[New Music] Se7en should be “Taken Back” to Korea

Se7en_090116

Se7en’s 2nd single, “No taking back” is floating around the internet. And although, I would like to support our fellow Korean in the difficult time of trying to “make it” in the States, the song is plain ol’ weak sauce. It’s pasta without the sauce. It’s bread without butter. It’s…. you get the picture. Se7en’s monotone just doesn’t have the oompha loompa that’s needed to make people start shaking their booty on the dance floor. Basically, what’s missing is soul…

Se7en should get someone else to feature in the song to add the oompha loompa… what about Amerie?

It’s my sister. You got a point?
She is just voicing her opinions and just doesn’t want me to fight in here. Same as us voicing our opinions.
Calling Boa a whore show what kind of person you are.
Making it onto top Itunes list is a lot. Getting her name out there is also a lot. Unlike se7en who has been in the states longer, but hasn’t done a thing. Leaking songs once in awhile doesn’t mean anything.

awww noo. His accent is more apparent in this one. The other two songs were near perfect though!

this song is really weak compared to the other ones. T__T

  5. 5 Strawberry January 17, 2009 at 10:15 am

    Not sure if want.

  8. 9 FRUITY January 17, 2009 at 11:55 am

i like the beat of the song!!
let’s just support this poor soul..

  9. 10 sabrinaswu January 17, 2009 at 11:55 am

This song is alright… I think I’d have to listen to it more though.

THOUGH! I have an idea! I think somebody (Darkchild maybe) should get se7en to sing the hook on someone else (who is already a famous American artist)’s song… Like he should have sung the hook on Lil Kim’s new song, rather than the other way around. It’s low key and still people will be like, “Who’s singing the hook on _____’s new single? Oh, it’s this Korean guy, Se7en!” And when that other person’s song is a hit, se7en will be heard a lot more! Yeah?! That totally works for people… He should do it. Somebody pass the word on to his managers! :)

And also… Boa’s song is still not very “American”…. “Eat you up?”…. and then she sings “So yum yum.” REALLY?! come on!

  10. 11 Rin January 17, 2009 at 12:25 pm

This song is all over the place. It’s obviously a demo. Seriously…who would release a song when it sounds like this? Se7en’s accent still shows too and it doesn’t show in his other leaked songs. This song is either an old leak or an unfinished product.

  11. 12 felisshi January 17, 2009 at 2:56 pm

Oh by the way, I love Se7en’s suit and Dolce and Gabbana’s belt.

  12. 13 duckpuddles January 17, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I don’t necessarily think the fact that he hasn’t practiced enough that his voice isn’t the same. When singing a different language, your voice tends to chance. Especially because we’re Asian, unless you’re super fluent in it, but in Se7en’s case, he’s not.
So give the guy a break. People are always ragging on him.
He’s trying. Yes, he should go back, but he can do whatever he wants.

  13. 14 fudgeyou January 17, 2009 at 3:11 pm

i heard se7en supposedly debuted last year (2008) already yet I haven’t seen or heard a thing about him in America.
it’s just mostly about Rain and BoA. (those two made the biggest debuts in America; Rain being in movies and BoA with her ‘Eat you Up’ Single)
man, I like se7en. I really hope he steps it up and do great.

  14. 15 se7enara January 17, 2009 at 3:53 pm

    ah…i love him so much
    miss his perform either…
hope he’ll be back this year
good luck 4 U.S debut n no matter what people said
    se7en fighting!!

  15. 16 Lia January 17, 2009 at 4:57 pm

I don’t like this song. Although his English is good, but the song sucks. The problem with his voice is that there are too many vocalists who sound like him in the US, so it’s hard for him to stand out. He should go back to Korea.

  16. 18 buddy January 17, 2009 at 6:54 pm

wow, the girl by the nick “RIN” bashing every soloist and praising every BOYSBAND.
what on earth is going on?

  17. 19 wz January 17, 2009 at 11:33 pm

i think the song is not bad!!
    :)

  18. 20 agasshi_seben January 18, 2009 at 12:31 am

i don’t get it…seriously is he singing or what???

  19. 21 hatepopseoul January 18, 2009 at 3:28 am

    but judo = you sucks…

  20. 22 hah? January 18, 2009 at 4:59 am

    Did he sing ‘Fu*king’ @ 1:13 ?

  21. 23 CandyGirl89 January 18, 2009 at 5:07 am

    ^
    nope he did not.

  22. 24 chuchu January 18, 2009 at 6:06 am

The problem with BOA and Seven is that neither one of them brings anything extra to the table in the American music scene. Speaking perfect english is not necessary as long as people can understand you a little bit (ex. Sean Paul from the West Indies). But these two bring NOTHING to the table. Being cute in Asia gets you far. Being cute here with so many cute, sexy, gorgeous people of all different races, colors, cultures, etc. gets you almost NO WHERE without having some degree of talent. You need something different about you that makes you stand out. Both BOA and Seven are stand outs in Korea but in America they are just two ordinary Asians who can’t sing worth a lick. They both do hip-hop trick dancing and they both have mediocre voices where they sing with absolutely no feeling, no passion, no conviction. BOA and Se7en must bring something different that no one has ever seen or heard before. Eitherwise, the both of them can hang it up and go back to Asia.

well i agree boa fails but se7en can actually sing. hell he did a great job singing brian mcknight song one last cry as seen here

  24. 26 Orchid899 January 18, 2009 at 6:45 am

    ChuChu,

I agree with you. Boa bores me to death, however I do love Se7en. They have totally redone his whole image in the states. I don’t think the poor lad knows who he is anymore. In Korea, he’s Korean-long hair, lovely songs, great style. In Japan he’s Japanese-shag hair, punk outfit. In America he’s a disgusting pimp. I know it’s all marketing, but I wish the REAL Se7en would come a little more forward, because I know the real Se7en is super talented and worth it all! Good luck, Se7en. Baby, I know it’s hard. Believe in yourself and stay true. I love you!

  25. 27 Min Tae Hyo January 18, 2009 at 6:54 am

Im going to give it a few more listens..to see if Ill end up liking it.

  26. 28 Min Tae Hyo January 18, 2009 at 7:04 am

It would suck for sure to see him fail or anybody. You want to hope the best for them but like I was thinking before…I cant help but like him. …And even though I do..his voice is nothing extraordinary..just mediocre.

If his debut becomes successful and/or if he gains some fame and notice and possibly if theres a next round…I recommend he go and work on his way of singing. Put some punch in his voice.

  27. 29 Min Tae Hyo January 18, 2009 at 7:09 am

    To sabrinaswu

That is a hella good idea. Somebody’s bright light came on.

DANCE ——The one stereotype about Aians that Se7en could break right now. The stereotype that Asians CAN”T dance exist in America/West. To see an Asian artist that can perform (dance and sing) on par with or better than American artist, is something we HAVEN”T seen in America. Beyonce can’t sing. Britney Spears can’t sing. JLo can’t sing. All three ladies are great dancers and give damn good performances when they are at the top of their games. They also have catchy beats to their songs.

Se7en’s gotta dance. If Rain gets here and brings that with him (and we know Rain gives good stage performances) he will blow past both Se7en and BOA in no time.

beyonce cant sing? what do you got in your ears cotton balls? for saying beyonce cant sing your whole comment is dumb now.

  30. 32 CandyGirl89 January 18, 2009 at 10:24 am

and tell me this is not knowing how to sing
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzpyokhFe7s

there is a reason why beyonce got the awards she got. hell i support se7en even se7en said he want to do a song with beyonce.

  31. 33 lev January 18, 2009 at 10:37 am

Oh man this track sounds bad. What the heck is going on SE7EN? … I don’t think even Amerie can help this song.

The guy wants to make it “big” in America but I don’t think the plan is going to well. He should try living over here for a couple of years, that way he can get a better understanding of the music and what people want; plus network more and learn the language, AND THEN come over and try again.

Hate to say it but from the looks if it, his album might just bomb. xc

  32. 34 lev January 18, 2009 at 10:38 am

Don’t get me wrong, I support SE7EN. XD I just have my doubts. =\

  33. 35 CandyGirl89 January 18, 2009 at 3:59 pm

well i like the song but maybe it is a little kiddish. i hope se7en do good but it will be hard for him to do so but he can still try.

  34. 36 megawar January 18, 2009 at 7:32 pm

hahaha its so funny to see people bashing out each other ones’ favorite entertainers like judo and candygirl…both entertainers have been postponing to release their albums,i bet theyre both scared cos whats more likely gonna happen is that whoever releases him/her album first will be the first one to go back to korea crying his ass off…come on americans dont give a sh1t to chinky-eyed cute faced entertainers, hmmm but since boa and se7en really insist, my advice is that boa needs to have breast and booty implant like really really big, and wear whorish make up, and for se7en he only needs to dye his skin black and be a gangster like lilwayne or T.I. since he acts like one soo yeah thats it wish both of u the best although im really smelling the scent of discrimination now for u guys

  35. 37 wow...... January 18, 2009 at 11:30 pm

This guy really needs to stop… like he would be better off in korea or japan or something… He is trying to be an american but it’s the same beat to all his songs… he just needs to stop.

  36. 38 Chill. January 19, 2009 at 1:05 am

I like this more than that Girls song. Lil Kim ruined that song. lol
Is this Se7en’s third leaked single? =[

And I disagree- both BoA and Se7en can sing with passion and emotion.
Britney cannot sing whatsoever and she can’t dance, but yet, she sells more than people like Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Ciara, JLo, etc. :P

  37. 39 Chill. January 19, 2009 at 1:09 am

Sorry, but Rain has already tried and failed as an actor.
Getting his name on Time’s ONLINE poll doesn’t really mean a lot especially since all the Asians are voting for one of the few Asians on it. He wasn’t even mentioned at all in the top 100 in the magazine.
    Chicken breasts and vegetables.

  38. 40 WonderBinnie January 19, 2009 at 2:28 am

I like Se7en’s korean songs, but not American songs. I can’t understand any of this…his english is…uumm….bad

    To JUDO and to PopSeoul,

I submit for your inspection one Kanye West: Amazing rapper with beats that flow naturally. Not all amazing songs need to get you up and dancing. Kanye West’s Heartless and Love Lockdown don’t do that. They’re mellow. Some songs are meant for you to sit back and relax to. I find this song to be one of those. Sure, he doesn’t have too much energy in this song. But I prefer this to BoA’s Eat You Up, which is the most shallow song I have ever heard. Period.

SE7EN’s been performing in events, so you can take that and shove it JUDO. He just finished shooting an MV for his first single.

Stop hating on him and start trying to support him. He’s only human. You don’t need to shove him under your foot in order to be a good critic.

Oh, and JUDO? You might want to work on checking up your facts, analyzing your statements, and improving the flow of your arguments. Right now, it just sounds like you’re whining.

  42. 44 sierraskyeshoei January 19, 2009 at 2:36 pm

Please take him back to Korea… he ain’t cut out for Ahmerika…

  43. 45 time100 January 19, 2009 at 3:38 pm

    @Chill
Please get your facts right – go to the Time website and check before you make flame Rain – “Getting his name on Time’s ONLINE poll doesn’t really mean a lot especially since all the Asians are voting for one of the few Asians on it. He wasn’t even mentioned at all in the top 100 in the magazine.”

Rain was one of the Top 100 named by the Time Magazine in 2006 – he was invited to the award dinner and rubbed shoulders with Will Smith and Stephen Colbert, who was also one of the winners.

Rain was nominated for 3 consecutive years, 2006 to 2008, on the Time online poll – which of course was no big deal – to most of his haters!

  44. 46 rika January 19, 2009 at 3:59 pm

It’s so freakin sad to see people who talked about BoA like she was some kind of a tramp get so butt-hurt by people saying way less-mean things about Se7en than the things that have been said about BoA.

This once again proves that there are way too many young-uns visiting this blog (or mentally immature, I suppose).

Personally, I fully support Se7en, BoA, and Rain. But on the same note, I’m not gonna get all emotional if they fail or get criticized by other people. Not like I’m their manager and it’s my job to keep up their image.

Leave the stars’ job to the stars. Let them prove themselves. We can enjoy, judge, or criticize, but let’s not get obsessive and start acting like our favorite artists are our sons and daughters.

  45. 47 Mitsuki January 19, 2009 at 8:29 pm

    Hmmmm…
Se7en’s other songs sound WAY BETTER than this one.. :(

  46. 48 CandyGirl89 January 20, 2009 at 6:07 am

damn it they took the video down damn you red queen media damn you

  47. 49 yuuki January 23, 2009 at 2:22 am

    OMG
the lyrics * SAY SORRY TO THE KID FROM JUNIOR HIGH COZ I TOOK HIS LUNCH MONEYOO*
    HAHHAHAHA
    now thats HILARIOUS hehehehe
    but love the song
    SE7EN FOREVER

  48. 50 quetzal January 25, 2009 at 6:12 pm

    >Se7en hasn’t done a thing except partying.

Se7en’s subconcious mind is optimizing a limited set of options. It’s getting him the most it can out of his time in America. Subconciously he knows he’s going to fail there, so it’s better to keep playing as the up-and-coming Se7en rather than spoil the fun by admitting the truth to his concious self or anyone elses.
