Nam Gyu-ri bails on SeeYa

Seeya_NamGyuri_20090420

SeeYa doesn’t really mean “See You Always” after all.

Having only debuted in 2006, SeeYa is already shaking at its foundation. Originally, the trio was signed under a five year contract with GM, but the management company has since been absorbed into M-Net Media. And with the end of SeeYa’s contract with M-Net, they are transferring over to Core Contents Media for the remainder of the two years from their original contract. Lee Bo-ram and Kim Yeon-ji have already moved over to the new management this past February and have begun preparations toward their fourth album. However, Nam Gyu-ri has failed to do the same.

So technically, Nam Gyu-ri is breaching her contract by dropping out, as well as affecting the release of their new album and the entire image of SeeYa, itself.

As a result, Core Contents is planning to sue.

Nam Gyu-ri’s people are just taking this sitting down though. They were told that her leaving would not lead to the disbanding of SeeYa, as there is already a replacement waiting in the halls. However, this fact has yet to be confirmed.

Nam Gyu-ri, apparently, has not given any reason for her decision to not contribute to SeeYa’s new album. Perhaps, it could be her health or a desire to escape the lime light. Being realistic though, it is most likely that she wishes to take a little break and eventually go solo.

The plastic doll does get more face time than Bo-ram and Yeon-ji but it is disappointing to watch SeeYa get dismantled. However, there has always been speculation over Nam Gyu-ri going solo, so it doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

Good luck.

To be honest, I do not like Nam Gyuri at all. I always want the original group to stay together, but in this case, I hope she gets replaced.. The other two are way too good of singers to be wasting away while Nam Gyuri tries to advance her own career…

i agree. she’s not that great anyways so it won’t be as big of a loss. the other 2 sing way better than her. when i saw them perform live once she was kinda boring to watch on stage.

doesn’t it come down to what’s in the contract? if it says she must transfer with the “merger”, then she’s asking to be sued. if it’s not very clear, they handle it the bridge-burning way :P

I’ve always pitied Yeonji. She is clearly the best singer of the trio (although Boram’s still light years ahead of Gyuri) and Nam Gyuri gets all the undeserved attention because of her plastic dollface and nothing else.

Ugh, Gyuri as a solo singer? Say hello to a fanbase consisting solely of tone-deaf, perverted ajusshis and pimply-faced randy teenage boys…

Does she really think she can make it solo?

I agree with Alexshin, the other two are so much better and it sucks that they are so underrated!

Makes me dislike her even more! If only the other could get more attention…..I love Lee Boram!

Why should she go solo? Boram and Yeonji do all the singing!

nam gyuri is just the face of seeya
    “seeya” is just so ironic

mmmm is nam gyu ri a natural beauty do you have an answer about this one?….I’ve heard her singing solo on a horror movie I forgot what movie is but she also acted there……she also got voice but when I sa the 2 members of seeyah in arirang channel popsseoul they really are way way too good to nam gyu ri …why she is much popular with them its because she’s much prettier than the two but hey the two are more talented than her. I’m not sure she can make it solo but an artist mm I guess coz she can also act and she really are pretty but the prettiness is not the basis of being famouse right but also the more important in the industry is the talent. :) You can do it seeyah without nam gyu ri ur way better, way talented than her :D

SeeYa will never be the same again without gyu ri.
though, i can say that i don’t especially like her nor do i hate her because of her getting plastic surgery.

BUT she DOES have a beautiful voice ! IF only you people care a bit more to go all the way back to their debut.
sure… bo ram and yeon ji can sing with way more power than her, but it would be boring for the whole band image if all three had the same voice, don’t u think?

now i’m saying all this as a fully fletched SeeYa fan but if you could only make up ur minds… i’m sure u’ll find out there’s always a reason behind anything.

instead of hating here and there… at least try not to judge only by looks or plain not-knowing.
also i’m not especially offended by those other comments. just trying to make people a bit more reasonable.

though i’m really sad about what i read about SeeYa earlier…

the show must go on, right? (^__^)v

I liked Nam Gyu-ri’s voice the best out of all 3 girls. Why? Because Yeonji has no dynamics. She just shouts pretty much, and because she’s so loud, people think she’s good. Boram is better than Yeonji because of her range. She always sings the obnoxiously high parts at the beginnings of their songs. But when she goes lower, she’s pretty much exactly like Gyu-ri. So I’m not sure why everyone thinks Boram is better than Gyu-ri.

I love the way Gyu-ri’s voice sounds. When it’s low, it’s emotional and almost maternal sounding, like she’s rocking you to sleep. Then when she does sing higher, it becomes rock hard. She doesn’t shout as loud as Yeonji, but she still manages to be heard and carry so much emotion.

Another fantastic part of Gyu-ri’s talent is her self-image. She knows she’s the most beautiful of the 3. When Seeya performed dance remixes of their songs, you could see that Gyu-ri put every ounce of passion she had into her dance moves. She knew how to work that stage and make everyone pay attention to her. And who cares if she had plastic surgery? (which, by the way, no one knows for sure. It’s only a rumor that everyone’s basing off of pictures of when she was fatter. I’d lmao if it turns out that she didn’t have any surgery) She’s still talented. It shouldn’t affect your judgment of her, and if it does, then you have problems.
