Chae Yeon rocks out for a photo spread in the September issue of men’s magazine, Stuff Korea. Usually seen with a cute and sexy image, Chae Yeon challenges a new look for Stuff. Although I couldn’t imagine Chae Yeon being a legitimate rocker, she looks quite fabulous either way.
The photographer praised the diva for her versatility, “Although we were a bit worried about changing Chae Yeon to a rock girl image, but she was able to mix the feelings of rock and sexiness together which resulted in a good photoshoot.“

Nothing against her personally but I don’t get her popularity. I mean she is not pretty and can’t sing. BUt I guess that is just my opinion, I guess I wish her luck. I just don’t get it.

You can not get her popularity?? Its because of her hardwork, charisma and stage presence.
Chae Yeon never had an entertainment giant, like SM or JYP to hype her into stardom with the “underhand money” that most Korean idols used to get fame… if you see what she’s been through, her background, limited resources of her management company, you would see that she deserves and actually earned her fame.
She is truly what you would call a “self-made star,” which is so rare, almost a phenomenon in the corrupt country of Korean, really… and it wasn’t the one-hit wonder thing… she’s already made it through 7 albums including her last Chinese album -that’s even more rare! She’s also exceed her popularity outside of Korea into China. She’s probably the only “hallyu star” that is NOT from a major entertainment company. I think of Chae Yeon Unnie as a diamond in the rough!!

But Chae Yeon stepped into the A-list category, ever since her nanana dance days… She was winning awards and her face was everywhere. But now she is getting old, and I have to admit that her popularity is somewhat fading.
But if you compare her with all of the other “sexy singers” that were out in the last 5 years. Hyori and Chae Yeon are probably that still have a career going for them!
Others such as Gilgun, Mina, Ivy, Bin, etc… they all turned out to be one or two-hit wonders. Although I heard Ivy is making a comeback soon, but with last her scandal still not forgotten, we’ll see how she fares…
