Wondergirls’ Sunmi has a hard knock life

Sunmi_090714

Sunmi of the Wondergirls recently shared her thoughts on her life in America on her fan cafe. The red-haired (not natural) member confessed that life was difficult in America since she doesn’t know what is going on most of the time and doesn’t know where what begins or ends. She thinks that she can survive each day but each day brings new challenges.

So basically, girl is crying out for sympathy from her fans. Of course she will get it…but will that be enough to help her though the rest of the tour?

We bet she has no idea what’s going on because of her Engrish skills…..

I can sympathize with her because I felt like that when we first moved to america lol like wtf is going onn :]]]

  5. 7 emma July 15, 2009 at 1:19 am

yeah,I have also have a feeling that this site doesn’t like wg. Well, it’s naturally that you feel that way when you come to a new country. Why even critize something obvious? :p

  6. 9 mrs jay July 15, 2009 at 1:26 am

    go girl…
ur Engrish skills can be improved…
    w/evr, jus be ur self…
it’s ok if ur Engrish skills is bad…
    lurve u…

  7. 10 KuchiQ July 15, 2009 at 2:11 am

Why criticize her for her English skills, while you can also say that she’s remaining humble and down to earth. People sometimes forget she’s just a normal teenage girl of only 17 years old moving to somewhere totally new and working her butt off only to follow her dreams.

  8. 11 bananasong July 15, 2009 at 3:53 am

    GO WONDER GIRLS!!!

Whoever wrote this article needs to get over themselves.. everybody has hard times, no need to make fun of her for it. Shes just a kid and if this is very confusing for her, you have no right trying to ridicule her with your last comment.

  9. 12 This is Gay July 15, 2009 at 3:56 am

loonylovegood, I agree with you. This site always have something to say negative about the Wonder Girls. (and other stars)

“Because of her english skills” Like wtf, not everyone is good at English.

    • 13 bi July 16, 2009 at 3:58 am

so true i wish if they had something negative to say they can at least be bias~ or even neutral is okay but i think it’s just for the views~

Wonderful fans forever : D stay strong sunmi jjang!

i think popseoul might have so much to deal with in their life that they take it out on the internet bashing people to make themselves feel better~ they need some love haha~

  10. 14 kagero July 15, 2009 at 4:04 am

you hardcore fans really just cannot understand humor, the thing is that some people are forced to move here because of their families, whereas she’s here by choice, so she needs to learn to speak and understand English, when I lived in Korea I didn’t expect people to speak English to me, nor did I expect them to have sympathy for me, I had to just suck it up and learn Korean, because I was there by choice!

She’s not in school, if she were in school she could learning and understand English better!

    • 15 bananasong July 15, 2009 at 9:57 am

she is not asking to be pitied, she is just talking to her fans.. if you read the whole thing you would understand her message more…but of course popseoul did not provide that.

even if she has to learn it, that doesn’t mean she can’t have a hard time doing it.. her english is good btw, so that’s not the only thing that’s troubling her… there is nothing wrong with saying that you are having a hard time adjusting, she does not have to be mocked for feeling out of place…even if it’s her choice, it does not mean people have the right to make fun of her…..it’s not humor, it’s straight up lacking compassion…

    • 16 lawls. July 16, 2009 at 12:23 pm

right. what if sunmi is having a hard time learning english? english isnt exactly the easiest language to learn. rofl shes not asking for sympathy, just merely expressing her thoughts. i dont understand why people have to be so anal about things like this.

  11. 17 yunjae-thelove; July 15, 2009 at 4:26 am

awww SunMi..it must really be hard on her considering she’s still young and has’nt really seen the world.
hope she can stay positive and determined with the girls though.
    SunMi fighting !

  12. 18 pink July 15, 2009 at 4:34 am

    Sun Mi Fighitng!
    I understand how you feel.
    Keep it up :)

  13. 19 wendy July 15, 2009 at 4:38 am

    yes. i feel bad for her. but millions of other people go through it all the time. big freaking deal. and on top of that you’re a celebrity here going on tour – not going to high school. imagine going to high school in the US without knowing english. good lord. suck it up…yes, i feel bad for you for touring with the jonas brothers. =____=;;

    • 20 icey July 15, 2009 at 5:20 am

May I presume that you didn’t go through moving to a foreign country because it sounds like you don’t have a clue. I know many who have and they admitted that it was really hard to learn the language as well as try to understand what was going on around them. In addition, most admitted that they became depressed at some point (especially those with no family there or haven’t made any close friends yet).

So let her complain and hopefully let her be encouraged by those who hear her out. There’s no point in criticizing her for this unless you secretly want to push her to an untimely end (which seems like the trend nowadays sadly).

      • 21 wendy July 15, 2009 at 5:35 am

yes, you are quite right. i haven’t. but know a good number of people that are immigrants. and i personally have been in the situation where i’ve been pushed into foreign places/settings and gone through depression. yes, it was awful and tough. but i didn’t complain online/in blogs/on newspapers/etc. i found support in family and god and professionals.
i was just saying her position is not different from the millions of immigrants that go through the same thing – but to a higher degree of difficulty since they have to adjust permanently, and actually assimilate into the society. she’s there with her friends/group and basically making lots of money while vacationing/doing what she probably loves.

        • 22 bananasong July 15, 2009 at 10:07 am

Wendy I’ve been there since I’m myself a immigrant.. and i understand exactly what Sunmi is saying, but none of us had to deal with the pressure she is dealing with… performing in front of thousands of people that don’t know who you are, and still be courageous enough to go on stage..it might be hard for a teenager, who on top of that is not very familiar with the culture and whose english does not come easy… this whole experience is mentally stressful to them… she is not vacationing, do you thing touring is easy? they are constantly travelling from one place to another, studying, and now starting to do interviews and a bunch of promotions…this is their job… they are not “vacationing”.. all of it is very draining… she is not asking to be pitied, but she telling her fans was is up with her…for once I appreciate a celebrity who is fully honnest about what they are going through.

          • 23 familyof July 16, 2009 at 6:03 am

i absolutely agree with bananasong it not Vacationing it their job. Even that job is what they love to do it still very hard because she in a new place; imagine how scary and pressuring it is to wonder every day what she and her group member trying to achieve will succeed. and it not for people to pities her she just straight out honest about how she feels and clearly their nothing wrong with it.

          • 24 lawls. July 16, 2009 at 12:25 pm

sunmi probably isnt a strong person and therefore, she lets it out by writing about it. people always find a reason to pick on those who write about their feelings online and claim them to be “attention seeking” or wanting to be pitied. PFT.

    • 25 Akamekraze July 15, 2009 at 8:51 am

Dude! She’s a frikin celebrity! There’s probably much more pressure on her! “i found support in family” Well she has to find support in her group and JYP who keep telling her to study more english and get better! You’re not the only one who has to “assimilate into the society.” Though she doesn’t have to do it permanently, remember they are trying to get big in America! You said you went through a mode of depression! Well she also probably did yet she can’t complain!

  14. 26 Miko July 15, 2009 at 5:01 am

Yea… They should definitely go back to Korea

  15. 28 S T A R R ** July 15, 2009 at 10:32 am

why do they always put such a rumor like that?
do you hate wondergirls? while everyone love them?
    WHAT THE?
when are you going to post such a great gossip about them ? BESIDES THEY’RE JUST HERE TO ENTERTAIN THE PEOPLE? isn’t that bad?
ARGHH. it’s getting into my nerves!

  16. 29 chewyourhead July 15, 2009 at 1:06 pm

Yawn, this is what you all can come up with? she’s just writing about her feelings and if she feels like that, let her share it, its not as if she’s asking you for help.

….And what’s with the red haired (not natural) thingy, like duh, everyone who knows sunmi will know its not her natural hair colour, scratch that, people will know Asians do not have naturally red hair, talk about redundancy.

  17. 30 feroxy July 15, 2009 at 1:29 pm

you know what popseoul, if it happened that you weren’t raised in the US, do you think you will be able to perfect your English skills???? We Filipinos speak better English but we ain’t that harsh to some whose English is crashtastic. Besides, English ain’t that 2nd language is Korea, so whether they commit lapses in pronunciation and grammar, it’s forgivable.

  18. 31 spazifuwantto July 15, 2009 at 1:46 pm

I went to Germany and Holland and enjoy my time there. Though I didn’t speak Germain or Dutch. I had a blast with the locals. Just a matter how you adjust to stress and uncomfortable situations.I don’t care as long there is a bar and music I’m good. ^_^

love you sunmi..support u always…..i wonder she`s without the other wonder girls..

  27. 41 cdnpoint July 17, 2009 at 4:33 am

Part of the touring deal could be the necessity of creating “new” revelations to share on the many media trips/radio spots by the singers. Creating fan interest. At what point do the singers say, I want some of my interests to be my own and private, not all for public consumption?

You can bet that if it was their money funding the tour in entirety, the singers would only speak when they wanted to on the topics they chose. Not what other adults chose for them to talk about.
