Wondergirls on BET “The Wendy Williams Show”

Wendywilliams_090718

Wondergirls_0907162

Although Se7en has already stepped into the realm of the U.S. black entertainment channel, BET, the Wondergirls is upping the ante with their expected appearance on The Wendy Williams Show. Wendy Williams, known as “The Queen of Talk” will discuss everything as long as its entertaining. So the Wondergirls must be entertaining enough….

Another point to JYP and his mission of fulfilling the “American dream.”

The girls are slated to be on the talk show on July 20th (U.S. at 11pm Eastern).

ohhh this must be..a good thing? :]

    • 2 anomaka July 18, 2009 at 5:55 am

I don’t know if they’ll hit it big in the US. But every time they’re mentioned it’s all about the “nobody” dance. They’re not a dance group after all. JYP should let them showcase their singing talent too.

      • 3 hmmmmm July 18, 2009 at 6:22 am

Only two girls can really sing. The rest are useless…..

      • 5 coffy73 July 18, 2009 at 7:39 am

“Singing talent”, lol! You’ve gotta be kidding me!?

      • 6 Monica July 18, 2009 at 9:23 am

“There not a dance group after all”

Ummm, are we talking about the same Wondergirls? Even in Korea it’s all about the Nobody dance. Before that, it was all about the Tell Me dance. These girls are all about the dances (because frankly, they don’t sing that well).

As far as them making it big in America, honestly, I don’t think it will ever really happen. But with the wigs, the outfits, the catchy dances, Perez Hilton, the Jonas Brothers, the cuteness, and Wendy frickin’ Williams, these girls have all the ingrediants necessary to become major gay icons.

        • 7 La_Selva July 19, 2009 at 12:33 pm

They aren’t a dance group and the moves to “Nobody” would hardly be considered as “complicated”. A lot of good songs have catchy daces to them, despite their talent or overall appeal…soemtimes it’s what makes them seem better. An example? Soulja Boy. Or other songs like “get Silly” by VIC, “Ricky Bobby”, “Lean wit it” (which got popular becuase of the dance) and a bunch of others.

Otherthan that, I totally agree. ANd I’m not sure if Iw ant them to make it. I’m not an anti but I’m not a fan….the reason is because I eellike they get a whole lot more credit than they deserve I think they are good, bbut BOA and se7en are much better and have a more appeal. Plus, do you really want to WGs to set the stage/expectation that Asian-American muscians will have to repeat or live up to?

          • 8 Sada July 20, 2009 at 6:01 pm

Oh man I’m a fan, but I soooo hear you! Rain, and Se7en and Crown J, oh so much better!!

          • 9 agility July 22, 2009 at 4:12 am

            | think that the reason as to why se7en and boa aren’t as successful in the American music industry, is because their music style has lost that “Asian flavor” or uniqueness, that they provided when they were still in Asia. =/

      • 10 Akamekraze July 19, 2009 at 2:48 am

Yep! And their other songs! They should make more albums pretty soon! WG will only be known for Nobody!

        • 11 agility July 22, 2009 at 4:15 am

They are planning to release an album this September, and JYP has stated that there is a possibility that “Tell Me” will be their next single.

      • 12 La_Selva July 19, 2009 at 12:35 pm

The way they are going now, they won’t make it very far or will only be known for theiri “Nobody” dance and “cute asian features”. Basically, a fad.

  2. 13 Momo July 18, 2009 at 2:16 am

wow how would have thought that out off all the talented Kpop artists that have been trying to break into the American industry… The less talented one will actually get the attention… Socking! It’s a shame for bi and se7en they actually deserve it! But I’m happy for them fighting

    • 14 cubana4life July 18, 2009 at 3:33 am

yes, i agree…even though i don’t think WG is amazing live, JYP sure does know how to manage his girls in a way to get them known.

congrats to Wonder Girls, and JYP!

    • 15 okey July 18, 2009 at 3:43 am

i think the reason why they seem to be the most successful break to U.S. market is because they’re willing to start over like do not care that they’re very big in Asia already.

    • 16 agility July 22, 2009 at 4:31 am

I think that the reason as to why the Wonder Girls has gained more fame compared to artists such as se7en and boa is because the Wonder Girls music style was not changed, so when it was presented to the North American audiences it contained “uniqueness” something they haven’t heard of in their current music industry. Also because of all the promotion by JYP, letting the Wonder Girls tour with the Jonas Brothers.

  3. 17 crypticbluerose July 18, 2009 at 2:33 am

that’s pretty nice, even though i haven’t watched BET in years. lol

  4. 19 alex July 18, 2009 at 3:01 am

The wendy williams show airs on fox and my9 too. This is the weirdest news though. I wonder if jyp knows about wendy because she’s kind of controversial. She might make the girls really uncomfortable. She’s funny but likes to ask really intimate and controversial questions at times. Never thought she’d be interviewing a group opening for the jonas brothers. I wish them luck and hope wendy doesn’t go over board

    • 20 La_Selva July 19, 2009 at 12:36 pm

Ahh, you’re right. I didn’t think about that. Let’s hope she’s not racist or puts them on the spot…it seems like theirs a lot of asian and gay jokes floating aorund in Hollywood now days.

  5. 21 dothat36 July 18, 2009 at 3:21 am

actually her show is on FOX, but BET does the reruns once a week.

  6. 24 Joli007 July 18, 2009 at 3:29 am

Gah, I hate Wendy William’s show. And the WGs had better brush up on all the English they know, because that woman talks A LOT.

    • 25 wow July 18, 2009 at 4:47 am

how can you hate it it hasn’t even premiered yet…

      • 26 skimfan July 18, 2009 at 4:53 am

Wendy has had/have radio talk shows and some of those aired on vh1. Many people know of her and her reputation. Wendy can definitely talk and she’s not gonna allow Jyp to mastermind the interview or talk for the girls either, that’s for sure!

      • 27 Joli007 July 18, 2009 at 11:56 am

As Skimfan said, Wendy’s show has aired previously, and I’ve listened/watched her enough to know that she’s invasive, kind of arrogant, and obnoxious. She’s angered several artists and has even started and spread rumors about them. She’ll pretty much air all of your personal business or work a way around everything so that she can. And she has a higher view of herself than she really should. This could either go horribly wrong for the WGs or just end up being one of those five minute segments that’s hardly air-worthy. I think the girls would’ve had better luck on a program like Radio Disney (since they ARE working with the Jonas Brothers, which isn’t really an artist many BET viewers or Wendy Williams audience members care for)or even the Tyra Banks show, who at least has a decent amount of teenage viewers.

        • 28 La_Selva July 19, 2009 at 12:39 pm

Didn’t WWs replace the TYra Banks show?
          And I
ve seen teh show too.She seems to try to be a bit more pf a peacmaker but the whole premise of the show is to gossip and discuss celebrities. She has her funny moments, btu I feel she’s slightly overrated (as I had never heard of her until a week or two ago and she hasn’t lived up to the hype).

  7. 29 ummi July 18, 2009 at 3:57 am

This show is actually shown on NBC where I live. This should be interesting… I’m definitely going to check it out

  8. 30 Sidni July 18, 2009 at 4:25 am

lol WG better handle all the talk from Wendy…that lady can talk….her wigs are like WUHHHH-BAM!

  9. 31 wow July 18, 2009 at 4:46 am

omg they’re really doing it lol well they proved me wrong i thought it would go sour since they basically jumped the gun with the jonas tour…congrats!

  10. 32 skimfan July 18, 2009 at 4:50 am

Oh please, please Wendy ask them to sing live on your show! I remember when her radio show was airing on a station I listened to, she’s definitely controversial and will give it to celebrities who deserve it. I wonder if she’ll accept questions through email for her tv show? I really want them to display their individual singing “skills” to Wendy. It would be an uproar to see Wendys’ face if they did that!

    • 33 skimfan July 18, 2009 at 4:56 am

As a side note, Wendy will absolutely talk about them after they leave, especially if they did horribly. I’ve heard some funny things said about a guest who said something stupid or just something she didn’t like. However, she’ll say it their face as well, lol! Maybe she’ll be extra nice for foreigners, who knows.

  11. 34 nycgirl July 18, 2009 at 5:17 am

The Wendy Williams show with the WG will air in NYC fox at 10am

  12. 35 Taylor July 18, 2009 at 5:21 am

I actually watch this show. This should be interesting.

  13. 36 nicole:) July 18, 2009 at 5:27 am

ahahaha… i hope wondergirls are ready for this, because Wendy will NOT hold back. she’ll go off on these girls if she wants. how many of them can speak english well?

  14. 37 Raven July 18, 2009 at 6:11 am

I heard aboiut this after the show. Sounds like there’s some interest in the Wonder Girls especially after they opened for the jonas brothers.

  15. 38 hyunnie July 18, 2009 at 6:48 am

    wow!! congrats to them!

  16. 39 crissie July 18, 2009 at 7:32 am

last time i chcecked, Oprah was queen of talk hahaha

  17. 41 Kwak July 18, 2009 at 8:20 am

watch the wendy williams vs omorosa interview. That was a classic. LOL

  18. 42 Wock July 18, 2009 at 8:43 am

She is known for talking smack! I can see it now.

Wendy Willaim: Wth, I can’t tell them apart! They all look the same.

  19. 44 bribri July 18, 2009 at 9:36 am

…. only problem is no one watches her show… i couldnt even get 5 min. into the show cuz her voice was so annoying.

  20. 45 Dovey July 18, 2009 at 9:44 am

I’m gonna wanna see this…I wanna see how they will handle an American audience watching them as they speak in English. XD Hopefully, they have improved?

And I have never heard of this show, since I don’t even watch the BET channel at all. XD

  21. 46 Yoyoyo July 18, 2009 at 10:27 am

You guys are all haters. Whateves they’ll succeed and you guys will all be eating your words too.

    • 47 Tin July 18, 2009 at 11:41 am

You WGs fans really need to come up with some new words. Seriously, it’s getting a little repetitive! Besides, hate is such a strong emotion, the wgs are definitely not worth it. I don’t like them, but I don’t hate them…I don’t even know ‘em.

  22. 48 DBSJSHINee July 18, 2009 at 11:29 am

Lol, of all people, the got to be on the Wendy William’s show.
Now this is something worthwhile watching.
Wendy is so famous for shooting out whatever that comes into her head, and that something may not be exactly pleasant to the ear.

I bet she would even put JYP in an uncomfortable spot.
But, best of luck to the girls.

  23. 49 1234 July 18, 2009 at 11:32 am

just being random, but i wish Wonder Girls could make some new songs

  24. 50 F.Y.I. July 18, 2009 at 11:45 am

It lists that the WGs are performing on the show. On most shows (i.e. Tonight Show, Letterman) musical guests are rarely interviewed.

  25. 53 Joli007 July 18, 2009 at 12:01 pm

^I just saw that on her official website…I gotta say, I’m relieved. If Wendy had gotten a hold of those girls long enough to discuss anything, it may have gotten unpredictable.
Naturally, we can’t rely on Popseoul for the whole truth :P Still, good stuff.

  26. 54 Nayo July 18, 2009 at 12:59 pm

My tv guide says “Scheduled: comic and late-night host Jimmy Fallon; South Korean girl group Wonder Girls.” So my television guide makes it sound like they may do some talking as they are included in the cast.
I got a laugh at her “Annyong haseo” in the preview; maybe she’ll have fun and take it easy on them.

  27. 56 rice July 18, 2009 at 1:01 pm

I wish them luck on her show, their going to need it.

  28. 57 zukii July 18, 2009 at 1:05 pm

    O_O omo.
They ARE going to need lucky on her show.
Srsly, this ghetto drag queen bothers me >_>

    • 58 blakey July 18, 2009 at 2:30 pm

You really didn’t need to take it there, but since you’re obviously a wgs fan, it’s to be expected. Hope Wendy tears them and Jyp, cause you know he’s gonna be there, up!

  29. 59 OhDangitsAnnie July 18, 2009 at 1:58 pm

    wondergirls needs new songs.
    :P
    wish them luck!
im probably going to watch it.

  30. 60 RamuneLove July 18, 2009 at 2:20 pm

    Oh dear… I’m afraid for them…
I fear that woman will probably kill the wondergirls within the first like 10 minutes of the show…
    Good luck to WG!!

  31. 61 DeeDee July 18, 2009 at 2:35 pm

um The Wendy Williams Show? well hopefully Wendy will be classy and very nice to these young ladies..I am still trying to figure out how they came to be on her show? wow..this should really be interesting…Touring with the JOnas Brothers and featuring on the um, well, let’s not say the classiest of females..The Wendy Williams Show..

    WOW WHAT A MIXTURE..LOL..GOOD LUCK W.G.

  32. 62 Joli007 July 18, 2009 at 2:39 pm

I just checked her site again, and it says “The hilarious Jimmy Fallon, and pop sensations ‘Wonder Girls’ perform” and during her preview clip, she says something like “…and wait til you hear the Wonder Girls!”
I’d assume that if they do any talking, it’ll be after their performance, and that she’ll be talking to the WG with the best grasp on English.
I think that, despite her controversial history, she’ll take it easy on the girls…nothing outside the realm of “You guys are so cute~!”

  33. 63 Taylor July 18, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Honestly, I dont think itll turn out bad. Its gonna be nothing but laughs in a good way.
Plus they always talk to guest before the shows..so maybe theyll all get comfortable with each other behind the scenes.

  34. 64 miira-chaan July 18, 2009 at 5:50 pm

    ooh boy.!~
JYP is doing his magic tricks.!~

    wondergirls everywhere.!!~
    hahaa.!~

    well..goodluck to them.!~

    sohee fighting.!~

  35. 65 OMG July 18, 2009 at 8:50 pm

congratulations wondergirls! but i doubt if they’re going to make it big in the us. they’re too sweet and conservative for the liberal americans to love. but i love who they are!

  36. 66 Sabsteerx July 19, 2009 at 12:22 am

    Wow…
    First Touring w| JoBros …
Now on the Wendy Williams Show.
    Not to be repetative but…
i seriously hope wendy can be easy going with the girls.
and i hope she doesnt talk about how fat she is all the time -__-!
I mean come on! your not fat!
    [random ending sooorry]

  37. 67 Masaya July 19, 2009 at 6:22 am

It’ll be good. As long as I hate them, things will be good for them.

  38. 68 Natalie July 19, 2009 at 7:45 am

what channel it is one for LA? and what time? can some tell me? p[z!!

    • 69 Natalie July 19, 2009 at 7:47 am

sorry! i mean what channel it is on for the show, since i’m only watchin it this one time because of wonder girls :)

  39. 70 S T A R R ** July 19, 2009 at 11:29 am

    i don’t expect to much. :P
    well,it’s expecting already.

  40. 71 FRUITY July 19, 2009 at 10:49 pm

this is good, at least they find something that can increase their exposure in the U.S, hope they’ll just stay in that track, and don’t try doing movies like.. he-who-must-not-be-named.
GOOD LUCK to W.G!! i’m PRAYING for their success!!

  41. 72 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! July 19, 2009 at 11:34 pm

OMG i love the wonder girls so much. i wish i could meet them

  42. 73 JuJu July 20, 2009 at 9:58 am

Judging from her previous shows, i think all of you are worrying a bit too much. Most of Wendys musical guests arent interviewed, unless you count one or two questions after the performance and interview. But either way, i think JYP is trying to spread WG to the wrong audience. Not trying to be racist or for anybody to offense to anything, but i dont think many black women in their late 20s through late 30s will find any interest in the WG. They could’ve and should’ve found a more teenage audience. But i wish them gooood luck..

  43. 75 nycgirl July 21, 2009 at 2:42 am

Just saw the show. their performance was good but they lipsynced through it all. thet did look fab and they said they were being managed by jonas bros father. ha it could be they did not understand what was being said or JYP had to make a deal that got them more exposure.

  44. 78 happy!!!!!!!!!! July 21, 2009 at 7:45 am

the girls rocked it!!!! if any one person or group from korea is to bring the “korean wave” to the states…… well remember it started on the wendy william show!!!

  45. 79 miina July 21, 2009 at 8:24 am

yea i just watched the show at 12pm and saw them perform near the end. THEY DID GREAT! and it was the 1st time i ever saw them LIVE in MY tv. the audience loved them! Wendy did mention that they are the most searched kpop group on YouTube and were managed by Mr. Jonas. They get to introduce themselves, saying their names and such. i was expecting a longer interview, but still it was good to see them on TV. Go WG!

  46. 80 vee July 21, 2009 at 9:16 am

Here is the link from the show where they performed. I am American and I must admit….they cannot sing!!! But they are cute. Some people left comments compairing them to Milli Vanilli…ROFL!!! I hope that some of the negative American culture doesn’t rub off on them & I hope they stay sweet.

    http://www.wendyshow.com/2009/07/20/wonder-girls-perform-nobody/

  47. 81 Sally July 21, 2009 at 12:56 pm

they really suck at singing live. i’m korean and i’m glad that korean people are gaining popularity, but honestly, wonder girls was the wrong choice. they really and truly just cannot sing period.

  48. 82 Alex July 30, 2009 at 5:40 pm

wonder girls are having better exposure then any asian artist has so far I mean they are touring with the jobro’s, jordan sparks, and honor society who are pretty dang popular and they performed on a u.s tv talk show. pretty ground breaking for a group that 2 years ago I bet none of u would imagined they would touch anything in the u.s
