hi guys how have u been?

i was writing on twitter, as you know there is a limit so i couldn’t write down everything i wanted to say at once, and soon i realized that i had my own blog here to talk to you guys !!

i just got back from china, had a great time there! we felt warm and comfortable since this was the 4th time we’ve visited beijing , regardless of the fact that we’ve forgotten lots of chinese words & expressions.. T.T

but surpringly, we could remember pretty lots of words involved in food, like “Xi gua zhe(watermelon juice)” , “kao ya(duck, the most famous dish in beijing)” etc. we considered that it’s because of human’s instinct to survive… haha

BTW, have you decided what to wear for halloween?! it will be awesome if you guys upload halloween pik for me who is going to miss it crying and being depressed the entire day.. haha.. i’m fine.. i will be fine… T.T

i thought i had a lot to say today but as i get sleepy, (it’s 2am here) all i’m thinking is to get in bed now.. but i promise that i’ll write again very soon, about more intriguing stories..!

Rising fast, but can they win the hearts of millions of Americans?

Maybe this article for People magazine will help them win their hearts.

Five fun facts about the Wondergirls are stated in People that you can easily find out with a little online research, but it sure will help the Wondergirls get more fans. The last one is a bit of a stretch and I think completely not noteworthy, but you got to scramble up five facts somehow I suppose.

The Wonder Girls are climbing their way up on the U.S. Billboard chart.

Just the other day, we reported that the Wonder Girls had made their way up to spot 107 on the Billboard charts. Surprisingly, it has been announced today that they have jumped up 31 spots to 76 on the Billboard “Hot 100” chart.

In addition, it has been revealed that the girls have also reached #1 in album sales during October 12th to the 18th. Yes you read right, the girls sold a whopping 30,462 copies of their single, topping both Maxwell “Pretty Wings” album sales of 29,088 copies and Mariah Carey “Obsessed” album sales of 27,513.

Now, how do the Wonder Girls feel about breaking into the Top 100 on the Billboard charts? You’re gonna have to wait and find out this coming friday, as the girls have returned to Korea and will be holding a press conference this coming friday. At the conference, the girls will be sharing stories of their experiences and accomplishments in America, as well as future plans for their career.

It looks like things are looking brighter for the girls in the States. Congratulations once again to the Wonder Girls for making such an accomplishment!

Are the girls actually becoming a somebody in the U.S. with the power of Nobody?

It looks like the Wonder Girls are finally getting the green light, after entering the U.S. market with their American single, back in June. Apparently, the girls have been getting a lot of media play in the past week and have slowly been climbing their way up on the Billboard charts. A representative of JYP Entertainment stated,

According to the U.S. “Mediabase” site’s radio broadcast frequency analysis, the Wonder Girls’ track “Nobody” has been broadcasted more than 65 times between the 12th and 18th in the states. In addition, their ranking on the Billboard charts has gone up 16 places from 123rd to 107th.

In particular, the Wonder Girls’ “Nobody” has also entered the rotation play list of 18 of 167 “Top 40 Radio Stations” in the U.S. If selected (the song), the rotation which is considered the U.S. selected playlist, allows for one song to be played once or twice a week for a span of four consecutive weeks. It is also remarkable that the Wonder Girls are the first Korean artist to ever enter the Top 40 radio rotation.

Congratulations to the Wonder Girls for making such a big step in the U.S. music industry. But are there any PS! readers who live in the U.S., that have actually heard “Nobody” being played on the radio?

They sure are funky.

Jason Nevins, known for producing massive hip-hop hits like Run-DMC’s “It’s Like That” and an extensive list of remixes, has now taken on the Wondergirls‘ American single “Nobody.”

I initially hated the remix because it’s basically the same song with various techno beats and vocal synthesizers. But, after listening to it a couple of times, the intense dance vibe is growing on me.  Definitely an exciting track to dance to at the club.

Is Nevins’ remix making you re-love “Nobody?”

Well not exactly, but their photo was used inappropriately.

This past September 25th, a newspaper company in Swaziland Africa illegally and inappropriately used the debut picture of the Wondergirls in one of their articles. The photograph of the girls including ex-member Hyun-ah, was captioned “YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL…… Young girls prefer dating older men for a number of reasons“. The article which accompanied the photograph of the girls, focused on the topic of why younger girls prefer dating older men.

Apparently, the topic was completely unrelated to the Wonder Girls, besides the fact that they are young. In response to this issue, a representative of JYP Entertainment has stated that they are currently resolving this issue with the newspaper company in Swaziland and will be taking actions accordingly.

Aw, how sweet.

American singer Jordin Sparks gave the Wondergirls some words of encouragement in the form of a letter. The recently revealed message is pretty much your typical goodbye note with a few exaggerations (…ahem, “can’t wait to see you take America by storm”), but it’s still sweet nonetheless. Looks like Jordin and the girls really bonded while touring together. Who knew the “Nobody” dance could bring people together like that?

While some of us are just thankful to being invited, celebrities make the most of the situation. They get their goodie bags of free loot, party with the famous (see above), and squeeze in a magazine shoot as well. Check out the Wondergirls partying with Tory Burch in New York city. The girls also do double duty by being featured in the upcoming October issue of W Magazine (Korea).   

Will netizens ever stop?The Wondergirls are being slammed after a picture of members at a fan signing were released. Check out the picture~

Can you guess why the picture is “pathetic?” Me neither. If anything, I see some So-hee side-boob.

This, my English-speaking friends, is what we call a cultural difference. Korean netizens are all in a frenzy at the picture displaying the Wondergirls signing a fan’s shoes. In Korea, the action can be seen as degrading: one bowing down to sign a shoe (similar to kissing one’s master’s feet perhaps?). In America, I see a punk-rock-ish fan (note: shoelaces, pants) asking the Wondergirls to sign his/her Converse sneakers.

Personally, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve draw on my own Converse back in the day. Having an autograph on a pair of converse sounds quite impressive if you ask me. What do you think? Are the netizens too uptight or are the Wondergirls acting like cash cow slaves?

I hope so.

As we recently reported, the Wondergirls have each made brief “about me” videos in English to introduce themselves to their American fans.

However, keen netizens (English speaking?) have specifically noticed that Yoo-bin’s video contains statements that can perhaps be interpreted as sly messages in support of 2PM’s fallen member, Jae-bum.

When asked about 3 things that make her sad, two of her answers were “when I am completely misunderstood“ and “when someone wrongly blames the people I love, that makes me sad.” Yoo-bin also says, “I won a Korean company audition. But, ironically, I had to go back to Korea and the first few years were tough…” Sounds familiar?

Is this indeed a subliminal message in support of her fellow JYPE member Jae-bum? Well, while the interview was posted two days ago on the Wondergirls official youtube channel, some other members’ videos were posted before Jae-bum’s controversy began. Were all of the interviews filmed before the controversy?

With all of the editing done for these videos, I doubt Yoo-bin’s filming was done a mere two days before it was released. Unfortunately, I don’t think these are subliminal messages but…I bet she’s supporting him either way.

…with New York City’s fashion elite.

The Wondergirls (minus their overdone ‘Nobody” outfits) hit up the New York social scene last night when they attended the star-studded “Fashion’s Night Out” event held at the Tory Burch Boutique in NYC. “

For those of you who are less fashionably inclined, “Fashion’s Night Out” was a sort of promotional event held on September 10th consisting of  in-store parties held at various flagships and boutiques all around NYC. Entertainment heavyweights like Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham and Rihanna all attended parties held at various locations.

The Wondergirls, who are currently recording for an upcoming album at JYP Entertainment’s studio in NYC, showed up wearing all Tory Burch and  even posed for a few photos with the designer.

Might I add that the girls look so much better in these rather stylish outfits than they did in those outdated and …ahem, recycled Teen Choice Award dresses. I get that they were trying to stand out by channeling a classic, foregone era (i.e. the 60s), but the super-matchy look was getting really old fast! Here the girls’ outfits are coordinated, but they manage to stay true to their individual styles and I (and anyone else with taste) definitely approve.

Anyhow, fashion week is just beginning in New York City; do you think the girls will pop up at any shows?

Yup, we get to properly hear So-hee speaking English…finally~Through their official youtube channel, the Wondergirls have been letting their fans get to know them a bit better through a casual English interview. I have to say these are a good set of questions. Nothing too probing, but you get some insight into their personal preferences.

In order of release:

Sun-ye, for some reason, still has a very thick accent, which at times is kind of distracting, but it’s all right. 

I really surprised at how eloquent Sun-mi is. It’s a shame she doesn’t speak more during English interviews.

Ye-eun has picked up English like nothing. She just continues to improve.

Yoo-bin was the most easygoing character during her interview, which makes her the most enjoyable to watch.

So-hee also amazes me with her English skills. She must have the gift of gab behind the scenes because she is just damn quiet in public. Her interview was the shortest, but she answered her questions the quickest.
