Big Queens jazz up Son Dambi’s “Saturday Night”

Best way to get attention: cover popular song that originally required little vocal ability.

Unlike their sugary sweet and girly counterparts, Big Queens don’t sound like your typical college girls at the noreabang. With their official debut on August 10th , a video of Yoo-mi and Mi-rim doing a soulful rendition of Son Dambi’s latest hit “Saturday Night” has been released on the web to capture the interest of KPOP listeners.

You know what happens when talented vocalists do covers? People honestly only listen to the unofficial covers and don’t pay so much attention to their actual music.

I didn’t think you could make “Saturday Night” sound good. Does their sound strike your fancy?

well they got nice voices, but i don’t like how they slow the song down. the slowness takes something away from the song. i personally still like son dambi’s version

this is so much better than the original which imo sounded like the tackiest song ever created. this actually has soul and a nice rhythm to it

Well the name is too much of a rip off of ‘Big Mama’ but their vocals are amazing. I’m looking forward to their debut.

hearing them remind me of the group big mama…

They’re voices are amazing and I don’t mind that the song is slowed down but I’m not really feeling the sax in the background. And while I like the cover I still like the original. Son Dambi’s voice may not be as strong as these girls but she does have an alright voice. On her album there are a couple tracks that are more on the ballad side and don’t feature any auto tune type enhancements and they came out nice.

Nowadays, korean singers with real vocal talents are mostly ballad concept singers. But these days producers think pop is nicer so they go on with the trend, take IU for example.

They’re sooo good! Does anyone know where I can sample their new album?! ;]
