POPSEOUL! concert review: Brown-eyed girls out staged by boyfriends

Outside at brand spanking new Melon AX theater, the mixed crowd of young and old, but mostly male fans, shuffled inside on a first-come-first-served basis for a standing view of the stage. Inside, the artful mix of house music and trippy lighting was reminiscent of being in the hottest club in Seoul. But it was an illusion. The performance by the Brown-eyed girls was decent but nothing to write home about. Their outfits and style fluctuated between being good girls and bad, but in the end, the “good” won over with the 80’s pop getup.
One of the highlights of the show was when a 19 year old boy was plucked out the crowd to be tied-up and blind-folded on stage during a solo cover performance of a JYP’s song by BEG member, Gain.
However, more than the main act, the crowd really got pumped up when guest stars (introduced as “boyfriends”), Cho PD, Mighty Mouth, VOS and Crown J took their turn on stage.
Overall, despite the 2 hours of singing by the girls, this POPSEOUL! sister would have left early if it weren’t for the guest stars.

That’s borderline with the Red Light District. The so called conservative Koreans needs to open their eyes and realize that these acts of dehumanizing women and the whole popular culture of “sexy dance” must be eradicated in the presence among elementary and middle school students. Do they realize that those outfits are those of prostitutes in the Western culture?
It sickens me to see 5 year old girls on family talent shows dressed up in Westernized stripper outfits and thrusting their pelvics in sexual ways immitating famous female singers like Chaeyun–and they are praised and encouraged. How ignorant must they be not to know?
I know Koreans in general tend to be very insecure in their outer appearances, but sensationalizing the Western culture and not knowing what’s right or wrong is just pure ignorance and stupidity.
You can bash me all you want, but as a Korean American, I see a serious problem in the young generation culture in Korea. I’m not saying Hollywood is any better. Just look at Spears, Paris, or Lohan. But the difference is, the general population knows they are the filth of society. Korea is a small country of society and community where everyone moves together. The danger of this is that, especially with the power of internet, is that when Korean step on the wrong step, everyone does as well.

I agree that he should have a more larger target audience, but at the same time I believe there are a lot of Asian Americans who haven’t heard of Se7en or aren’t familiar with K/Jpop (I know several of them in my area who are like that). I think they’re trying to start a fanbase with Asian Americans first (who don’t know him beforehand or aren’t that supportive of his U.S. debut) and then work their way up to a general audience.

-Se7en is in negotiation with 3 different records companies at the moment.
-They will decide which one will give them better conditions so they are not in a rush.
-It might take another month or two.
-Se7en might be featured in a duet with a “famous male latin style singer”
-There were negotiations for him to appear in a famous tv series. Nothing is confirmed, so there are not details.

And is that the style ‘the kids’ are wearing these days? You can buy those clothes for a couple thousand won at Dongdaemun or Namdaemun or for several hundreds of thousands of won at the malls.
Not knocking the style, just thinks it funny the huge price disparities. It’s the exact same in the states, but it’s just more in your face in Korea.
