How can anyone forget the chemistry and drama that went on between Kim Jong-kook and Yoon Eun Hye during SBS‘ Xman in 2005? Many fans knew that the romance was scripted, but they couldn’t deny that the chemistry between the two was very tangible. During that time, both denied any allegations that they were dating. However, this just left fans even more curious of about relationship.
On the December 3, 2008 airing of KBS‘ Golden Fishery, Kim Jong-kook coyly admited to MC Kang Ho -dong the truth about their relationship- yes, they did go out.
So does this mean that Chae Yeon has a chance now?

[스 포츠서울] X맨은 시청률 효자다. 심리추리 버라이어티 프로그램을 표방한 ‘‘X맨을 찾아라’(이하 ‘X맨’) 코너는 SBS ‘일요일이 좋다’가 평균 시청률 20％대를 유지하는데 결정적인 역할을 하고 있다. 지난 2003년 11월9일 첫 방송을 한 ‘X맨’(장혁재 연출)은 학창시절 야유회에서 한번쯤 했을 ‘도둑잡기’ 게임을 응용한 코너다. 정체를 감춘 X맨을 찾아낸다는 설정 아래 출연 연예인들이 다양한 게임을 하면서 추리와 심리전을 펼치는 잔재미가 시청 포인트다. 몸풀기 및 단체 게임, ‘당연하지’와 ‘커플장사 만만세’ 코너 등으로 구성된 ‘X맨’의 제작 뒷얘기와 인기 비결 등을 짚어봤다.
◇13시간 논스톱 촬영！
‘X 맨’은 경기도 일산의 SBS탄현제작센터 내 스튜디오에서 월요일(격주 녹화) 오후 1시부터 다음날 새벽 2시까지 촬영된다. 때문에 간혹 녹화 중에 잠깐 눈을 붙이는 출연자도 나온다. 장혁재 PD는 “밤늦게까지 게임을 해야하기 때문에 체력이 달리는 경우가 있다. 그래서 특히 안전사고에 각별히 신경을 쓴다. 녹화에 들어가기 전 출연 연예인들에게 야유회에서 하루 잘 놀다간다는 기분으로 임해달라고 부탁한다”고 말했다.
◇대본없는 건 당연하지！
X맨의 실체는 메인 MC 유재석도 모른다. 방송 초기에는 제작진이 유재석에게 슬쩍 귀띔해줬다. 하지만, 유재석이 “프로그램의 재미가 반감될 수 있다”며 귀를 닫아버렸다. ‘X맨’은 기본적으로 대본없이 진행된다. 대신 녹화 현장에 작가 5명이 항상 대기해 그때 그때의 프로그램 방향을 메모로 출연진들에게 일러준다. 현장감을 최대한 살리면서 출연자들이 부담을 느끼지 않고, 자연스럽게 녹화를 진행하기 위해서다.
‘당 연하지’ 코너도 미리 짜여진 대본은 없다. 작가들이 강호동 팀, 박경림 팀 소속 출연자들에게 서로 상대편 연예인들에 관한 기본 정보를 제공해주고, 이를 토대로 출연자들이 ‘당연하지’의 대본을 즉석에서 만들어낸다. ‘X맨’이 낳은 김종국-윤은혜 커플도 각본에 의한 것이 아니라 자연스럽게 맺어진 경우다. 두 사람은 1년 넘게 이 코너의 고정 출연자로 활약했다가 잠시 헤어졌고, 지난해 7월 김종국이 파타야 특집 편으로 복귀한 것을 계기로 누가 먼저라고 할 것도 없이 X맨의 공식 커플이 됐다.
◇삼박자의 조화！
‘X 맨’의 첫번째 인기 비결은 유재석, 강호동, 박경림 등 MC들의 조화에 있다. 유재석은 출연자들의 기를 살려주면서 매끄럽게 프로그램을 이끌어간다. 강호동의 힘은 카리스마의 상징이고 ‘마당발’ 박경림은 폭넓은 친화력으로 양념 구실을 톡톡히 한다. 현장에서 출연진들과 항상 호흡을 같이 하는 PD와 작가들의 공도 빼놓을 수 없다. 스스럼없이 망가져(?) 주면서 프로그램 자체를 즐길 줄 아는 ‘하명국’ 트리오(하하, 박명수, 김종국) 등 출연자들의 헌신적인 노력도 ‘X맨’의 인기 원동력 가운데 하나다.
