Text message confirms Lee Jae-won is not a Rapist

rape_081224

Is that even confirmation?

But the bigger questions is : what kind of trainee is “Kim” (the girl who sued Lee Jae Won for rape)? What kind of trainee drinks till she vomits in front of two managers and her sunbae?

Obviously she does.

The girl revoked the lawsuit after she heard the full story from both managers and Lee Jae Won. He in fact did not rape her. Rather, he and the manager took her to the motel since they did not know where she lived and did not have a jacket with her since they had to wash off her vomit.

Ok. So does this mean no jacket = rape? In such a conservative society like Korea, the accusation of rape is huge. And if this girl really thinks that she was raped, then isn’t that what happened?

However, the trainee did not release a public statement regarding the matter. Instead, she sent a text message to Lee Jae Won’s company expressing her apologies as well as her hope that this issue would not effect the company nor his solo activities. In the apology text message, she said that those who left the night before played a prank on her. Wouldn’t that have been Lee Jae Won and the manager? But according to them they just washed her jacket and left (uh huh).

Yah right.

Something smells fishy. First. What is a young 20-something girl doing alone with 3 ajusshis and drinking until she is drunk? That is totally irresponsible. Second, how can a single text message take back such strong accusations? If she had released a statement to the press or police, then I would think it’s a mistake, but a text? That’s even worse than breaking up with someone via SMS.
What do you think? Truth or coverup?

    @ yeddy

By far your comment is the most disgusting one. Grow up…don’t know how in the world someone can joke about something so serious.

    ——————————-

The story is getting confusing especially with all these new details being added, which are just distorting the original story instead of backing up it.

Rape is a serious and immoral sin. If the girl was truly as drunk as they are making it out to be then I personally see this as a case of rape. If the person is unconscious then they aren’t able to say YES or NO, ergo how can it be mutual?

But if she tried to use her rape as an excuse to get money of him then it’s a shame. She should have gotten him convicted to teach ajusshis a lesson about taking advantage of young girls NOT make a business deal out her rape.

    @Editor

I totally agree with your post.

    Korea has a drinking culture.

    Friends drinks with each other.

    Coworkers drink with each other.

It is expected of subordinates to drink with their sunbae-nims. So don’t blame the girl for drinking.

    @Constructive Critic and Editor:

Bingo. That’s the big problem. Korea hasn’t had any substantial social development for women or minorities groups, period. I don’t know when social progress will occur, but I hope, for the sake of the Korean people, that it will happen soon. Discrimination against homosexuals…still a problem. Discrimination about ethnic minorities in schools…still a problem. Discrimination against women and the objectifying of women by men…still a problem.

Glad I’m back in the States…it was a sad sight to see everyday when I was there.

Your posts are both original and funny, however the funny parts aren’t that original, and the original parts aren’t that funny.

i think he’s innocent…and that she is an idiot for getting drunk like that with 3 older guys who she apparently didnt trust very much to begin with.

  12. 12 rawr December 28, 2008 at 8:33 am

agree about the fan culture. it’s annoying reading all the she’s a whore or idiot.

  13. 13 Refreshe December 28, 2008 at 8:39 am

I’m utterly confused now but I won’t be making a judgment on any of the parties until I know the whole truth (which is likely never going to happen).

  14. 14 hanafimamat December 28, 2008 at 9:25 am

consensual sex or rape.both are to achieve satisfaction.one of them is bad.in this case there can only be one truth.seek justice if they want to.but all over the world good dollars killed justice.

  16. 16 One Day December 28, 2008 at 10:46 am

This is more likely a cover-up. Who would take a young girl to a motel just to have her jacket washed rather than taking her to her house?

  17. 17 otto December 28, 2008 at 11:34 am

i believe hanafimamat is our man to write the official rap song for “The Rape Case of Lee Jae Won”.

  18. 18 Lildestiny December 28, 2008 at 11:45 am

    Dear Popseoul,

    Your authors are terrible writers.

    Your posts are never positive.

    You like to nitpick.

Most of the time you are wrong.

    Literally going down the drain.

  22. 22 asianromance December 28, 2008 at 2:47 pm

seriously- wouldn’t you be able to tell if you were raped. There would be pain from forced entry. and didn’t Lee Jae won acknowledged they had sex? so this means that he had sex with her while she was too drunk to say no- which is considered rape in the US. However, it might be different in Korea. I seriously think this is a cover-up. She’s a nobody and he’s Lee Jae-won. This post says they had washed her jacket and left. In your previous post, Lee Jae Won had admitted that he had sex with her but it was mutual. But even sadder, he might have convinced her that it wasn’t rape. This is one of the murky situations that gets debated in court for months- at exactly what point was she too impaired to consent. And then, did she consent before she was impaired? And does that consent count when she entered the too-impaired zone? All he had to say was “no, really. you really did say we could have sex remember…we were in the hotel…i asked you and you nodded and jumped on me”…but what really happened was that she fell on him before she was too drunk to sit still..etc…etc. and she really remembers falling on him and he tricks her into convincing herself that she really did come onto him… people see what they’re told to see sometimes. or maybe he was confused too. maybe he thought she was less impaired that she really was and really thought she consented.

and since she’s a trainee-wouldn’t a quick phone call find her destination? how about looking through her cell phone to get a gal-pal to pick her up? seriously, this isn’t like the 1950s. communication and info are at your fingertips.

but i can also say that there is a slim chance that this is a conspiracy against Lee Jae Won. We can only speculate what really happened. but more evidence mounts against Lee Jae Won.

and this part: “In such a conservative society like Korea, the accusation of rape is huge. And if this girl really thinks that she was raped, then isn’t that what happened?” –> yes it’s huge for the girl cuz she’s admitting that she and the guy had sex even if it’s was forced and without her consent. But then again, in such a conservative society like Korea, the girls who do get raped are frowned upon. they’re considered soiled doves and some would even speculate that it was the woman’s fault- that she was drunk…too tempting and seductive and of course, men wouldn’t be able to keep their dicks in their pants where they belong.

  23. 23 its probably just to get publicity December 28, 2008 at 3:01 pm

yeah it sounds all stupid maybe its just to get publicity and after all shes a trainee maybe she wants to be known before she makes it big so that people will give listen to her knowing that she was in the news

If I were a decent girl, I wouldn’t go out with 3 guys, let alone drink with them. If I went out w/ 3 guys, I wouldn’t get drunk coz I know I’ll be in trouble. The girl must be an idiot to be out with them and get stupidly drunk to boot so that in the end she cries rape. Now who would have believed her in the first place.

AGREED. to all those who said that she was stupid enough to drink with 3 ajusshi’s … well i think it was normal.
&& it is sooooo obvious that it’s just a cover up .
she’s a trainee … maybe she was blackmailed or something.

  35. 36 evan January 1, 2009 at 4:11 pm

He prob. raped her but then shoved money in her face to cover it up, so then she backed out. Typical when you have the money
