…after admitting that she is currently in a relationship with JunJin.
The actress was originally cast to be the female lead in the upcoming MBC special drama, “Gesture“, set to air this coming September 5th, but was immediately kicked to the curb once she went public about her relationship. MBC, however, released an official statement on the 23rd stating that any published news regarding Lee Si-young being officially cast as the female lead in the drama were, in fact, not true.
One representative of MBC stated,
Since no contract was signed at the time, it is always possible to change the cast. However, it is true that script writer Lim Sung-han did have Lee Si-young in mind for the main female role. But it has been decided that due to the public and media’s extensive interest and talk (rumors) about the actress, could affect the drama in a negative way. Hence, the reason we have decided not to cast the actress in our upcoming drama.
Another anonymous representative also stated that aside from being dropped from the MBC drama, a certain brand is reconsidering its decision to contract her as their main CF model. As a newbie actress in the industry, Lee Si-young being dropped from numerous gigs like this will have a negative effect on her career in the future. Looks like not all actresses benefit from their relationship with a well-known celebrity, like Park Shi-yeon and Amy did from their relationship with ShinHwa’s Eric and Lee Min-woo.
It’s sad that she seems to be taking all the hard blows from having a relationship with JunJin. Come to think of it, this can be pretty insulting for JunJin because it makes it seem as though they’re kicking his lady to the curb because he has a lousy image or because they just don’t like him and don’t want anything to do with him.

I don’t think a relationship can blow her job. It’s just an excuse. I don’t know either of them before their relationship is reported. Even if Junjin is known, I don’t think he is as well known as Rain. Sometimes, a lovely couple can even boost up their own career. To secure a job, nothing is more important than work hard, play less.
o_0 No need to bring up Rain.
Just because they are singers. No offense.
I know many other Korean singers and actors but I don’t know this couple before the report, anyway.
You all said that they have their own lives to live, but you have to admitted that it’s also a price to pay. If you in the entertainment industry, you don’t own your life! You make a lot of money because of all the fans. If you want to live your life the way you want it, don’t be in the entertainment industry. They know how their lives going to be if they become famous. And they still choose to be in this industry, so they have to deal with it.
thats..lame
stupid MBC thats so childish
dropping her cause she in in a relationship
and what’s wrong with JunJin?
he’s hot and..come on..he’s in SHINHWA
I hear you May. What’s wrong with JunJin??? He’s a SHINHWA!! You cant go wrong with a SHINHWA!! “…he has a lousy image…” What’s that all about??? Puhleeazzeee!!!
..harshness much??…how come relationships between 2 icons become such a huge problem??..i seem to miss the point there…
omo! then the wgm project indeed has a success case! but at the same time i really understand why relationships between celebs can be ‘impossible’…though i think it’s super childish. dating is personal, and acting’s work, so what if she’s lead with another male actor, that’s just her work. being with junjin doesnt mean she will under-perform! ah well
That’s ridiculous.
They make it see like when she went for the role she was asking to date the producer and film crew too? Are there hurt feelings involved or something becuase that’s the only reason I can think of. She SHOULD be free to have her own life (as long as she’s not hurting anyone), obviously she’s not, so why are they making this an issue?
And I can’t see how this will effect her role or drama itself. Most actresses are mature enough to understand that they have a job, and neitizzens should be able to understand that people have two different lives (work, and play).
It’s a lame excuse to drop her but there is some logic in it; since her relationship with Jun Jin is out in the open, her acting career could falter cause of his fans (think of all those Shinhwa fans which practically make up the majority of Korea) who may dislike her and therefore create low ratings for drama’s that she may appear in. Those low ratings are bad for MBC so it’s not like they’re taking it personal, they’re just being practical.
This is just… plainly ridiculous -_________- This is why sometimes I hate Korean industry. American showbiz is more open than this.
I really can’t understand the we-can’t-hire-you-now-that-you-get-a-boyfriend-because-it-will-affect-the-rating thing, but I think that’s how Korean industry work. So sad.
Anyway, I believe that Si Young will get a better chance in the future since she is really nice. That scriptwriter is just stupid.
I hope that Suck! What kind of bs is that?
They were my fav couple on WGM. I wish them all the luck in big and better thing to come.
I meant i hope that show Suck.See that got me all worked up can’t even type right.
Aww nvm. I hope the show that she was supposed to get will have super low ratings
