Well, at least the viewer ratings are looking good, for now.

The long awaited drama starring Lee Hong-ki, Jang Geun-suk, Park Shin-hye and Uee has finally aired on October 7th with viewer ratings at a whopping 10.8%, beating Heading to the Ground by 1.6%. There have been mixed reviews about the drama, some stating that the drama is very comical while others are stating that it’s just plain cheesy.

Nonetheless, it looks like things are looking bright for You’re Beautiful with 7 MV parodies, filmed by the main cast of the drama, which are scheduled to air as epilogues after each episode. Who wouldn’t want to see Lee Hong-ki as Jessica of SNSD wearing a blonde wig, kill-heels and skinny jeans while strutting his stuff to the tune of SNSD’s Tell Me Your Wish?

The MV parodies of Crying Nut’s “Let’s Ride A Horse“, DJ. DOC’s “Run To You“, Fin.K.L’s “Forever Love“, H.O.T’s “Candy“, Roo’Ra’s “Angel That Lost A Wing“, Seo Taiji and the Boys’ “I know” and last but not least SNSD’s “Tell Me Your Wish“, will definitely be a popularity booster for the drama.

But with the competing Wednesday/Thursday drama, Iris set to broadcast next week on the October 14th, will “You’re Beautiful” be able to keep up its ratings? We’re just going to have to wait and see.

Wanna take a peek?Starring opposite Jang Geun-suk in the new drama “You’re Beautiful,” 19 year old drama princess Park Shin-hye plays two fraternal twins, of whom the male twin is a member of the fictional idol group “A.N.JELL.” Upon getting into an accident in which he can’t participate with the group’s activities, the female twin decides to play his part. Maybe it’s just me, but girl pretending to be boy to help out loved one sounds very familiar.

Is a girl dressing up as a boy supposed to bring in viewers? Instead of resorting to another “Coffee Prince,” why not get a better story line?

And just for those of you who might be curious: Both these two actors were considered for the lead roles in the hit drama, “Boys Before Flowers” And if they were cast, would they have made a better Jandi and Goo Jun-pyo?

Did you know that F.T Island’s Lee Hong-ki was a childhood actor? Well, he was.

Lee Hong-ki will be making his return to the small screen after his five year hiatus through the upcoming  SBS drama, ‘You Are So Handsome’. Lee Hong-ki was originally supposed to star in the SBS drama, ‘God of Studying’ during the latter half of 2008 but production of the drama has been entirely cancelled.

‘You Are So Handsome’, is a story about a four member Idol group and their growth, love life and hardships. Alongside Lee Hong-ki, Jang Geun-suk and Park Shin-hye have also been cast as a member of the Idol group. What’s interesting is, Park Shin-hye, will have two roles in the drama because she plays the part of a girl who disguises herself as a boy to be in the Idol group.

Lee Hong-ki has been cast for the role of Kang O-nyu, the pretty boy idol group member who doesn’t really care much for anything or anyone around him. As to why Lee Hong-ki was cast for the role, a representative of the drama stated,

 Lee Hong-ki has been cast in the drama ‘You Are So Handsome’. Since the story is about an Idol group, while we were in the process of looking for an actual Idol group member to star in the drama we felt that Lee Hong-ki was a good candidate for the character and decided that he actually suited the character quite well.

‘You Are So Handsome’ is scheduled to air on October 7th, following the currently broadcasting drama, ‘Swallow the Sun’.

The 2007 MBC Drama Awards was a big enough honor to bring out the Bae Yong-joon out from Neverland to accept the award for the Grand Prize (대상) the highest honor and also the Netizen’s Choice Award.

Yun Eun-hye and Gong Yoo were recognized for their outstanding acting skills for the popular hit drama, Coffee Prince.

The MBC Awards recognizes excellence in acting by being generous with its recognition. Two persons from each category for the best and outstanding actor/actress awards are chosen (sometimes translated as ‘top excellence’ and ‘excellence’ awards). Based on such a system, it seems that almost everyone on an MBC drama picked up an award. A win-win situation for the actors, but at the same time, the seriousness of the awards is watered down. Do they really need 2 separate categories for “top excellence” and “excellence” in acting?

Bae Yong-joon brings matching crutches to the show. Even though the man is ajummafied, his penguin suit is no frills and classic.

Jang Hyuk. The actor recently announced that he and his pilates instructor gf are expecting a baby in February next year. The scandalous actor’s white tie is nearly invisible against his shirt of the same color.

Joo Ji-hoon. We all know that the man needs to munch on a few big macs, but trying to bulk up by wearing a rabbit fur vest/jacket/bolero over his jacket is not trend-setting, it’s a fashion faux-pas. Poor rabbit.

Lee Joongi is wearing a cream jacket that looks 3 sizes too big. In fact, it looks like they photoshopped his head to this outfit. And what’s with all the tanner? Or should I say, “color lotion”

Lee Jia. The actress admitted to designing this dress all by herself. She should have just kept it in the closet. Notice that the string from the word “brightest” on the side of her dress is long enough to be twirled around the finger ? this one is not bright, it’s dumb. Also, the hair in the face, clunky louboutins and the white chiffon prom reject dress screams fashion disaster.

Lee On (Coffee Prince ) keeps it simple and in reverse constrast with the black shirt and white tie.

Gong Yoo. The cute Coffee Prince star will be heading out for his military service in January. This will probably be one of his last public appearances, so enjoy. Check him out here. (in Korean)

Han Jimin in a pale shade of dust. The dress must be borrowed because it’s 2 sizes too big. The makeup, on the other hand, specifically the shiny and rosy cheeks and shimmering eyes look great. Check out her style here. (in Korean)

Koh Eun-mi. Another ill-fitting and ddm looking white dress.

Kong Hyojin. Known for her less than stylish picks, the pinkish chiffon number seems to work. And she’s the got the thin stems to pull off the ankle straps. Check out her dress at all angles here.(in Korean)

Lee Phillip. Like Joongi (check above), the man has dipped into the color lotion that’s a few shades darker than his real skin color. Not only that, I think he’s got more makeup on… the darkened eyebrows and rosy colored pout. He just looks fake. Check him out here. (in Korean)

Lee Yoonji. Can someone tell these young actresses to pick something that fits them instead of wearing crinkled wax paper? Also, if the dress needs to be shortened into a micro mini, then please hem it so it looks professional and not like you pinned it up with some safety pins. Ugh. Check out a short clip of her here. Nam Sang-mi knows how to pose (with 1 arm resting on the hip), but she needs to work it more. But with such an ugly 2 toned dress, there is only so much you can do. The style is ok, but the color ages her 20 years. Check out her style here. (in Korean)

Park Jung-a gives Hyori a run for her money with this simple shimmery peach dress. It’s elegant and hugs her curves all in the right places. A winner. (Park Jung-a picked up an award for Radio)

Park Shin-hye. Can’t figure out what her angle is. Is she trying to be a chic painter (the hat), a glamourous star (the long gloves), casual (glad garbage bag dress), or sexy huntress (strappy shoes). All put together, this outfit is a disaster.

Yun Eun-hye. For a change in fashion, the Coffee Prince star dons a long black wig and clown pants pulled up over her chest. There is no other way to describe what she is wearing. Yun Eun-hye ends the year with the ugly bomb. Check out her pants here. (in Korean)

MAC’s Viva Glam VI Party showcased Marilyn Manson’s ex, Dita Von Teese, on Friday night. I had planned to go to the party but missed it because I was on the flight back to Seoul. Like Ms Teese who is flanked by 2 deliciously half-naked male models, I had the pleasure of being on a full plane in a middle seat also flanked by men, but that’s where the commonality ends. From the beginning of the flight, the aisle guy kept letting out concentrated toxic fumes every time he shifted in his seat and then, when he fell asleep, he completely let loose. I was not shy about covering my nose. However, what was even worse was when the lights went down, the window guy began to stare at me to see if I was aware of the frenzied activity that was going on under his blanket! Ugh. Yuck. Ew.  In my relatively short life, that was THE worst plane ride ever. Phew, ok, I had to let that out.

However, I digress. It’s too bad that I missed out on seeing Hyori and Bada in a sexy black outfits, international model Song, Park Shinhye of GoongS, Park Ji-yong and Jun Hye-bin. It would have been infinitely more interesting (and pleasant smelling) than being stuck in a middle seat sandwiched by 2 noxious men on a long 12 hour flight.*

Young star, Park Shin-hye (16) onscreen kiss with fellow star, Se7en is her first kiss ever. Lucky girl. But totally unromantic kiss. Look at Se7en staring at her. Dang. I guess it’s better than the last kiss.

"Goong S" is finally here! It’s sequel to "Goong" which was a huge hit last year in Korea.  It was a cute fusion of modern day romance, arranged marriages and the Korean royal family, hence the name Goong (trans: royal palace).  The drama was filled with humorous dialogues as well as the extravagant displays of traditional Korean custom (han bok).  Oh yes, and the fashion of Yoon Eun Hea – the lead actress was amazing as well.

The expectations for the sequel is higher and I sure hope that Se7en can meet them.  However, the drama is starting with a very unfortunate event.  The producers and the station are fighting over the name.  Basically, the producers of last years "Goong" wants royalty fees for using the name, and I think the current producers don’t want to pay.

So whats the plot?  Se7ven was chinese food delivery boy who had a "normal" life until he finds out that he was the heir to the throne and the rest of the drama is about Se7en learning about the various traditions and customs of the royal life and adjusting to his new fate.  Sounds interesting?  Tell us what you think!
