Sung Yuri and Lee Jin will be competing for ratings through their upcoming dramas.
In “Swallow the sun,”(left) Sung Yuri will be playing the lead female role as Lee Soo-hyun, a girl who moves to the United States to make a living after her family is left in poverty. And what kind of drama ensues a Korean girl? A love triangle of course! When she meets the son of a wealthy family (played by Lee Wan) and an orphan (played by Ji Sung), well… you see where I’m going with this, right? Lots of running after the other, and tears of course. Hopefully she doesn’t find out that the person she truly loves ends up being her long lost brother.
As for Lee Jin, she will be in a horror filled drama “Soul” as the girlfriend of a criminal psychoanalyst (played by Lee Seo Jin). The plot will focus on Lee Jin’s character as a girl who has a ghost living in her body who had been unfairly murdered.
Sung Yuri and Lee Jin’s dramas are on the opposite side of the spectrum as Sung Yuri’s SBS drama will focus on romance and Lee Jin’s drama centered around horror.
Will the two shows be based on the popularity of its’ leading lady or be more popular for the show itself? You be the judge. SBS drama “Swallow the Sun” will air on July 8th and play on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while Lee Jin’s MBC horror drama “Soul” will debut a month later in August on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well.
Now if we could only get Lee Hyori in a drama, this popularity contest would become a drama itself!

I think Sung Yuri’s drama’s going to do better because people tend to generally focus more on her, and the genre of the Lee Jin’s drama.. well, it’s not really catered to many people’s tastes. Many people would shy away from horror more than they would romance.

Swallow the Sun will probably find more popularity simply because the storyline & genre will appeal to a majority of viewers. I’m sure the lead actresses will generate a good amount of interest in the shows but it all boils down to how many people are watching it, right? Moms, kids, grandparents, etc are probably going to watch the generic k-drama rather than a suspense/thriller show.
honestly, Sung Yuri really cannot act. I dunno about Lee Jin since i havn’t watched her so i’ll have to see.
on a more serious note, i would rather watch lee jin’s movie than sung yuris though i do agree with kstyles that sung yuri’s movie would appealr to a larger majority of viewers. we’ll see tho…

Let’s be honest. Kpopstar1337 is probably the “average” kdrama viewer. They won’t care that the lead can’t act. They’ll rant about how much surgery she’s had or rave about how “hawt” she is. Acting skills have very little to do with kdrama, in my opinion. A lot of the hype & glory is based off of the celebrity’s fanbase, not acting/singing skills. KPop culture scares me these days. Nobody gives a flying rip that the group of junior high school girls “singing” and shaking their non-existent “stuff” on stage couldn’t ACTUALLY sing or dance their way out of a paper bag. It’s the hype, mostly the insane fan support that keeps their under-aged fame on the front page.

Paris Hilton, Lil Jon, and T-Pain should all be thrown on a desert island somewhere in the Pacific but it ain’t going to happen anytime soon because some people still follow them. Positive or negative word is still word nonetheless. That’s all I’m saying. Word will PROBABLY follow the Sung Yuri drama because it fits the bill for MOST kdrama viewers. If most viewers don’t watch Hon, then they probably won’t run their mouths as much about it. And I never really disagreed with you as far as Sung Yuri’s attractiveness. even though hyori is hot, most ppl wouldnt watch it. i think she learned her lesson with her first drama…..and i think she’s still recovering from it….and that drama……..only had 5 episodes. maybe get a hotter main lead than lee dong gun? dong gun is my favorrrrittteeeee actor, and that drama was just a plain BAD.

besides, Swallow the Sun is not just about romance, it is also an action drama.
Lee Jin is only playing a supporting role in her horror drama. she probably won’t have much screen time. Since horror is not my type, i wont be watching it.

Cant wait for Sung Yuri drama, she is awesome, I still couldn’t understand why there are still anti fans of her. I don’t find her acting skill bad, in fact I find that her acting skill is awesome, I will not regard her acting as the BEST but I can say that she is a real actress with quality. Totally love her spoiled child acting in Snow Queen, she is indeed versatile actress as you can see her different image and acting in Hong Gil Dong.
Hopefully through Swallow of the Sun, she can be recognized by more people, cross my fingers.
I love her pairing of Ji Sung and Lee Wan in this drama. Hard to choose who do I want Yuri to end up with in this drama.

wait,,,between the 2, I like sung Yuri more,, I’ve seen her in hong gil dong,,it was ok for me,,,though the part where she pretended to be a guy was never convincing, but it was okay. I think these 2 shows will be competing with Yoon Eun Hye’s Lady Castle…I don’t know what you guys will watch but I’ll definitely watch Eun hye’s,,since she’s good and it’s been so long since she was in a drama…there’s always something new, or a trend in something starts whenever she’s in a drama….from clothes, haircut, song, gesture,,and even job,,, can’t believe that “barista” became in demand in korea because of coffee prince..a korean classmate also said that she’s also known to be a “rating gatherer” in korea,I’m sorry,, don’t hate me.. I talked a lot about Eun hye…well my point is…the 2 has a strong rival… ex-member of Baby vox Yoon Eun Hye…
It will probably be between Yuri and Eunhye’s dramas, but I personally like Yuri more, so I’ll be waiting for Swallow the Sun to come out!
Well, personally I’d like Swallow in the Sun better since Lee Wan’s in it~ His handsome face is just too much for me to resist~ And since Lee Jin’s in a horror, I probably won’t be watching that. I’d say Sung Yuri’s a pretty good actress since I loved her drama, A Thousand Years of Love. And Hyori’s not bad of an actress since If In Love… Like Them was pretty good. But what about Ock Juhyun? o.o
I’ve really missed Lee Jin and she’s a really good actress so I’ll be looking forward to seeing her new horror, but I’m really super excited for Yuri’s new drama! The trailers look awesome and she’s one of the most beautiful actresses! Soooooo excited now!!!!!
