Korean pop stars respond to Michael Jackson’s death

Michaeljackson_090625

Micheal Jackson died on June 25th in Los Angeles after cardiac arrest. He was 50 and leaves behind 3 children.

The “King of Pop” was planning his comeback in London, England with 50 shows in July 2009.

We will remember him for not only his phenomenal talent as a performer but also for the fact that he loved bibimbap (Ask any Korean and they will confirm this tidbit of information).

In response to his death, the Korean pop acts are tweeting their condolences and releasing statements:

JYP via Twitter:The 1st album that I ever bought was Micheal Jackson’s ‘Off the wall’. That became the definition of music to me. At least 50% of me is him

BoA via Twitter: “Rest in peace Michael Jackson. I’m going to miss you so much…I’m so sad right now”

Rain was at Incheon International airport heading to Macau when he heard the news: “He was the teacher and the inspiration to me dancing. Even though he is no longer with us, he will always be the best performer on stage…

Wheesung via interview with IS sports online: The news is as shocking as the announcement of war… his death will effect musicians all around the world-including me.

Check out MJ’s performance of Billie Jean (1983)

RIP Michael Jackson, hope his family and love ones the best of luck

    • 2 aaliya June 27, 2009 at 2:25 pm

MJ inspired singers and dancers: he’s most of musicians icon and everyone else who loved icon. Without him we wouldn’t have pop music like we do today and pop artist today wouldn’t be doing all those fancy moves if it wasn’t for him. With his singing and moves he brung the world music together :cause everybody was fascinated with his talent and it spread from North America to South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and etc. Every singer and dancer took some of his dance moves and singing skills– mold it to somethin greater which is our music today.

Everyone who listen to pop should be thankful for wat MJ brung to the world. I know he won’t be forgotten by no one. I am thankful and I hope he rest in peace. He’s in a better place now far from this crazy world.

    RIP…MJ :(

  3. 4 LoLo June 27, 2009 at 4:26 am

what a sad day. I was in times square when i heard the news, and then saw the news of his death on screen. I was crying like a little baby. All weirdness aside, MJ is a legend, and thats how he should be remembered.

The guy went through a really tough life, he never had a childhood or any childhood friends. Thats all he wanted How would you act if your were 45 and the only childhood memories you have are getting beat up by your father and working in the studio, while other kids are talking about toys and school.

“The news is as shocking as the announcement of war…”

Stop being such an effing dramatic attention whore, Wheesung.

That aside, Michael Jackson is one of the three greats (along with Frank Sinatra and Elvis) that defined American music. He helped to shape the current music scene more than any other artist in history. R.I.P., MJ.

  5. 7 yan June 27, 2009 at 5:38 am

Wheesung’s response is dramatic, but it’s a good similie. After MJ’s death, the word spread even faster than the H1N1 virus, not to mention how many people on facebook/myspace/etc have a status about his death, and the number of videos uploaded on youtube over the last couple of hours about the death and their condolences to MJ.

    • 8 austinrei June 27, 2009 at 4:15 pm

I think that has to make him really happy right now… the entire world is playing his songs…back to back! He can hear his music resounding throughout all nations. What an amazing moment. He deserves it. He had a tough life….he is still an Icon.

  10. 13 mizxericaz June 27, 2009 at 8:30 am

Ah, he was such a unique performer.
I nearly cried for him even though I was never a huge fan!
Just shows how much of a impact he was on music!

    RIP

He truly is an inspiration to all those people who either know or have been a fan of him. His music career was long lasting and he impacts us even today when he’s not as famous. Those famous moves, such as “moon walk”, he created will still stick to this earth. He really is wonderful.

I hope you rest in peace, Mr. Jackson.

  12. 15 kraisnn June 27, 2009 at 8:47 am

‘Remember the Time’ when he made us ‘Scream?’ He made us ‘Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough’ of his rhythm. Its just ‘Bad’ that ‘Another Part of Me’ and of our history is gone. Whether ‘Billie Jean’ looks ‘Black or White’ or even though his face looks like ‘Thriller,’ he is still an icon. He has ‘Heal the World’ through his music. And now that ‘sHe’s Out Of My Life,’ we will never forget how ‘Ben’ made us ‘Beat It’ and ‘You Rock My World’ through his songs. The ‘Man in the Mirror’ is now a Man to be REMEMBERED.

It’s devastating what happened to Michael. Without him, music wouldn’t be as it is today. RIP.

  18. 23 OMG June 27, 2009 at 1:25 pm

WTF is with this MJ, it’s stupid, get over it. I never knew him until later and his music is not even good

    • 24 IceBlue June 27, 2009 at 3:38 pm

Wow you must be very very young to say such an ignorant thing like that.

I suppose with music its all a matter of tastes, and I can’t fault you for not liking his music. But if you lived during the time when he was at his peak you would know MJ was revolutionary. He helped shape what the music and dance industry is like today. MTV would not be around if not for him. Even now, no one, absolutely no one can match his dance skills.

That being said, disrespecting the dead is not very nice.

    • 25 Ulala June 28, 2009 at 12:31 am

Your parents not giving much attention? Poor thing.

    • 26 +_+ June 28, 2009 at 12:57 pm

      WHAT!?!

The music industry wouldn’t come this far if he didn’t exist. He’s a great artist and his music is great music to my ears and to a lot of other people. Stars actually appreciate his music and idolize him!

It’s not that I’m trying to force you to like him and music but I’m just trying to say you should at least respect him. He just passed away and he needs to be respected.

If you still don’t know that his the King of Pop and he’s a talented dancer and singer, JUST STOP AND GET A LIFE!

    • 27 DeeDee June 29, 2009 at 5:08 am

if u don’t like him..then don’t say anything at all azzhole…just go and suck your momma’s titties and stop whining…

MJ is the greatest performer ever i cant help but cry and remember my youth growing up in the 80s and seen his videos on tv and trying to emulate him I believe he was a victim of people trying to take advantage of his talent for their own greed .. rest in peace MJ now you are where you belong god bless you.

    • 37 +_+ June 28, 2009 at 12:52 pm

I’m not yet born when he was at the peak of his career, but, it’s undenniable that the songs he sang inspired us and gives us that dancing beat.

Though, the sad part of his career is the part that other people take advantage of him and use him for their own greed. :(

  28. 38 Pragita June 27, 2009 at 10:54 pm

A great man! No one will even TRY to replace him cuz they know it’s impossiable!!! He’ll be missed greatly!

  34. 45 Oliver Cromwell June 28, 2009 at 9:51 am

In his prime the guy was right up there with Elvis and James Brown when it came to sheer entertainment and talent.

The really sad thing is that many people who are mourning his death now used to make fun of him when he was alive.

    • 46 angelas June 28, 2009 at 11:13 am

I know ): Hypocrites galore. I always loved MJ, but I’d be lying if I didn’t think that he was weird…. but this was just because of my misconception of one aspect of him. Bah, I hate the media. They made him look like a monster! ): But sadly, only now have I researched and cleared my confusion. I really do adore him though. *Sigh* I hate it when this old saying rings true – “Don’t know what you have until it’s gone.”

RIP MJ. We will always love you. You will live on! <3

      • 47 soju June 30, 2009 at 6:10 am

just goes to show that humans are prone to reacting to sensationalism and in typical sheeple fashion, they’ll follow anything that mass media puts out to them.

    • 48 Taejus June 28, 2009 at 3:37 pm

Exactly. Humans could be so twisted.

Michael Jackson is one of the best entertainers of all time. He made a lot of things for the music industry and has inspired a lot of people.

He’s a great entertainer and performer and everybody loves him. He became part of a lives and I hope future generations will also appreciate him. Without him, pop music today cannot exist.

An inspiration and idol. I never really look up to him as up as I look up to him now. I agree with angelas, it makes me feel guilty I didn’t idolize him that much when he was still alive. The saying is true: “Don’t know what you have until it’s gone”.

Goodbye MJ, Rest In Peace. :(
