The hallyu actress of Winter Sonata and Stairway to Heaven fame will donate 100 million won (approximately $77,797 USD) toward poor students in her hometown of Busan. Choi Ji-woo has previously donated a total of 300 million won since the year 2000 toward scholarships for needy children in Busan.
On July 1st, Choi Ji-woo will personally hand out the scholarships when she attends a conference dedicated to improving education and fostering human resources. It’s always nice seeing celebrities, especially those with an impressive resume and making bank with endorsement deals, giving back to the community.

wahh i want that scholarship. Its nice to see there’s still rich people out helping the needy. I just wish they does it in private. Because when they usually plublish this, its just mean they are only doing this for their image.

This is truly great as education is so precious but sometimes it is taken for granted. It’s not until you don’t get the means to be able to study that you realise how valuable education really is.

It doesn’t really matter if the celebrity is doing it for their own self-promotion or whatever. The point is that kids who need the money are getting it from those who can provide. And maybe if it is publicized, it’ll convince other celebrities or rich folk to give as well.

In this economy, every bit of scholarship money gives hope to those who want to take post-secondary education. Who knows, one of the recipients may end up as a future hallyu star in a few years.
OK…she didn’t have to tell the whole world about it! geez..talk about being a humanitarian! why don’t she get some meat in her skinny self first before she helps others! is this her way of getting her career back..due to her drama misses and flops?? even her “boy toy” BF didn’t help..did it?!

It is so sad that people talk bad inspite of her generosity. She doesn’t have to build her image. Her image is already well know. Even Bill Gates charities are published, so what’s the problem. This will encourage those “big shots & rich celebrities” to follow their footsteps. It’s really very hard to be a S. Korean actress. You do good, you hear something. You mess up a little, you hear something. People be kind. Wash your own dirt before you do somebody else.
