In what was supposed to be a highly anticipated Haptic Mission commercial from Samsung Anycall, the boring storyline and the attempt by SS591 to speak in Engrish is not worthy of even 1 minute of your time.
Unfortunately for Samsung, which usually have slightly entertaining CF series (such as Anystar with Lee Hyori or Anyband with BoA), this lackluster has fallen under the radar despite the star power of Kim Hyun-joong, Kim Bum, Kim Joon, and Son Dambi.
If these boys want to do anything in the U.S., they are further behind in the English department than Rain himself.

Why are people being so mean to SS501??? Who cares if they can’t speak English. They aren’t looking to debut here. They just came to America so they can work on their new album. I know English is an international language but that doesn’t necessarily mean they have to learn it. Besides, they are very hardworking and they are so awesome, funny and cute!

Dude, relax. Speaking a second language is NOT easy. At least they learned Japanese for their fans. English can come in later. Why must you be so harsh on them? English or not, SS501 is the best!
By the way, if you’re going to make fun of someone, at least have the common decency to spell their name right. It’s SS501 NOT SS591.
I don’t think it’s really safe to say they “learned” Japanese though…^^;; I haven’t had too much exposure to their Japanese, but given what was said in that clip right there, along with an F4 interview in Japan… Kim Hyun Joong’s Japanese is probably about as good as his English…. it’s just much easier to pronounce Japanese than English b/c Japanese has less sounds than English, all of which a native Korean speaking person can pronounce.
ss501 is worth every minute of my time…
I like their what you call “infamous” english clip, it’s cute ^^ it’s like when we go on a trip to somewhere, we try talking the language they speak there and have fun ^^

I’m not saying Americans have to learn all the languages of the world. And I agree that if ss501 wants to debut in the US, they should learn English, but to my knowledge they aren’t yet. So, the point is quite mote. Just ebcasue they visited the US, does not mean they have to know English perfectly.
Also, in other countries, they listen to music in other languages… US could also…

If that’s how you truly feel, then I’m deeply sorry you have a lack of understanding of the majority of Americans. I also commend you for learning a foreign language. I also think it’s easier to learn languages in your own family. Spanish and French were MUCH easier for me to pick up because the vocabulary is so similar to English, as well as the grammatical functions of the languages. In the same way, since Japanese was so different, it was much more difficult for me to pick up. However, once I learned Japanese, Korean is much easier than I would have thought, because they are SO similar

It doesn’t matter if they can or cannot speak English. It is true that they should pull up their English standard in order to make it big overseas. What’s even true is that we do not really care about it, because what’s important is for them to deliver their music, giving their 200% on stage and doing their job well as entertainers. Mastering English is just a bonus point.
It’s not really important whether they’re fluent or not fluent in english. It’s their talent and CUTENESS that counts!! hehehe they can always hire a translator!

Its funny how people say “Americans” are not accepting of someone else’s culture. Being “American” is a a nationality not a race or ethnic group. Also, they don’t call USA the melting pot for nothing, thats more than what I can say for any other country on the planet. No other country is more diverse in culture, music, and ethnicities than America, and yet all of them can call themselves American. I’m an American, been living in Korea for 2 years and I could live here until I die and still never be considered a citizen here. So please stop being hypocrites and bashing America, the truth is “Americans” in general speak many different languages but English is much more widely spoken next at a close second would be Spanish. As of today technically, the US governement has not declared an official language. So please get your facts straight before you post a crude, immature, and non-meaningful remark.

kim hyunG jooN(baby) and jungmin has a good grasp of the language since baby used to stay for a short while in australia while jungmin is quite fast in learning a language.
it is unfair to ss501 or any other bands if they were to be judged by their “behind the scenes” funny videos. of course ss501 will put up a professional act and try their best in communicating in english when they are performing or such.
cut these boys some slack. and americans or any other race should learn to be more accepting of other cultures and languages.

because English is our international language, we are all expected to know at least a little of it. It is very important for artists like ss501 to learn and speak English. By this, it will be easier for them to communicate with their foreigner fans. Honestly speaking, i sometimes get annoyed at their videos because i need subtitles to understand what they are saying.
i am also trying to learn Korean and even Japanese later. I know SS501 cannot speak English well but that makes them all the more authentic. their music is their passion and music is an international language. that’s all they need really. i am a recent fan of SS501 and seriously, i think i love their work. they always produce quality work and that is all that matters. way to go SS501!

English is not their first language, after all.

first off: this is a private blogsite…the owner is entitled to his/her opinion…if you dont like what he/she wrote…make your own…
next: please dont think im taking sides…but i somehow agree that if they really want to penetrate the international market…aside from US…they should improve on their english…they could start on their pronunciation…
this is a fact…in one of the articles iv read (pardon if i cant recall exactly where…), which was posted some time after their US bid…DSP and the boys themselves realized that it’s hard to get in the US market…which means that they have that in their thoughts all along…so what they are doing now is to spread out to the Asian market first to somehow test the waters…this i must give in…they are doing a fantastic job in this endeavor…so conquering US is not really very remotely possible…
in all fairness to our boys, i can really feel that they are doing their english sessions very seriously…listen to their Rebirth songs, especially HARUMAN – (“I wish I could bring you back again”), their pronunciation of “everything” and “love” is already correct in most part…that single line of our otter is a bit ok now…a far contrast to when they sang “In a Rush” and “No Matter What”…
So guys…let’s be fair…the boys have admitted that they want to conquer the world…they are taking the baby steps to get there…
Rain did it being almost 10 yrs in the business…give our eye candies more time…remember, they are also polishing their Japanese at the same time since they are as busy there if not busier…
