Se7en gets shipped back to Korea

se7en_hannah_20090710

…leaving RQM, Se7en’s U.S. management company, flustered and furious.

Apparently, RQM is claiming that YG Entertainment has shipped Se7en back to Korea to rake in some more KRW while they still can, since his contract with YG is slowly coming to an end. But, it’s pretty obvious that Se7en has had absolutely no immediate success in the U.S, with his most notable work only being a few club appearances, a feature on cable network BET, and his MV with Lil’ Kim. If that’s the case, then heck, even Wheesung has made more progress than Se7en, even without a U.S. management company. Wheesung’s already had two club performances in L.A., a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and another club performance coming up, all in less than a month, and he’s not even trying to debut in the U.S!

Se7en, who returned to Korea not too long ago, was reportedly going to stay in Korea and flush his U.S. career down the toilet but YG stated otherwise that Se7en had returned to Korea to take care of personal business. In addition, YG also stated that although there are no official plans for Se7en, he will still pursue his U.S. career. It looks safe to assume that this means Se7en will more than likely be signing with a new U.S. management company. Could it be, Interscope Records?! The YG guru is good friends with Jimmy Iovine of Interscope, so it doesn’t seem out of the question.

Aside from all this friction between the companies, we’re not too sure what the personal matter Se7en is dealing with at the moment is, but it seems as though it was too stressful for the popstar. Recently, a friend of Se7en’s left a message on his personal Cyworld homepage asking Se7en to pick up his phone calls because they’re worried and his company (not sure if it’s YG or RQM) is outraged. More than likely, Se7en is probably stressed over all these issues with YG and RQM, as well as his career not going too well at the moment. Hopefully, Se7en will just be able to clear everything up and announce a statement to his fans to let them know that he’s alright.

In the midst of it all, RQM seems furious for having wasted their time and effort, trying to break Se7en into the U.S. market. Seriously though, what career did he have in the states? After having managed Se7en for the past two years, they haven’t made much progress. True, two years isn’t that long, but for an aging artist, two years is definitely a long hiatus. Truthfully, at this rate, Se7en’s future looks better off in Korea or even Japan, where he has a huge fan base, eagerly waiting for his return.

RQM is currently blaming YG Entertainment for trying to “KILL” Se7en’s career by taking him back to Korea, stating

Johnny Wright, a famous manager in America is currently co-managing Se7en and was working on getting Se7en a collaboration gig with Justin Timberlake. In addition, Se7en was scheduled to make an appearance at the ‘BET Award Show’, however, YG refused all of these offers. If Se7en doesn’t return to the U.S., that means Se7en has no future plans in the U.S. market.

In response to RQM’s claims, YG denies ever wanting to ruin Se7en’s career. A representative stated,

This is the first time we’ve heard about a collaboration with Justin Timberlake and is only a part of their one-sided claim. Recently, RQM and Se7en’s contract was negotiated and ended on good terms. Se7en prepared for his career in the U.S. for the past two years. Just by taking a look at the investments and efforts we put into the project this entire time, it makes no sense to say that YG interfered with Se7en’s activities in the U.S. Also, we’ve heard nothing of this sort from RQM themselves, everything was ended on good terms and all this isn’t true. We don’t know why this ‘allkpop’ blog is spreading false news. We’re currently looking into the situation to find out the source of all this. (Cited from: Seoul Ilbo and mydaily)

This just looks like a big “he said, she said” situation. Truthfully, if you’ve knocked on a door for the past two years and it doesnt budge, it seems the smart thing to do is to stop knocking and go on your way. Johnny Wright or no Johnny Wright, two years of seeing no results in Se7en’s career, was long enough. RQM should just let Se7en go and let him return to Korea where he belongs with his fans and his girlfriend or to a different company that can make more progress. Sure, its probably painstaking to watch an artist you invested your time and money in, move on to a new company, but that is the entertainment business. It’s been way too long since fans have been able to hear new music from Se7en or see him on stage, where he shines most brightest.

There are rumors that Se7en will be returning to the U.S. but nothing has yet been confirmed. Se7en really should just stay in Korea and get his spotlight back for the time being, while they work out a new plan for the guy. He only has so many years left before his career has to take a long hiatus with his impending compulsory military duty.

What do you guys think?

He worked so hard and it all seems like its wasted now. YG are being stupid. He could have worked with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!! But then… YG seem like a reputable company… it seems odd that they would “ruin” one of their own star’s career. Who knows whats really going on behind the scenes. Either way, i like se7en but he needs to churn out some new decent music or he’ll soon be one of the forgotten in the crowd of new faces that seem to be appearing in kpop everyday

    • 3 Brian July 11, 2009 at 9:52 am

if YG is saying that they havent heard about him possibly working with TImberlake, then Im guessing RQM is only saying that to try to give themselves leverage

      • 4 Just tryin' to give you some perspective July 11, 2009 at 1:36 pm

I agree. I find it odd that YG would try to ruin their own person, considering they’d be getting in the way of their own (the companies) fame and sucess. He’d bring in even more money for them.

I think it makes more since that the American group woul dlie about it becuase of the fact that,w ell, Se7en may not seem as marketable and they probably put him on the backburner. I mean, TWO YEARS and he hadn’t done a lot of interviews, come out with a CD or collabed with bigger artist. I’ve seen foreign groups/bands make more progress in half that time.

        • 5 Just tryin' to give you some perspective July 11, 2009 at 1:37 pm

…sorry about the name. has nothing to do with this post. haha.

        • 6 cubana4life July 12, 2009 at 1:52 am

True, i think Se7en should just iron out his personal reasons for being back, go have fun with his girlfriend, and just jump into the korean spotlight! he is too good to jump into the US market for 2years and not do much.

while he’s in korea, YG could think of a new plan for Se7en going into the US market. If anything, he can just go to Japan while waiting. And this would give him time to have a better relationship with his girlfriend…i mean, she deserves to see him too, he can’t be in the US and not see his girlfriend for long periods of time. maybe that’s part of the reason he came back..but who knows? as long as he is healthy and well he’ll be fine.

        • 7 lady July 12, 2009 at 6:15 am

Yeah look at the Wonder Girls. they’ve made more progress in a very sort time since their US debut-already tiuring with Jonas Bros.. Big named artist. Poor Se7en.

  2. 10 yo July 11, 2009 at 9:33 am

It seems like RQM is trying to come up with these fake projects to make it seem like Se7en has really been doing stuff in the US for two years, when in reality, he has made very little progress with his career there. If YG claims that this whole Timberlake deal is brand new, I believe them–there’s no way they would turn that down or forget about it, considering how popular Se7en would be after such a gig or appearance, because that would totally transfer to his status in Korea too. Maybe all Se7en needs is a chance to show RQM what they’re missing while he’s in Korea, and then they will actually propose projects to him. Or, you know, he can get his career back in Korea and stick with that.

  3. 11 The Truth July 11, 2009 at 9:41 am

hes so irrelevant in korea rite now.. i dont kno if he’ll ever recover.. and the truth is.. theres no future for him in america.. give up on it..

  4. 12 ANNA7 July 11, 2009 at 10:09 am

` i love you se7en. but seriously, you got nothing going on with the american industries. at least not with rqm. even boa did better than you. i know its a bit shameful to come back to korea without much progress, but still. we want you back in the entertainment business.

  5. 13 juiceyrain July 11, 2009 at 10:10 am

now is a good chance to marry his love! … i miss the old se7en though… What ever he does, I hope he is successful and happy :)

  6. 14 ANNA7 July 11, 2009 at 10:10 am

` ALSO: youre new style is hot. keep it up! swagger is what i like ;)

  7. 15 Beckbeck July 11, 2009 at 10:11 am

Se7en should just leave YG. Same with Gummy, Jinusean, Masta Wu’s group, Moogadang and 1TYM. Obviously he’s putting off his older veteran artists who made me originally love the YG Family label artists but no, he’s too busy sucking money off from Big Bang and 2NE1.

    • 16 252 July 12, 2009 at 2:44 am

wth those artists arent on the backburner, have you ever thought what they have been doing?
those artists you mentioned are all ADULTS they cant perform nonstop and pull good music out of their ass whenever they want unlike younger idol groups. At this point in life for them they probably want to create great music and enjoy their private life more.
Gummy= has been spending the last year working on her mom’s album and her own album. plus she’s probably been giving 2ne1 vocal training/tips once in awhile
Jinusean= First Sean is a happily married man with a busy actress wife and THREE young kids, one of them is a newborn. he doesnt have time to sit down, ignore the outside world, and work only on his music. Next, Jinu got divorced some time ago, and seeing how lovely the couple use to be, it must’ve been really hard on him. but it seems like he’s getting back together and working behind the scenes as of now, heck he was even on an ep of YGTVlive. for rite now it seems like he’s busy enough making sure Big Bang and 2NE1 activities are going good.
YMGA=just released an album last fall and it was great. its only been half a year. they are human too, they need to relax, work on their own style of music at their own rate.
Moogadang= originally a PROJECT group, which means to just get together some friend artists and create fun songs because they can.
1TYM= Teddy is still trying to find himself as a producer/songwriter/composer and once he gets a grip on doing this he can be a better artists and write great music for his group. Jinhwan got out of army service around december, give him some time to come back to the real world which he missed out for TWO years. Taebin has been working on his next album but it seems that he wants to make a great album and working on its musicality. BK has been hidden but probably been busy find the artist in him, proven by the pics he’s been taking. Plus he’s probably working on making his own music too.

as you can see everyone has been busy they aren’t idols like Big Bang and 2NE1. the reason Big bang is being promoted so much is that they are somewhat self sufficient as GD and TOP write many of their songs and TY & SR grasp choreography much easier and teach the members the routine faster. Daesung has been bringing on the popularity by doing family. Yg hasnt even begun promoting 2ne1 that much, they’ve only been out for a couple of months. Atleast he’s doing a better job in promoting the girls that Big Bang when they first debuted. Hell atleast the girls are widely recognized and quickly accomplished many feats, while it took Big Bang an entire year to get recognized.

    • 17 lady July 12, 2009 at 6:18 am

I agree. I thin Se7en would be better off with another management co. both in Korea and the US.

  8. 18 Anna July 11, 2009 at 10:13 am

Since Se7en’s contract is ending soon I hope he leaves YG for good. You can’t expect RQM to handle every single thing. At least with SM and JYP it seems like they’re taking care of their artists every step of the way but YG literally just shipped him off. About the Interscope thing, it’s probably not going to happen since the guy was so “amazed” by CL only. I was really disappointed when YG didn’t try and push Se7en towards Interscope at all. That would have been a great opportunity to get connected to other artists and producers. I have lost all respect for YG, all the decisions he has been making recently are really retarded. If he really wanted Se7en to succeed he would’ve done everything he could to get Se7en gigs and more PR opps. rather than relying on RQM. I heard from people who spoke to RQM reps at Se7en gigs that they did have other things lined up for him, but it was YG who was turning these opportunities down and not giving them enough freedom to sign Se7en to some events. Even though the WG and BoA are signed to CAA, SM and JYP still try to find other ways to promote their artists. Se7en is talented. If he had the right mentality, focus and management he could possibly cause some stir in the American market. He really just needs the right attention.

    • 19 cubana4life July 12, 2009 at 1:57 am

maybe YG needs to talk to JYP for help, he does have the Wonder Girls on tour with the Jonas Brothers! that’s HUGE!

SM could help YG and Se7en come out with an album, and possibly help by letting Se7en appear in some of BoA’s songs…maybe even help him get some concert gigs like BoA and Wonder Girls!

    • 20 haha July 12, 2009 at 8:54 am

Right… but JYP is so busy pushing the Wonder Girls in the US, he puts artists such as Lim Jeoung Hee, G-Soul, on the back burner. JLim was suppose to debut in the US, too. 2AM is still reletivly a rookie group, but doesn’t get much attention as 2PM.

      • 21 cubana4life July 13, 2009 at 5:50 am

Yeah, but as soon as WG gets in it’ll be 10x easier to get JLim into the US.

You’re completely right about the 2AM & 2PM issue. I LOVE 2PM, but i don’t hear much of 2AM. They sound good from the news i heard.

  9. 22 se7enissosexy July 11, 2009 at 10:17 am

its okay se7en… I still love you.. ;) now is your chance to settle down and make cute babies lol..

  10. 23 As July 11, 2009 at 10:44 am

    @Anna

I agree with your post. Also, YG hardly invested into Se7en’s debut.. (and you know how he’s loaded from profits of Big Bang & 2NE1).

  11. 24 Dovey July 11, 2009 at 10:48 am

Honestly, I don’t really care, and what he chooses to be doing from here on out, let it happen.

  12. 25 li1destiny July 11, 2009 at 10:50 am

Although i love him to be in the US, but he’s not ment to be here. I mean i rarely sees news about him and seeing being active other then the seattle concert and the mv.

  13. 26 hee tae July 11, 2009 at 11:06 am

    love him! sooo great!

  14. 27 littlemisscindy July 11, 2009 at 11:11 am

Okay, I love Se7en and his music. I was wishing that Se7en could be the first real Asian artist to make it but there was a part of me that knew that was wishful thinking. American media can be very bias at times. I really do hope he has a chance. Who knows only time will tell how these things will work out. I hope everything gets cleared up. Either way, in Korea or the US, I will keep supporting him and his music.

  15. 28 seoulli July 11, 2009 at 11:24 am

i think that se7en should continue to try to make it in the U.S. he can become very successful and he does already have fans here, I think it would be wise for him to get more people to advertise his album because what he’s doing now is not good enough, the same goes for BOA and the WONDER GIRLS.

  16. 29 Akamekraze July 11, 2009 at 11:27 am

I hope he doesn’t get too stressed out! It sounds sad for me to hear even though I’ve never a huge fan!

  17. 30 Just come clean July 11, 2009 at 11:43 am

People are just too delusional! He has no chance to make it or create a stir (as some ppl think)in the US. Let the man stay in Korea and do what he is good at! He needs to be on stage and recreate the buzz.

His fans in Asia have been silently supporting him while he was in the US and this war between RQM & YG is not helping at all. Some fans have already left due to the inactivity of his US venture. He needs to rebuild and so called start from ground zero in Korea.

The previous scandal with PHB has damaged his standing and he needs to win back his fans with his music not just talk about whatever could have happened in the US. YG needs to come clean with what’s going on and let Se7en get on with what he loves doing. I love the man and it hurts to see his career going down the tubes! I’m sure there are others who feel the same way.

  18. 31 haku July 11, 2009 at 11:48 am

he should just stay in korea. sorry, but hes not making it in the US.

  19. 32 k July 11, 2009 at 11:58 am

he’s like that Mina chick that was suppose to be Lil Jon’s protoge (ha like he even matters anymore), high hopes but substantial down-fall.

  20. 33 huh July 11, 2009 at 12:09 pm

how many times have i said americans don’t like asians?? get a clue!

    • 34 e1leen0nt0fu July 11, 2009 at 12:40 pm

I wouldn’t say Americans dislike Asians. A significant (midwest?) portion of the US probably has never seen an Asian person, except on TV or whatever. It’s more like some people don’t understand Asians I think because the cultures are really different.

      • 35 Joli007 July 11, 2009 at 2:41 pm

I really REALLY don’t think its an issue with race.
The problem with places like Japan, Korea, and China is that they all have a load of singers who want to make it big in the U.S. They have thousands of fans and hype in their homeland, leading them to believe that they might have the same success overseas.
But the issue is, especially with Korean artists looking to survive the jump, a lot of the music these artists are trying to get famous with has already been done here. For example: the Hip-Hop and R&B community already have tons of singers/dancers/rappers. And they all start to sound the same after awhile–using autotune, and voiceboxes and relying on their beats more than they rely on their own musical ability. And its THIS music that the Asian industries are using as inspiration. Sure, the music we hear here in the states is probably unique in a place like Korea, but a Korean star like Rain, who specializes in this kind of music in Korea, trying to debut with the same stuff over here…thats just like throwing everything thats already been done back in our faces. We don’t need a carbon copy of a carbon copy when we’ve already got tons on American soil. So while I love Se7en, Rain, and all the others that are trying to make it in the states, their music is different and mindblowing IN KOREA. But whatever they’re trying to give us now is totally whack. Americans have a totally different perspective on “talent” than Koreans do. Really think about it–does BoA’s voice sound nearly as good on her engrish track as it does on her Korean or Japanese tracks? Is Se7en’s American music original? Is Rain a better singer than Justin Timberlake or Usher? They just aren’t special enough to an American audience to leave a lasting impression.

        • 36 Yeah Yeah Yeah July 12, 2009 at 9:47 am

          I agree ^^

Who wants to have a carbon copy of a carbon copy of another artist? Especially here in America you’ll be labeled more than a posuer here if you think just a good beat, dance and swagger that can match Justin Timberlake and looking good in a torn watered down shirt, will make a you big star here.

        • 37 Blue July 13, 2009 at 4:16 am

Agree with Joli007. I think it’s a cop-out to chalk BoA and Se7en’s inability to make inroads into the U.S. market up to racism.

  21. 38 ♫ tQaamEr-u-oh~ ♫ hontouni sugOi!!! July 11, 2009 at 12:16 pm

  22. 39 Poor You July 11, 2009 at 12:39 pm

I’m sorry Se7en. I love you and all, but I don’t think you have what it takes to make it big here.

RQM, I don’t know about you. It seems like you feel you’ve done all you can to help Se7en succeed, but have you really? In these past two years, what have you really done for Se7en? Up until BoA announced her entrance into the American market, I had never heard of Se7en doing anything. Seriously, is that the best you can do?

Personally, Se7en should just leave both companies as neither put him as priority. YG is too busy promoting Big Bang and RQM obviously doesn’t care much for him. He’s better off finding an agency that really wants him to succeed.

  23. 40 sup July 11, 2009 at 12:48 pm

he should just stay in Korea. ALL korean artists should just market themselves around Asia and Asia only. Because honestly and sadly, it will never end in true success for an Asian singer that wants to cross over to the American market. The chances of the Wondergirls, are too, very very slim and i think they have the highest chance compare to others. Just ship all of them back to their homeland and make moves on dominating other asian markets first.

  24. 41 krikri July 11, 2009 at 12:53 pm

i think this babe should just stay in Korea for the time being…
    it’s just my opinion though…
like it’s been about 2-3 years now that he’s been gone and before that he was a BIG hit in Korea and japan!
besides some of his fans here in American are underage and whenever he does a party promotion they never get to go because it’s usually takes place in clubs…like me!
    lol…which is obviously not KOOL!
anyways i hope whatever decision he makes won’t hurt his career and most importantly HIMSELF!!..^^
supporting se7en all the way, no matter what he chooses!..^^

  25. 43 DBSJSHINee July 11, 2009 at 1:23 pm

Hmm, eventhough BoA debuted in late 2008 in US, I think she made more progress then him.
I’ve never actually heard much about Se7en since he went to the US.
YG now is so busy promoting Big Bang and 2NE1 to bother much about him.
He should just come back to Korea or Japan.

  26. 44 lalala July 11, 2009 at 1:47 pm

at least he hs a hot girlfriend? lol
idk its REALLY HARD to break into the us music industry for asians, i really dont know any asian in mainstream, in fact idk any except maybe yoyoma cellist, but yea boa justt just her foot a little in the door, i think Se7en needs to up his fan base in Asia more b4 he does more stuff internationally..

  27. 45 Jasmine July 11, 2009 at 2:29 pm

He’s better off in Korea, IMO. He can try and try to appeal and breakthrough in the U.S. music business… but, it looks too far fetched if you ask me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Se7en’s music and all and I think he’s hot as hell… But, I’m also a realist.

People keep mentioning that he succeeded by making it onto BET… that his video made it on the actual countdown… but, seriously who are we trying to kid? It wasn’t the regular BET audience that called, texted, etc and voted him in. It was the people who already knew of him that did the majority of the work.

So, if this “rumor” that YG is not planning on bringing Se7en back to the U.S. is true… than kudos to YG for making a smart decision. Instead of having him waste his time here, he should concentrate on his home base. However, in the meantime, also work to better himself in order to “appeal” more to the American audience. And when I say “American audience,” I don’t mean the fans that he already has here.

  28. 46 rose.h.m July 11, 2009 at 3:15 pm

se7en should try other country instead of U.S of America. He could start his stepping stone in the UK and could be famous first in Europe or in ALL ASIA countries, bcoz fans tend to know him as an actor (esp. in Prince Hours)then as a singer (he’s well-known in S.E.Asia and the middle-east countries bcoz of that show).

  29. 47 felisshi July 11, 2009 at 3:28 pm

What has he been doing in the States for the past 2 years? If he had stayed in Korea, he could have made a film or a Korean drama series and most probably another CD for sure and could have raked in lots of moolah. Also he could have become more popular and he could also have the chance to promote his drama series and CD to other Asian countries where he is well known and very popular. He wasted 2 years for nothing. He is talented and he has a large fan base in other Asian countries aside from Korea. I hope he realized this.

  30. 48 I'm Just Saying... July 11, 2009 at 4:27 pm

I like Se7en, and I think he’s great and all. The truth of the matter is, he ain’t making very much progress over here in the US. I think he should stay in Korea and have a great big comeback like Rain did with Rainism. I think he should concentrate on making all of his original fans fall in love with them. To tell you the truth, while I do think Se7en is great, I was never one of his biggest fans.

One of the things I’ve noticed about Korean music, it seems to resemble a lot of music in the US. Of course there are some real differences, but the similarities are still there.

As for YG, I think they’re really busy with 2NE1 and Big Bang. I can kind of understand where they’re coming from. Big Bang & 2NE1 are pulling in the bucks, & Se7en is not. Thats not a reason to completely give up on him. YG is getting ready to promote Big Bang in Japan, and 2NE1 is getting really popular.

The guy has real talent. I don’t think this is the end for him. Even if the contract w/ YG doesn’t get renewed, he’ll be back.

As far as other artists go, I think JYP hit a jackpot when he put the Wonder Girls on tour with the Jonas Brothers. I doubt the WG will hit it big in the US, but I think they’re making a name for themselves. I can see them getting big with Disney.

I think BoA’s due for a comeback. I don’t the American train going anywhere for her either. One thing I do like is that SM is still trying to get her out there. SM doesn’t really have that much to worry about b/c they have TVXQ, who really embody their name.

  31. 49 kimeunna July 11, 2009 at 4:49 pm

    seriously,
it had all been all talk but what exactly happened,
    we wouldnt know too ..

    what RQM said,
they don seem to have any documents to support it as well ..

so all i can say is,
YG will know what to do with Se7en.

  32. 50 Heartbreak July 11, 2009 at 5:03 pm

such a waste….he could’ve worked wit JT….*sigh* y does this keep happening? first boa then rain then seven……oh my damn

  33. 51 spazifuwantto July 11, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Just because se7en was under RQM management with Johnny Wright doesn’t mean he’ll have quick success. the American music market is big but also close net.Mr.YG or YG Entertainment wouldn’t invest in Se7en career then try to hold him back once arriving to the states. That makes no sense at all. RQM or Korean Kpop blogs are claiming an action that shows malice business behavior from YG Entertainment.

Se7en best bet is to return to Korea and rearrange a few things in his life and rebuild what is left of his music career. If his contract has ended with RQM then that is a good thing. Spending two years in the US isn’t enough time but RQM should have put in more effort. They can blame it on YG but while Se7en was in Korea they did represent him better and he was successful.RQM can not claim that over all they were unable to handle se7en career. They are full of s-t. sound like RQM were the ones that didn’t take the time to invest in se7en.

Se7en can only do so much but he can not be responsible if his management has a lack of confidence. That falls back on RQM which is placing the heat on YG. Neither companies want kpop blog sites to drag their name through the mud nor se7en. I wouldn’t be surprise if RQM and Yg seek out lawsuit after finding out who is the source for this madness.

I keep for getting that South Korea has men serve military as mandatory. Good Luck to se7en hopefully he’ll come back to the states with better management. If se7en is passionate about coming here (US) and is determine to become successful then he needs to look at this as a minor set back. Take more time to investigate better management that will have the confidence to represent him to jump start his career,

Se7en is wasting the time by having a debut in U.S.
    yeah
korean and japan are more important to his future career compare with U.S!
he earned nothing there, neither a success nor billboard chart.

When will Korea Agency stop dreaming about U.S debut for their singers?

U.S. already has Justin Timberlake and Usher,
they don’t need same thing like Se7en or Rain.
just back to your homeland you two!

finally this was put up. anyway for those who say that yg never heard about the johnny wright thing. johnny wright said it himself he wanted to work with se7en. they had plans to make a remix of the song girls and what not.

if most of his fans knew about the rumor collab with justin timberlake how can yg said they did not know. did they not know or did not pay much attention?

    • 54 123456se7en July 11, 2009 at 11:28 pm

anyway i think se7en should still try it in the usa. we all know he dont have a management now it will be impossible to get anywhere. :(

Management is NOT THE PROBLEM. Lack of Originality is.
Americans do not NEED an Asian JT will already have JT!!!!

  37. 56 miira-chaan July 12, 2009 at 12:23 am

he should release a new album…
then wait again, for the right time to make it big in the U.S..what’s the rush??.

    • 57 cubana4life July 13, 2009 at 5:51 am

aging and military time is the rush…but it sounds like a good plan…except that he needs to serve his military duty.

  38. 58 yunjae-thelove; July 12, 2009 at 2:27 am

i kinda agree if his career with RQM is not working well,he shld just go to another company that will promote him and give him all the help he needed.
its pointless if he stayed on without any progress or with this rate of slow progress.
i hope YG takes good care of this matter and the man too.
it sounds kinda serious that even his friend has to comment on his blog to ask him to pick up his calls.
good luck to se7en and stay positive ^^!

I’m really feel sad about your comments guys……WE REALLY DON’T KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPENED WHOSE WHO? BLAMING….YOU HAVE TO REALIZE THAT IN A BUSINESS ITS REALLY HARD TO MANAGE AND THERE’S A LOT OF RISKS….ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY IS A BIG BUSINESS INDUSTRY….YOU INVESTS AND EXPECT TO GET UR INVESTMENT….THINK IF UR IN THE POSITION OF MR YG…HE INVESTED A LOT FOR SEVEN IN RQM….DO U THINK HE WILL ALLOW THAT HE WON’T GAIN HIS INVESTMENT OR EVEN JUST THROW ALL THE MONEY HE INVESTED…IF I AM THE MANAGER AND THE OWNER OF YG COMPANY I WON’T EVEN ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN….YES YG GAVE IT RISK FOR 2 YEARS JUST TO THINK HE WILL GAIN OR NOT IF NOT THEN HE’LL GET ANOTHER STRATEGY I MYSELF WILL DO THAT ALSO IF MY TALENTED ARTIST WILL FAIL AT THE RISK I TOOK AS A MANAGER AND OWNER I WON’T EVEN GIVE UP MY TALENTED ARTIST BECAUSE I NEED TO BRING BACK THE MONEY I INVESTED TO A FOREIGN COMPANY….BRINGING BACK MY ARTIST IN THE LAND WERE HE EVEN GOT A LOT OF INVESTMENT….I KNOW MR YG IS DOING THAT STRATEGY…HE BRINGS BACK SEVEN AS HIS ARTIST HE KNOWS THAT ITS NOT RIGHT TIME FOR HIM IN US ENTERTAINMENT AND HE WON’T RISK HIS POPULAR AND TALENTED ARTIST JUST WASTE A LOT MORE YEARS FOR HIS OWN TALENT JUST FALLING DOWN……A MANAGER DOESN’T WANT TO FALL HIS OWN INVESTMENT DOWN WHY SHOULD HE RUIN HIS ARTIST CAREER. I THINK YG DID SOME WRONG DECISSIONS TO HAVE AN AGREEMENT IN RQM…AND BUSINESS IS REALLY A RISK TAKING IF U DON’T TAKE A RISK YOU WON’T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN….THAT’S WHY I THINK HE PULLED OUT SEVEN BECAUSE HIS DECISSIONS HE MADE WAS BAD AND HE HAVE TO GO TO ANOTHER TACTICS HOW TO BRING BACK WHAT HE LOST. I THINK YG DON’T REALLY DOESN’T CARE ON SEVEN, MR YG IS REALLY SMART LETTING HIS ONE OF HIS TALENTED ARTIST GO DOWN…HE KNOWS WHAT HE WILL TO SEVEN AND I KNOW HIS PLANS IS TO GET SEVENS FEET BACK STAND AGAIN AND I KNOW MR YG REALLY CARES A LOT FOR SEVEN NOT JUST ONLY 2NE1 AND BIGBANG…….IF RQM REALLY IS TELLING THE TRUTH WHY IS SEVENS NOT IMPROVED HIS POPULARITY IN US….I DOUBT THAT IT’S YG’S FAULT I THINK RQM IS WASHING HIS OWN DIRT…..Y BOA AND WG DID IMPROVE MORE CAREER IN THE US THAN SEVEN ITS BECAUSE THE FOREIGN COMPANY (THAT SM ENT. OR EVEN JYP ENT. LET THEM BORROWED THEIR OWN ARTIST TO THESE US ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY’S, LET THESE COMPANY’S DO THE WORK BECAUSE THEY KNOW MORE ABOUT THE US MARKET THAN SM OR EVEN JYPE DO ITS OWN WAY) HAS ITS OWN POWER TO DECIDE AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO MAKE AND PLANS ALL THE PROJECTS FOR THE ARTIST AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO DEALS FOR PROMOS AND OTHER TACTICS….IT’S RQM’S RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF SEVEN’S CAREER IN THE US CO’Z THEY KNOW US MARKET MUCH BETTER THAN YG COMPANY…IT’S 2 YEARS OF WASTE, YES HE IS THE 1ST ONE TO STEP AND TRY TO US THAN BOA AND WG BUT Y BOA AND WG’S CAREER IMPROVED MUCH AND STEPPED MUCH STEP THAN SEVEN…..RQM MUST BE BLAMED FOR THAT…..HEY I AM NOT CONNECTED WITH YG I’M JUST THINKING AND TELLING MY OWN VIEWS BECAUSE I GRADUATED 4 YEARS DEGREE MAJOR IN ENTREPRENEURHIP MANAGEMENT SO I KNEW HOW HARD TO MANAGE A WHOLE COMPANY WITH A BIG MARKET TO TARGET..AS A MANAGEMENT ALUMNI, I’VE TUDIED 4 YEARS FOR MANAGEMENT SO I KNOW HOW HARD TO DEAL IN MANAGING A BIG COMPANY….JUST DON’T MAKE OTHER JUDGEMENT GUYS COZ U DON’T REALLY HAVE THE RIGHT SAY THOSE THINGS BECAUSE UR NOT EVEN HAD INCLUDED IN THE SITUATION THAT HAPPENED TO YG OR EVEN RQM JUST LET THEM DO THEIR OWN BUSINESS AND MOVE ON…

And seven give yg a chance you really don’t know what mr yg good plans have to you…just give him a shot and give him a chance to bring back what he risk for yes he did a big mistake decision but you have to give mr yg a chance to make it up to you….don’t mind those people here or even media we fans knows ur a VERY TALENTED ARTIST LIKE RAIN…BOTH U AND RAIN ARE THE MOST TALENTEDPERSONS IN KPOP INDUSTRY… don’t feel pitty for ur selves coz no one can be like u…ur the only talented seven we knew and we loved….korea and japan will always love you they won’t even forget you because whatever mistakes that happened in us it just stays in us i know 100% sure that ur popularity never even changed coz everyone always and still waiting for you to comeback and u will make them even blow them at ur new performnce when you comeback in kpop industry….i don’t think ur career is falling it still in the track and always in the track…UR SEVEN RIGHT YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING RIGHT JUST BELIEVE WHAT U CAN DO AND DON’T MING IDIOT PEOPLE WHO JUST GOSSIP ABOUT UR CAREER….UV GOT LOTSTO OFFER THERESNO END IN PERFORMANCE EVEN WHEN U GET OLDER…..COMPARE MICHAEL JACKSON EVEN HE DISSAPEAR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND NEVER EVEN HAD THE CHANCE TO PERFORM AGAIN STILL PEOPLE REMEMBERS AND CHERISH HIM….I ALSO COMPARE U TO HIM EVEN U DISSAPPEAR AND CAME BACK U WILL STILL HAVE THEIR RESPECT AND TRUST AND BELIEVE AS A GOOD ARTIST BECUASE WHAT I SAID M.J WERE LOVED BECAUSE OF HIS TALENTS AND HIS WORK AND PEOPLE WILL LOVE UR TALENTS AND UR WORK EVEN IF YEARS HAVE PAST THEYY AND I WILL STILL CHERISH AND LOVE UR PERFORMANCE.

    STAY IN KOREA!
One thing about Se7ens American Debut song… was that… it was a total different vibe from the Se7en that i liked. I just think… he needs to return back to SK or Japan.. to reclaim what he has…
I bet he is feeling a lilo down… cause he wasn’t able to receive the success he was hoping for.
I hope this didn’t bring him down T__T
He still has a lot of Fans!

  42. 62 123456Se7en July 12, 2009 at 3:12 am

please ignore my bad grammar :D

most successful music artists in the usa it took them more than 2 years to become famous and to become who they are now. it is not just music artists took many actors and actresses years to become successful. it wont be only two years and se7en will become famous in the usa. it will take wayyy longer for things to get better. it would not been good for rqm to release se7en full album when it would had only sold like 4k copies because people in the usa dont know him much.

finding the right connections take along time. so for me i think rqm was doing a good job with what they was provided. having se7en signed to rqm is alot better than him not being signed to nothing and not getting nowhere. se7en was gaining some steps in the usa it was very slow but somethings was happening. he only released one single so he had like another good 3 or more songs which could had helped him.

looking at someone like jamie foxx who first album he had did not do good until he came back some years later and did collabs with artists that was known. only after he had a good 4 collabs that he released that second album and it did good.

i dont really know the truth but if yg expected rqm to release his full album and for se7en to be so popular in the usa that was not going to happen in 2 years. some people are more lucky than others. if se7en want to be successful in the usa it will take many tries.

so for me i think se7en should return to the usa.

  43. 63 HANBAAGAA July 12, 2009 at 3:35 am

For selfish reasons I would love for Se7en to resume making music in Korea and just drop the whole US plan. I think “Korean” Se7en is phenomenal. Se7en’s American efforts, on the other hand, left me cold, especially knowing how awesome he was in Korea.

If Se7en still wants to give the US a try, then it is what it is, but I don’t think he should overlook the importance of maintaining what he built up in Korea, Japan, etc. Just from a practical standpoint I think taking this opportunity to focus on his career in Asia would be a good thing. He’s been away for 2-3 years, during which time new acts have popped up and will continue to do so. Trying to branch out is fine, but you want to make sure to maintain your original fanbase as well.

Supposedly YG said no activities in Asia are planned at this time. Not sure that’s a good idea. But maybe that’s because no activities are planned at all… sounds like Se7en may be having a tough time of it. Maybe he’s not interested in performing anywhere for the time being.

  44. 64 coffy73 July 12, 2009 at 5:00 am

Se7en’s fanbase is in asia and that’s where he should totally concentrate, same with Boa and others. The music he was making here was horrible and it has nothing to do with the US management company, the songwriters, or producers. Se7en’s voice would never make it in the US r&b scene, it’s too soft and not all that good. His range is terrible. Seven’s best bet is to do like most asian artists, totally focus your career in asia and come over to the US/Canada to do little concerts and performances for your fans in this region.

  45. 65 seoulroks July 12, 2009 at 5:45 am

u guys r wrong, Se7en, BoA and the others should stay in the US and continue their projects. if Obama’s dad would have stayed in africa there would be no “President Barack Obama” no history made, no real hope for black ppl in america. The same goes for asia, mixing is good, we all share one world, we are are all humans right? look at Michael Jackson…

    HWAITING SE7EN~!!

I think Se7en should sign under JYP once his contract is up with YG. JYP will get him working in the US and Korea.

    • 69 haha July 12, 2009 at 7:14 am

JYP will be too busy with the Wonder Girls. Whatever happen to his plans for Lim Jeong Hee to debut in the US??

      • 70 lady July 12, 2009 at 9:22 am

Every artist is not cut out to debut in the US. Se7en has what it takes and has already been here and knows the ropes and has a few connections.

        • 71 coffy73 July 12, 2009 at 10:58 am

The WGs are certainly not cut out to debut in america. The touring that they’re doing with JoBros. are definitely not making any new fans, if anything, they’re making more haters. Se7en doesn’t have the voice to stand out, especially in the r&b scene. Now maybe he has a better chance in the pop realm, but I’m not even sure about that.

          • 72 HANBAAGAA July 12, 2009 at 2:34 pm

I see some people saying Se7en doesn’t have the singing chops to cut it here in the US.

Of course we know that there are plenty of American singers (r&b or otherwise) whose voices aren’t the greatest — fame and popularity isn’t just about talent. So not having the best voice wouldn’t automatically be a hindrance.

But I don’t even think that’s an issue because I actually think Se7en is a genuinely talented singer. Matter of opinion I guess, but one of the things that impressed me most about Se7en when I started to check him out was his voice, actually, and what a strong singer he’d become. He’s seen marked improvement over the years, has become very consistent in his live performances, and has a smooth, versatile voice that works equally well in ballads, upbeat tracks, and yes, imo r&b (but then there are 50 different ways you can do r&b).

But like anyone else his voice does have its particularities and (as “Girls”, “Your Number”, etc., show) you can’t just slap any old generic song to his voice and have it work, and I don’t think the American producers he’s recently worked with (i.e. DarkChild, whose work I usually love) did a good job matching the music to his voice. They just kind of shoe-horned him into a generic r&b style and yeah, it didn’t work.

I will agree that a strictly r&b style perhaps isn’t the way to go. Definitely prefer the pop/r&b hybrid that we saw in his Korean music and image.

Still, to my mind Se7en is every bit as capable as American artists, if not more. He has genuine talent, which is not always the case here in America or elsewhere.

  48. 73 Editor July 12, 2009 at 7:34 am

Wow, gee two whole years and nothing? Most people would work at least five to ten years developing their music and building a fanbase. Two years boo hoo. That’s the problem with these “musicians” today, they have no work ethic and they expect to be million-sellers on day one. If they actually understood music then they would know it takes work. Oh well, at least he can come back and sell soft drinks and make appearances on variety comedy shows. No talent or work ethic needed for that.

    • 74 123456Se7en July 12, 2009 at 7:44 am

well i dont think se7en is to blame with this. yg did not renew the contract with rqm so it is there lost. now he dont have no management in the usa

    • 76 lady July 12, 2009 at 9:25 am

I think the issue with some idols is that they are already fafous in Jorea and other Asian countries and don’t want to put in the time to really build a fan base and basically start over in the US. They thin that they can just come in and they are an instant celebrity-NOT.

    • 77 HANBAAGAA July 12, 2009 at 2:55 pm

You make a good point. Not only might it take 5-10 years, but that’s 5-10 years of hustling — non-stop touring, no matter how big or small the venue — and tireless self-promotion. I still don’t think RQM was a good fit, because they should have had Se7en working his behind off the way any newcomer would. Who knows… maybe Se7en and/or YG didn’t want to go that route. RQM also seemed to lack a certain polish and professionalism in some aspects that makes me think that parting ways was a good decision. Se7en’s image, music, and presentation under their direction weren’t the best either, to put it mildly.

On another note Se7en has never struck me as lazy or lacking in work ethic. I think he’s willing to work hard, but at the same time, I wouldn’t expect him to stay here for 10 years hoping to make it. I don’t think it’s worth it. He has a career waiting at home to tend to. I’m assuming he and YG considered how much time they were willing to put into this endeavor…?
