TVXQ first Korean group to rock the Tokyo Dome

dbsk_20090701

Of course, you only bring the best and the biggest to the Tokyo Dome.

As TVXQ’s last stop for their fourth live tour on July 4th and 5th, the “Rising Gods of the East” are going to perform at the famed Tokyo Dome as the first Korean group to do so. Apparently, Rain was the first Korean artist to perform at the Tokyo Dome in 2007, but he failed to draw a crowd big enough to fill the whole stadium. I don’t foresee that sort of problem for TVXQ though. They are going to receive a packed house if anything.

The Tokyo Dome boasts a 55,000 seating capacity, and is about four times bigger than the largest stadium in Korea. Top Japanese artists, such as SMAP, KAT-TUN, KinKi Kids, and X-JAPAN, as well as many world stars, including Madonna, Bon Jovi, and The Rolling Stones, have all graced the Tokyo Dome in the past.

The boys are flourishing in Japan. All we can do from Korea is watch from afar and go “Atta boys!” as we wait patiently for their return to the motherland. When is that going to happen? *shrugs*

DBSK has worked so hard over these past few years. I’m glad that they are doing so well in Japan.

      • 5 DBSJSHINee July 3, 2009 at 12:17 am

lol, i think thats kind of an understatement.
They have already owned Korea, so they’re just moving on to Japan now.

        • 6 hannah July 3, 2009 at 4:13 am

I agree. They have garnered the attention of all Korean fans already – now they’re trying to be the next big thing in Japan too.

      • 7 LH July 3, 2009 at 1:59 pm

        Are you insane????

The 4th korean album of DBSK sold over 500,000 copies in 3 MONTHS in 2008.
The last time that someone sold that much was in 2003.

  4. 8 Mew July 2, 2009 at 6:09 pm

I cant wait to see the videos. They’re going to rock! :D

  5. 9 DBSJSHINee July 2, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Haa, of course filling 55,000 seats won’t be a problem for the boys. If anything, I’m sure that they would easily be able to fill anything more than that.

  6. 10 DBSK_FTW July 2, 2009 at 6:21 pm

i heard somewhere the tickets were sold out in half an hour and there are still A LOT of people want to attend LOL
well,kat-tun’s sold out after a few minutes but still, THSK’s fever is just starting. japan, get ready for more !!! xD
i wish they’ll do a korean comeback later this year, though =D

  7. 12 Jessica July 2, 2009 at 6:50 pm

  13. 18 vicky July 2, 2009 at 9:18 pm

do you have to compare Rain with DBSK? can’t you see that Rain is not in a group? you can say that DBSK can fill up Tokyo Dome because they are composed of 5 members! stupid…

by the way, why didn’t you mention Arashi?? they’re so big in Japan right now >:(

    • 19 XiahJunsooLover July 2, 2009 at 10:06 pm

being a group or not have NOTHING to do with success, okay ?
and the fact that rain can’t fill up the whole stadium is TRUE and there’s nothing wrong about that. rain IS still one of the biggest stars in asia.

arashi is always big in japan LOL they’ve been around for what, 10 years now ? and why would POPSEOUL mention arashi ? OMG you’re just being absurd, really…

    • 20 soju July 3, 2009 at 2:17 am

i was thinking the same thing, but if ps didn’t mention that dRain was a solo act, you’ll have a bunch of his crazies in here saying, “hey, dRain was the first korean to play the dome!” then there would be the endless debate on who was better. dRain or THSK. of course, we all know that THSK pwns dRain anyday! :)

  14. 21 rellalove July 2, 2009 at 9:24 pm

    DBSK!! :] Good JOB!

  19. 27 Bo mi July 2, 2009 at 10:26 pm

    <3 DBSK!
    Good luck!
    Hwaiting!

  20. 28 kate July 2, 2009 at 10:30 pm

How can you say Rain failed to draw crowd. There are more than 45,000 people watched Rain concert in 2007. Is 45,000 is not enough? Remember he’s a solo artist.

  21. 29 papperoni666 July 2, 2009 at 10:35 pm

absolutely DBSK fever… i think its even bigger than the H1N1 flu thingy….
    DBSK is soooo AWESOME!!!

  25. 33 long_li July 3, 2009 at 12:24 am

i can see sm milking dbsk out in japan for years and have them mainly stay there since it is a bigger music scene like they did w/ boa. i like their japanese songs better anyways.

  26. 34 coreen July 3, 2009 at 12:33 am

    Dear POPSEOUL,

TVXQ Tokyo Dome’s tickets sold out for 30 minutes according to their Official site.

  27. 35 BKJSuh July 3, 2009 at 12:37 am

Weather their tickets has been sold out within 30 seconds or 30 minutes doesn’t really matter. Just the fact they are performing at Tokyo Dome is significant enough.

Selling 200k albums? Charted as top 10 seller of 2008? Can’t have a problem filling in the dome.

  28. 36 Guavimoto July 3, 2009 at 12:47 am

Hey, they are doing something remarkable for themselves, and also for Korea by giving a positive influence of Korea’s image in Japan.

I say let the boys keep working, and don’t be impatient about returning to Korea. What they’re doing in Japan is something much more meaningful than just pleasing fans – they’re making a social and historical change of how Korea is perceived in another country.

    • 37 sylvs July 3, 2009 at 7:21 am

oooh, so sweet and very true.
      they didn’t lost their identity
      being koreans. korea’s no. 1
      exporter is dbsk.

  29. 38 chocobo July 3, 2009 at 1:05 am

you should add Ayumi Hamasaki!!! Ayu was there~

and so lots of Johnny’s boy bands.

I believe that Popseoul just want to give the examples of the artists who have been performed at the Tokyo Dome so the readers get the idea, not the full list.

    • 40 JO July 3, 2009 at 4:32 am

exactly. What is up with these people bashing popseoul for not mentioning every artist who performed there?

      • 41 BKJSuh July 3, 2009 at 7:11 am

Uh huh, so true. I third this statement. You guys actually expect Popseoul to dig up every single artists? That isn’t the main point of the artiel. If you are calling out on that, you already failed as a reader and fan of DBSK.

  31. 42 Kelly July 3, 2009 at 1:32 am

FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TVXQ/DBSK/THSK I couldn’t be bothered with either 3 abbreviations. 5 og you will bring the house down!!!! WoooooooHOOOOOOOOO~

  32. 43 Emily July 3, 2009 at 1:45 am

They’ll do great! They always do. :)

  35. 46 bubbles July 3, 2009 at 4:14 am

if they are smart they will stay in japan a bit longer

  36. 47 amandan July 3, 2009 at 4:14 am

I’m happy for them. They’re probably the only boyband I like and respect. They worked their asses off in Japan to reach that stage and didn’t just ride on the Korean Wave.

Two days at Tokyo Dome, meaning a crowd of about 100,000?
It’s going to be an emotional one for them.

  37. 48 ANNA7 July 3, 2009 at 5:03 am

` micky go cut your hair!

  38. 49 Ollies July 3, 2009 at 5:08 am

    FIGHTING FOR TOKYO DOME ~
its something they’ve achieved that made us fans proud, although Cassies in korea has to wait for their return ^^

  44. 56 noct-M July 3, 2009 at 10:24 am

The first Korean group, but they won’t sing Koreans apparently.

  45. 57 Nick July 3, 2009 at 10:40 am

    @noct-M
There’re 2 ways of drawing 55,000 people per day. One is through music that the audiences can communicate, and another is trough the hype of korean wave. Apparenly DBSK chooses the first choice.

  46. 58 Dottie July 3, 2009 at 11:07 am

I just want them to take care of themselves because they looked so tired in Bangkok.

  47. 59 b July 3, 2009 at 11:42 am

    @noct-M

What are you trying to say?

  48. 60 miso July 3, 2009 at 12:20 pm
