Ha Ji-won gets free trips to New Zealand

Hajiwon_1120_5

How? By being appointed as the “New Zealand Cultural Ambassador.”

In a country known for having more sheep than people, Ha Ji-won spent some time studying in New Zealand back in 2005 and was also a promoter for the New Zealand Film Festival. The actress was officially appointed on November 19th at the Grand Hyatt in Namsan.

Does this come with citizenship as well?

    congrats ji won! she’s still looking as pretty as ever. good luck to her.

  19. 19 Korean Ajusshi November 22, 2008 at 11:19 pm

    “NZ Cultural Ambassador”? It should be “Korean Cultural Ambassador”, instead, since she’s representing to promote Korean culture in NZ (more like the profitable Korean entertainments rather than traditional Korean culture). And, no, she won’t automatically get a NZ citizenship with the appointment, although it won’t be hard to get if she really wanted it. Why would she want to become a NZ citizen anyway? From my understanding NZ is still pretty racist towards Asians, especially with the growing xenophobia due to the recent influx of Asians. Of course, with a growing number of crimes and other social problems committed by the Chinese who make up the overwhelming majority of Asians, I can sort of understand why the Kiwis would be repulsed.

  20. 20 Trannguyen November 22, 2008 at 11:45 pm

    I notice one thing. She has the same dress like Han Ji Hye wear before.

  21. 21 Tracy November 23, 2008 at 12:02 am

  32. 32 rhey November 23, 2008 at 8:28 am

    …she’s probably promoting for NZ that’s why the title and that lady beside her…

  33. 33 apple November 23, 2008 at 9:16 am

    Korean Ajusshi, the social ‘problems’ and crime committed by Asian immigrants are ridiculously hyped by the media, as immigration (particularly Asian immigration) is a controversial subject.
    In reality, people of Asian descent the least likely to commit crime in New Zealand.
    I think social difficulties arise due to cultural misunderstandings on both sides; it’s certainly no one’s fault.

  38. 38 Diana November 23, 2008 at 1:09 pm

    Ha Ji-won is a great talent, the lady next to her is not ugly, she looks bad because she’s standing next to the very attractive Ji-won..some of you are so shallow.

    semantics;
    Think twice before you make a statement about grammar and spelling, you don’t capitalize your sentences, the nations or even your nickname. The tone of your messages certainly give off hateful vibes, so don’t get defensive.

    leilani; you can watch it on Aznv.tv, it’s free but you need an invite to join, I can send you one if you want.

  39. 39 cl November 23, 2008 at 3:22 pm

    that post about her plastic mess was freaky.
    seems like her eyes “improved”

  40. 40 semantics November 23, 2008 at 5:29 pm

    @diana
    I’ll say what I like
    Type how I like
    Spell how I like
    & USE CAPITAL LETTERS HOW I LIKE
    I’m not writing a freakin essay -__-

    you know why because it’s the internet no one listens to D##ks like you who play “perfect” sitting behind a computer just like everybody else here.
    hateful vibes? deal with it because in the real world if you said that to someone in the street you’d get your a## knocked out.
    BTW when did I make a statement about grammar & spelling.
    Stay in school or go back.

  41. 41 Diana November 23, 2008 at 5:49 pm

    Really? it seems to me that if you went out in the streets with YOUR attitude you’d get your a$$ kicked much quicker and not to mention worse.. don’t forget that it was you who fired the first shot, if it wasn’t me, someone else would have stepped in to correct the trollish behavior. I can’t judge you as a person since I don’t know your background, I just hope you drop any anger or prejudice (IF you have any).
    I’m out!

  42. 42 monalisa November 23, 2008 at 6:01 pm

    Heard how beautiful New Zealand is. Wish I could holiday there someday.

  43. 43 olivia18888 November 23, 2008 at 6:24 pm

    @semantics
    no, we dont think u phuck sheep… we just have a problem with your sporting teams and their bloody hakkas.

  44. 44 Semantics November 23, 2008 at 6:42 pm

    @Diana lol really?
    anyways peace since you seem like a decent person & I can’t judge you either.

    @olivia18888
    Are you living in a cave?
    I have read several books by Australian comedians and every single one of them had at least 3 jokes about Kiwis & sheep..
    So you got a problem with the All Blacks the Haka, deal with cause both of them aren’t going away anytime soon.

  45. 45 Mary3lucky November 23, 2008 at 10:31 pm

    Hahahahahaha,name 3 of those oz comedian..
    I don’t understand why on earth there’s no fair treatment being an asian in other countries??? Is it because we’re more productive and able to perform multiple task in a job? or in other words asian’s are really capable of something ????
    I’m proud being a citizen of Australia,coz they can’t treat us like a bull….’coz I believed,this is the country of having a “fair go”to everyone…
    New Zealand is our neighbor country but never been there but
    it’s true there’s no place at peace and quite these days….

  50. 50 Reebuh November 25, 2008 at 3:44 am

    Sheesh! The comments here are so intense…calm down people!

  51. 51 mishmash November 25, 2008 at 11:26 am

    C’mon, I lived in Auckland,NZ is a rather quiet place but there’s always something to do if you look hard enough. I admit though, the asian population is rather high in Auckland but I think its rather unfair when they call it an “Asian Invasion”. Some people see all the asian faces and think these folks are gonna take over the country - be realistic, most of them are students or there for work purposes only and not permanent residents/citizens.

    Yesh - i miss mission bay too.
