s made me fall in love with America again.

  12. 12 palki November 20, 2008 at 5:58 am

oh I forgot to say I love Chris Rock. The smartest funniest man in the US.

  13. 13 palki November 20, 2008 at 6:00 am

I can’t stand Ben Stiller. I know someone he made a pass at and he had just been married a few months! What a sleaze bag!

  14. 14 candis November 20, 2008 at 6:27 am

    ^
oh hush with your nonsense. you dont deserve nothing with asians being cast anywhere. that is like complaining about black people getting killed first in scary movies.

  15. 15 lalala November 20, 2008 at 6:41 am

I can’t believe no one has pointed this out yet. The President-elect is Barack Obama NOT Barrack Obama.

    Also, it’s “if there was a movie….”

  16. 16 rza November 20, 2008 at 7:01 am

I guess this is worth news >.> I don’t see how, though.

  17. 17 Taejus November 20, 2008 at 7:16 am

  19. 19 HAHAHA November 20, 2008 at 7:49 am

a lot of koreans i know supported Obama and a lot of koreans also supported Mccain. it was half and half really

  20. 20 Sharurotto November 20, 2008 at 8:04 am

Hahah Chris Rock is genius…second only to Stephen Colbert, lol…and Ben Stiller is a cutie :p

Hmm Will Smith…well Will Smith is certainly a talented actor and he looks the part…he can pull off any role - comedic, serious, sad…

  21. 21 Ria November 20, 2008 at 8:39 am

FYI, Barack isn’t black, he’s biracial, thanks. I could just as easily say he’s white.

ANYWAY, it’s good to see these guys together, period, let alone in Korea! How awesome ^^

  22. 22 rainonmebi November 20, 2008 at 8:44 am

    @dramaaddict

not true at all. if they wanted a better lead they could easily contact denzel washington.

if you watch anything online, EVERY celebrity when asked who would make a good obama, they all said Will smith. so he wasn’t joke.

and of course its will, since the days of fresh prince will has been THE man!!!

  23. 23 rainonmebi November 20, 2008 at 8:46 am

    @candis

    lol its true though!!! hahaha

  24. 24 Dovey November 20, 2008 at 9:09 am

Will Smith? Hmmm, now that I am thinking about it, I’d think Will wouldn’t do a bad job.

  25. 25 sweet_nipples November 20, 2008 at 9:40 am

the show is quite nice..just watch it yesterday. The penguins are adorable and so is the granny..haha..one tough chick.

  26. 26 Carrie November 20, 2008 at 10:13 am

That’s great, yeah, spell the name of our President-elect wrong. Are we kidding?

  27. 27 candis November 20, 2008 at 10:17 am

    @ria
because barack is biracial dont mean you can call him white. not at all. there is a law and rule still in effect. if you got one drop of blood in you that is of a black person no mattter if you are half white or whatever it may be. you will be called black. those rules i been told was used during slavery times. even if the person looked white the white person would be like the mother is black that is not a white person.

  28. 28 blahblahbon November 20, 2008 at 10:28 am

I´m glad you put that “…” at the end there, I´m thinking the same thing.

  29. 29 blahblahbon November 20, 2008 at 10:33 am

@CANDIS “those rules i been told was used during slavery times.”

Soooo… Since black people were said to be inferior during the slavery times, does that mean it´s true nowadays? Uhhh.. I don´t think so? Re-phrase what you just said.

  30. 30 candis November 20, 2008 at 10:39 am

well for your info people still uses those rules now

  31. 31 hello November 20, 2008 at 10:41 am

what law and rule are you talking about? obama is half white and half black and everyone knows that. people are just saying he’s the first black president because he’s the first american president that’s not full white.

  32. 32 candis November 20, 2008 at 10:44 am

well these rules are used alot. there are many people who are half white half black. they always will say for the most part that they are black. they would not like you saying they are white when they consider theirselves black.

  33. 33 Ladoftern November 20, 2008 at 10:47 am

wow…its def called the one-drop rule, one drop of blood that is black makes you a black person….didn’t you guys take history…ppl only call it to question now since so many ppl are mixed but it’s still the rule, ask any mixed person whats on their BC and it will say black…not b/c the parents did rock paper sicssors but b/c thats the law.

  34. 34 candis November 20, 2008 at 10:51 am

    ^ladoftern
yes thank you for knowing what i am talking about.

  35. 35 otto November 20, 2008 at 11:13 am

one drop rule is usually taught in terms of its racist mentality. the “rule” is made by the white males in power, to keep “racial purity” for the white race. any drop of non-white blood make you “impure”. all of which is friggin nasty nonsense. mixed people take on “black” identity for various reasons, and many of them want to be proud of their dominant trait, not be ashamed because white men in history told them so.

  36. 36 leokay November 20, 2008 at 11:29 am

hell yeah we’re glad bush is no longer president. obama!!!

  37. 37 sovereign November 20, 2008 at 11:43 am

Yes yes, he made history but I think this is the problem with America. You fight and bicker over the guy’s race and in the end it’s not going to matter. He has taken up the mantle of the president of the United States of America and if he can’t run this country the right way then he would be discriminated just as harshly as Bush was, and only time will tell.

  38. 38 Korean Ajusshi November 20, 2008 at 12:29 pm

Koreans shouldn’t patronize Hollywood movies anymore unless Americans patronize Korean movies. Some more equal reciprocity is long overdue between the two countries with their cinemas.

  39. 39 Grasshopper November 20, 2008 at 1:27 pm

Will Ben Stiller and Chris Rock be the voice actors for the Korean release of the movie? If not, why are they promoting it in Korea if no one will actually hear their acting? I’m sorry, I’ve never thought about the voice overs when an American animation is release in another country,so I’m a little confused.

I also agree with your statement Korean Ajusshi.

OH, BTW I don’t think the one drop rule really applies anymore. Barack Obama is considered African American because that’s how he identifies himself, same with Hallie Berry. They look in the mirror and decide, “This is who I am”.

  40. 40 crypticbluerose November 20, 2008 at 2:01 pm

    will smith? lol
cuz of the ears? haha I think that’s why he said it. :)

  41. 41 Lex November 20, 2008 at 2:21 pm

bahhhh politics even in entertainment site… as much as i admit that i am stuck to the tv and watching the news for countless of hours… especially the time for the presidential candidates to be elected in the US.
Anyways, I still believe that race or colour does not matter, as long as the president (or going to be) knows what they are doing and wont screw up big time. So im really sick and tired of hearing people say go black or white or yellow or what ever friggin race u have cuz it has no conncetion to ruling the country at ALL
Values, morals, knowledge and etc –> are big factors that one should look at in a president regardless of what race that person is.
On that note, GO BUSH! So HA! ( sorry but no one really has the right to judge him… and i kinda felt bad for him since everyone is bashing him x.x)

Btw… its a little odd that they would just go there in korea and promote the movie… even though ( a big hunch) that the one doing the voicing would be a korean voice actor? well, i suppose that hollywood can be influencial especially on Asia but -sheesh- isnt it a little bit late for that promotion? I believe that Madagascar 2 is already showing on theathres?

  42. 42 Lex November 20, 2008 at 2:23 pm

    *theatres

  43. 43 Sue November 20, 2008 at 4:15 pm
