DSP also boycotting the 2009 MAMA?

ss501_hannah_20091104

No, but SS501 will not be attending the 2009 MAMA.

Rumors have been spreading that DSP Entertainment was also going to boycott the 2009 MAMA. However the company has made an official statement that this is just a false rumor. An official of DSP Entertainment made a clear statement that SS501 is unable to attend the 2009 MAMA due to their busy overseas schedule, as well as the fact that SS501 released their new album just last month, which it makes it too late for the boys to participate in the award show ceremony.

There is also word going around that fellow DSP Entertainment group, Kara, will not be attending the 2009 MAMA as well. Although an official statement about Kara’s attendance has not yet been given, it has been revealed that DSP Entertainment is currently positively considering Kara’s attendance.

With all of SM Entertainment’s artists, trot singers and now SS501 absent from the event, that’s a big chunk of artists and their hit songs you won’t be able to see or hear at the event. With a large number of these “cream of the crop” singers out of the picture, is the 2009 MAMA even worth being considered an “end of the year K-pop wrap-up” event?

This is getting so ridiculous. I mean lets be realistic, if this happened at every awards show in the world, there would be no point to awards or artists. There is bound to be drama at every awards show *cough cough kaynewestdissingtaylorswiftatMMVA cough cough* but that’s what keeps the shows interesting. I’m just curious as to how all these entertainment companies even figure the awards shows are rigged and why SM is pulling out when all their artists are leading in the polls?!?! Just goes to show how greedy the entertainment business really is.
It’s disappointing SS501 won’t be there, but honestly they have just made their comeback and they should be focusing on promoting their new album.
I’m interested to see how the MAMA’s pans out.

this show sucks balls. all the good interesting artists are gone, no point of even making an award show like this, i mean your main magnet SM is boycotting so… why was it made the in first place?? But it’s too late to cancel it already so let’s just see how it turns out.

LOL basically DSP gave a message that “SS501 don’t get any awards anyway, why do they need to attend?” and “We still consider if Kara’s gonna get some awards, so they will attend”. MAMA claims that artists should think of it as the performance show rather than awards show, but we all know that MKMF is one of the 2 remaining big awards show. And MAMA themselves asks for the fee to votes.

Let’s just all hope JYP and YG Ent won’t be stupid enough to boycott the MAMAs, too.

I can understand that SS501 still has to practice their dance and all but I don’t understand how Kara has to be absent too. They’re not doing any new album are they?

Will the Brown Eyed Girls be there too? :D

i think this is just shameful! In times like these where music is supposed to bring people together, these companies all seem to care only about money or pride or whatever their problem is.

The artists should band together and say this isn’t right to their companies. Do it for the fans :(

If the artists say “It’s not fair” to their bosses they’ll probably have a high chance of getting kicked out of the entertainment section and will get a lecture from their bosses. Believe me I don’t like that idea too. :(

Wait i forgot.. Why is SM boycotting again?

No Super Junior; Snsd; Shinee; Kara.
    Sad but still…
STILL GOT Bigbang and 2NE1! :)

  15. 20 phililen3 November 7, 2009 at 12:00 am

basically all this means that it will be a bb concert with some awareds being given in between? fine with me…

  16. 21 Pink01 November 19, 2009 at 2:09 am

No SNSD, Super junior, Shinee , SS501.. Then where are the awards going to go to?
Obviosly, Big Bang doesnt really deserve one (Maybe G-Dragon’s album deserves one. Maybe) because they werent even active for the past year.
2NE1 probably deserves ‘new group’ or sth, but that’s it.

I wonder who will the other awards go to, Cause we all know SNSD and Super junior owned 2009.
It’ll be really stupid if Mnet gives away SNSD&Suju’s award to another artist when Mnet had stated that they are bein ‘fair’.
