There hasn’t been a whole lot of word on Mnet’s new pretty vocal group, T-ara, since the news came that two of the original members, Ji-won and Ji-ae, decided to leave the group. Magnae Ji-yeon has been promoting “Woman’s Generation / Forever Love” alongside sunbae groups SeeYa and DaVichi, and has also been cast in the horror drama, “Soul“.
Now, T-ara is ready to plot themselves back on the map of 2009 summer girl groups. Instead of being a boring old five member girl group, T-ara will spice things up with SIX. Whatever happened to the saying, “Less is more”?
Aside from the four known members Ji-yeon, Jeon Bo-ram, Eun-jung, and Hyo-min, T-ara will officially unveil all six members on July 7th. No word on who the two new members are yet, but they are said to possess looks and vocal abilities on par with the rest of the members. Mnet is said to have spent three years preparing this group in order to compete with all the other popular girl groups that have all the pretty looks, but none of the solid singing caliber that Mnet often boasts. For a group that Mnet claims to have spent a long time grooming, there’s been a lot of last minute configurations.

Sigh, I liked Ji-won and Ji-ae. Mnet usually has it down with the talent, but I’m still not convinced that Ji-yeon’s that great a singer. Looking forward to seeing how the new girls shape up against the others though!

Where the heck did they get 2 members all of a sudden? I hope the other two didn’t come back, but 6 members in a group of all vocals is a bit much, but I guess you can never have to much talent in a group. There girls are really underrated, and while everyone will talk about the 2 new rookies and the comeback of snsd, they’ll steal away the stage with their super vocals, looks and dancing. It’s all about the timing of the debut now, it’s got to be perfectly set so it won’t directly clash with any of the powerhouses.

err… with so many girl groups coming up this year, whos gonna care about them? enough with the girls, some boy groups should come up as well.
and if they are gonna go down the same road as the rest of the girl groups, cute, sexy whatever-you-call it concept (but ultimately always ripping off each other or from western artistes) then i dont see how they are gonna stand out. they will just be another girl group.
Yeah there are a lot of girl groups true..
but there are so many guy groups out there already…we need some more innovative solo artists or something in kpop-dom.
