Infinity Challenge tackles celebrity duets

Will your eardrums bleed? Maybe from Noh Hong-chul.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and the one above perfectly sums up what went down on the most recent episode of MBC Infinity Challenge. Each of the seven members of the Infinity Challenge crew was paired up with a wide range of famous musical artists, and given the task of creating an enthralling summer song to culminate in a stage concert for half a crowd. Here are the results of their hard toil~

Teaming up with Tiger JK and Yoon Mi-rae (aka Tasha), MC Yoo Jae-suk bring a power packed performance of “Let’s Dance” as Future Liger. Honestly, for all the flack that he gets for being a lovable dweeb, MC Yoo pulls off the look so well, and unleashes a surprising level of stage charisma.

As the “Prince of the Sea,” Park Myung-soo embraces the marine concept with Girls Generation’s Jessica, who Park Myung-soo has played before for their parody of “Gee.” His usual stern angry man persona was tempered by this saccharine performance of the song “Cold Noodles.” It’s actually quite cute to watch because Jessica just goes on with her bubbly SNSD stage charisma, and Park Myung-soo stiffens up out of blushing embarrassment.

Currently the most “hated” member, Gil surprisingly brings the most legit performance out of the seven with only minor gags. If you didn’t know that Infinity Challenge added a new member, Gil recently joined this April and is a part of hip hop duo Leessang. Collaborating with Yoon Do-hyun Band, Gil rocks out to “I’m Cool.”

In collaboration with PE eye candy After School, “ugly” frontman Jung Joon-ha showcases his suave and manly charm with song “Spring Chicken Soup.” Having proven that he is a more than capable crooner in the previous Big BangHaru Haru” parody, Jung Joon-ha just hams it up, as the girls are primarily just used as pretty back-up dancers.

Speaking of ham, Jung Hyung-don brings us a fun summer song by the title of “BBQ,” alongside a goofily dressed Epik High. Although “BBQ” is fairly catchy, the song isn’t that super exciting for me, but the performance is definitely amusing as they use a plethora of props that just get left on the stage randomly.

As the most obnoxious (yet somehow irresistibly charming) member, Noh Hong-chul does not sing because he really can’t, but he gets to yell his freakin’ heart out for the song “The Heat Gull“ with ska/punk rock band, No Brain. Although it’s kind of cacophonous, Noh Hong-chul and No Brain vocalist Lee Seong-woo share a surprisingly tight dynamic. It’s fun to watch them yell and work off each other.

Sex sells, my friend, and that is exactly Jun Jin and pop diva Lee Jung-hyun have embraced with their scintillating performance of “Senorita.” This is my personal favorite performance because it is SO hard to look away and it was a pretty flawless all the way. As “Charisma,” they exude bucket loads of it, as well as a lot of oversexed dancing. Eat your heart out, rest of Infinity Challenge crew, you ain’t getting a piece of the techno dance queen.

As the winner of the whole competition, MC Yoo’s “Let’s Dance” was able to receive the MV, which pays homage to MC Yoo’s variety/reality program, Family Outing, as well as 2NE1 and Big Bang’s “Lollipop” MV for LG Cyon.
